For anyone working with energy meditation is an indispensable tool. Meditation allow you to intentionally enter an altered state of consciousness that is more focused and more profound than just every day life's consciousness. meditation is mainly practiced with eastern religions, but it is important to understand that meditation does not have to be a religious practice. meditation is simply some thing that helps harness and balance spirit, body, and mind. the focused state of meditation gives you a greater awareness of energy it also helps you balance that energy and help you to achieve a greater sense of clarity. one of the most basic aspects of meditation is breathing by focusing on your breathing, but this is not the only way. by breathing you heighten your awareness of the movement of both breath and energy. once you are aware of the flow of breath and energy, you can easily achieve a heightened state where your consciousness is balanced between spirit, body, and mind. when meditating you take deep regular breathes. you must breath with your diaphragm and imagine the breath being pulled down to the vary bottom of your lungs. you need to exhale just as slowly a you inhaled letting go of the breath in a controlled and steady stream. from many suggest breathing in your nose and out through your mouth but this is not necessary if you are breathing correctly you will naturally begin to relax. if you are having trouble relaxing imagine all of the tension or stress leaving you with the breath you exhale after few times you will feel some what light and relaxed. once you have the relaxation turn your attention inward. still you thoughts so all you can feel is the awareness. if random thoughts and images flit through your mind do not allow them to break your concentration instead simply do not focus on them and they will go away. once you are at this point take a few moments to enjoy this stillness of the mind. your whole body should have a refined awareness of your energy, you will also have a heightened sense of mental clarity.it is better to stay in this state of mind from 5 to 30 min. before slowly bringing your self back out of it. clearing your mind through meditation will give you a point focus that allows you to directly visualize in energy works and much more. it would be a good thing to do at least once a week, but as for me i try to do it every 2 days and like i said there are not just one way. some have to hum, others have to chant, and some have to have silence wile others have to have peaceful music playing in the background. find the way that best works for you.

another good way of focus for meditation is by the usage of colors. for example rocks, like chakra rocks color rock can be a focus point to the things that you are meditating about,or balancing your mind, if it is not just the stillness of the mine is what you are meditating on. by using colors you can focus on the thing you are meditating about. here is a set of colors that i have set as an example of what they could stand for
black : banishing, shadow, hidden knowledge, mourning, abstinence, dark, evil, blue :tranquility, truth, friendship, serenity, dreams, brown :earth, communication, indecision, firmness, yellow / gold :deities, creativity, inspiration, money, joy green :nature, luck, money, healing, fertility, loving spirit, orange :intellect, organization, control, comfort, creativity, pink :love, affection, honor, fidelity, gentleness, purple :psychic ability, spirituality, awareness, spiritual growth, wisdom, independence, protection red :lust, courage, strength, life force, power, vitality, cleansing white :cleansing, trust, protection, light, banishing evil, flow of life, dreams, deities grey/silver :banishing, balance, psychic, neutral, concentration,
but symbols hold what ever meaning that you set them to be, as well as colors. every way that you set a symbol is correct. like the color for example brown could also mean dirt, rocks of the earth, or animals that inhabit the earth. a way to use the rock colors is a good way to stay focused. if you were meditating on finding the truth of some thing you could use black and blue. black for the focus on some thing that is hidden and blue for the truth of the hidden knowledge that you seek. that is just another way of focus. some use candles and some use their cloths that they have on. not one way is incorrect.

Grounding
An important part of meditation is grounding. When you meditate, you are working on strengthening your mind, body, and soul. Sometimes, to do this, you have to become separate from yourself in order to cleanse your soul or heal part of your body. There are other reasons to "separate" from the body during meditation as well, such as Astral Projection. All of these things can shift the soul inside the body in the process, making your connection to your earthly senses a little blurred. This is why grounding is important. You should connect with your earthly senses after a meditation to help you setting back into the comfort of your body's shape. There are many ways to do this, though you might have one or two favorite ways. Here is a quick list of ways to ground yourself after meditation.
* Blink your eyes, look around the room * Wiggles your fingers and toes, move your limbs, maybe even walk around a bit * Eat a small snack or get something to drink (It might be a good idea to have it sitting nearby beforehand, just in case) * Hum or sing to yourself quietly * Touch an interesting texture like wood or carpeting * Do some stretching * Handle a stone that is good for grounding (like Hematite)
These are only a few ways, though there might be others. I would compare the process of grounding to the way you feel when you first wake up in the morning (or whenever you wake up) and you aren't quite adjusted to the day yet. Grounding after meditation is generally just for speeding up this process of becoming adjusted. If you can think of anything else for me to add, mention it! Happy meditating c:
[Ren's Edit:] Another good thing about grounding yourself is that it helps you let out the unwanted energy in to the earth. By doing this you can breath like in meditation. While you exhale, you can imagine the energy flowing out of your feet and going into the ground were you stand. Note: You can also do this when sitting down. Just imagine your spine extending down to met the earth and push the energy out through the energy connection there.
