•►•The Name is Vander, but You Can Call Me Alister...•◄•

Sunday mornings always seem to be a favorite time of the week four young Alister Michael Vanderdussen. They seemed like a fresh start to the fourth year, even when everyone else considered them the end of the week. The day before another round of classes could seem daunting to some, but this bright young man never let that thought bring him down. He did his homework the day it had been assigned, so it never piled up on him during when the weekend rolled around. It perplexed him a bit why the sorting hat had placed him in the house of green when he believed he fit under the description of Ravenclaw. Some things were never meant to be known, so he did not question it too often. His mum had told him that things happened for a reason. Now he just had to wait and see what that reason might be. Waiting was never fun. That’s why Alister tried to occupy himself with something every second of the day. Time was a precious thing that shouldn’t be wasted, so he tried his best to make everything he did in the day purposeful. Even now he was managing his time wisely. While everyone else rested peacefully in their beds after a wild night of partying until the dead of night, the fourth year boy had been studying his Astronomy book. The stars had always interested him, even more than magic itself. So much out there was yet to be answered, and the little specks of light in the night sky only answered some of his questions. No, he did not believe in aliens. The idea of traveling through space was quite exciting. The muggles had been spending loads of money and effort to send people up into space, so how exhilarating would it be to be the first wizard in space! This made the boy smile. While others worked hard to become Aurors or professors, this strange boy was wishing to become an astronaut.

Last night had thrown his usual routine off because of the huge party that his fellow Slytherins had thrown after the announcement of the champions. Not once did Alister hear anyone say anything about the three wizards chosen for the tournament, so he believed they weren’t celebrating for anything other than the fact that’s they could at this time. They had only used the announcement as an excuse to throw a party. This bothered him a bit, especially since he would have liked to go to bed early in order to wake up early the following morning to get some extra things done. The whole night he spent alone in the corner of the common room, working on some extra credit work for potions class. Stereotypically, potions had always been his best class even though he did not enjoy it as much as astronomy and charms. A few people had come over to speak with him, but when they heard him muttering complex equations to himself they hurried away. Alister had never really had any close friends because everyone thought he was a bit crazy. The less friend he had, the less chances they could become enemies. This was a sad way to look at it, but it got his mind off of self-pity.

The first part of the morning, Alister had spent wandering the walls with his nose in his Astronomy book. That was how most of the people at Hogwarts saw him, always having his face close to the words about stars and planets. Getting his head out of the clouds and seeing stars could almost be taken literally when it came to the young boy. As his eyes danced along the pages of his favorite subject, his feet carried him to wherever he needed to be. Those always moving feet of his managed to take him into the Great Hall to satisfy his growling stomach. For a moment, his attention was taken away by the chanting of the people sitting at his house table. They all seemed to be quit cheerful even though it was still early in the day, but they all seemed to be wearing some sort of propaganda on their shirts. Once again, he wasn’t invited to everyone’s little club. He had watched a few of the boys craft these rude buttons last night while everyone else danced and ate whatever food had been stolen from the kitchens. Returning his attention to the rings of Saturn, Alister sat at the end of the table where nobody else sat. He liked the solitude loneliness brought to him, and didn’t care what everyone else thought of him. The box of buttons had been passed down to his side of the table because all the others had taken one for themselves. Not too sure about joining in on the taunting fun, Alister hesitated to take one. Getting a clever idea, the boy took his wand out of his pocket and tapped it three times on the face of Gregory Wood. The enchantment the Slytherin boys had put on these buttons slowly faded away to reveal it original surface. Big white letters glistened at him with mystery and purpose. “I wonder what SPEW means…” With glee, the fourth year fastened it to his shirt and began eating his breakfast. Hogwarts always prepared the best for its students, and it was a surprise that he never got tired of eggs and pumpkin juice. Taking his share and placing it on his plate, the boy happily looked up and noticed some of his fellow students giving him weird looks. Weird looks were nothing new, but he knew it was because of the button. It made him stand out of the crowd of jeering hooligans that justified their actions by saying it was just a bit of fun.
User Image
Ignoring the stares of others, Alister joyfully spooned eggs into his mouth while he kept track of what he was reading by skimming his finger along the lines. Who would have thought that most of the Earth’s elements came from the stars? He read every word on every page while flipping through the pages. His homework had been to read the first two chapters, but he was now on chapter nine. Once again, he would be ahead of his other fourth year Slytherins. This would make them poke fun at him for being different because that was what immature teenagers did. It was only in good fun they would say, and Alister would have to take himself out of throwing a few jinx there way. Yes, while the boy did not let things get to him, he did have somewhat of a temper. He dare not show this temper of his because that would push people away from him even further. Solitude had its benefits, but being alone for the rest of you life did not look good to anyone.

((I don’t think I’m advanced lol. I just love to write! You should know Sovay after reading that PM I sent you! A good four paragraphs is what I shoot for each post. You can do it if you believe! Am I really rubbing off on you? lol))

He could see her body twitch as if she wanted to hug him. Gregory would have felt just as awkward as she would have if Rose had actually done it. It perplexed him how they both wanted to do something, but were to worried about the other’s reaction. They both wanted to give each other a hug, but still couldn’t go through with doing it. Human nature was something he did not think he would understand any time soon. The classes here at Hogwarts were so much easier than the classes some of his muggle acquaintances took back home. Advanced Psychology just seemed so much more complex than Care of Magical Creatures. The seeker let out a sigh as a smile appeared on his face. Even though his body felt like collapsing, the boy dare not show it to anyone. This would only cause people to worry for him more than they probably already were. An exhausted champion did not look good in anyone’s eyes. Perhaps it had not been wise to stay up so late while partying. Most people of his house went to bed before ten, but he usually stayed up until midnight. The quietness of the common room at night was just too satisfying to miss. He wanted to get up early this morning so he could talk with Rose. Things seemed much better now that he had became friends with the attractive daughter of Hermione Granger. Being known because of her parents was probably a bit annoying seeing that most kids their age wanted to be their own person. He made note not to mention the greatness of her parents in any important conversations. Greg did not want to anger the girl he would be taken to the Yule Ball, especially when he wanted to be in her life as long as he could.

A smirk spread across his lips when Rose asked him how he was doing. He wanted to tell her how he was about to die because he was so tired. Also, the cheering from the Slytherin table was starting to get to him. He did not want to turn around to see what they were up to because he had a feeling it had to do with something about him. His eye caught sight of another button as a group of students strolled out of the Great Hall. These weren’t like the ones he had spotted before. They had his face on them, but the saying were poking fun at him. If any of them actually knew anything about him, they would soon find out he didn’t care about smarts and the like. He wasn’t like those other brainy students who spent all of their life with their noses in text books. Insults that made no sense would never bother him, so he shrugged off the taunting accessories that were made to get a reaction out of him. Snake fun never made sense to anyone outside of that house. “Just wishing there were a few more hours in a day,” he managed to say after letting out a yawn. The food was arriving now and his stomach was growling at him to fill it. Scooping the scrambled eggs and some bacon on his plate, Gregory began eating his breakfast. Every morning was like this. Wake up in the morning all groggy because of staying up late and then fuel up on the same eggs as the previous day. Hopefully, the house elves weren’t being rebellious and using the leftovers from yesterday.

After eating a decent amount of the unborn chickens, Leo turned back to the young woman sitting next to him and sparked up a conversation. He wondered why it was so difficult for people to speak to each other. Everyone was afraid of rejection, so interaction was avoided. What will she think of me if I do this was the question that found its way into his mind nowadays. Looking like a fool in front of someone you wanted to impress was always devastatingly embarrassing. “I never thought fame could be so annoying. Everywhere I look, a little me is staring back at me.” He gestured towards the two Gryffindor girls that sat down wearing the Hogwarts Champion buttons on their shirts. His serious face twirled around until it said “Tact is for people who aren’t witty enough to be sarcastic”. The boy shook his head as he turned his attention back to the pretty girl next to him. He forced a smile on his lips because his face was too tired to move. Rose was looking as pretty as always, and Greg wished he could be at her side for the rest of time. That was a really long time, and the Ravenclaw student was somewhat intimidated by the fact that he might have to meet her parents one day. Shaking the hand of Ron and Hermione Weasley would be a frightening thing to do. It wasn’t because they were scary or anything of the sort. Greg was just nervous to meet new people and wanted to make a good first impression. They were always the most important when it came to things like this. If he ever meet Lily’s side of the family, then he would probably get bombarded with questions about his father. Quidditch seemed like a big thing in both of their families. Life would be quite interesting after all this was sorted.

The sound of fluttering wings broke his thoughts as the owl post came soaring in through the window high above them. Hundreds of owls swarmed inside the Great Hall in order to deliver the mail. Ryo came gliding down to Gregory until the large barn owl landed on his shoulder. A grin spread wide across the seeker’s face as he stroked his companions neck feathers. “Let me guess, you want some bacon? How about some ham this time?” The majestic bird let out a squawk of satisfaction when Greg slid a rather large piece of ham into his beak. Giving Ryo a pat on the back, the champion lifted his shoulder as the owl took flight again. A letter had been left for the boy and it was addressed by his parents. A large thud echoed in the chamber as several owls dropped off a package to one of the boys on the other end of the table. The fifth-year quickly opened the package and started handing out more buttons. These ones had the faces of the other champions on them. Letting out a sigh and shaking his head in pity, Gregory pocketed the letter because he could read it later in the day. The only thing he wanted to do at the moment was speak with his attractive date to the Yule Ball.

User ImagexxxAs the slytherin table began to fill Riley looked at the new faces. Some were later risers due to the late antics of last night. The brunette had went to sleep on a regular time, despite the protests from her friends. She wasn’t all that fond of staying up late, it made it for a bad morning. The girl slid her nibbled pastry from one side of her plate to the other as her brother rambled in her ear. She ignored mostly what he was saying, due to the fact he was also talking to everyone else at the table to. The Fifth year sneezed again and then huffed in irritance. She didn’t enjoy this whole sneezing thing. Rubbing her nose with the upper side of her hand she looked at her brother who still persisted on speaking to her about something. She finally nodded her head at him and he grinned. She wasn’t sure what he said but he got up and walked out with one of his friends. Riley just blinked in confusion. She now was looking at her cousin who simply blinked in confusion along with her.

By the reaction of her cousin she figured he had no idea what Darius was doing either. She figured as much that it was just simply nothing. Letting it go she looked to the left side of her where her brother just left. Towards the end of the table sat a boy, he was eating as well as reading at the same time. This made Riley want to laugh. She’d not know any other person that did that. She often got into trouble being home for doing that. Everyone else would be finish and the servants would have already came for the family’s plates, but she still was not finished. What else did they expect her to do durring supper? Talk? Like that would happen. The Renolds didn’t talk much. Unless it was of important matter, or buisness. Riley didn’t know if she liked that, or not. She didn’t know much better than that. She wondered if that was why she was always so quiet during breakfast and other meals at school. Once again a loud sneeze crept up on her. Her friend aside her muttered a bless you, but seemed sort of annoyed at the girl. She couldn’t help it after all. The girl slid her left leg up and brought it to her, half indian style. She was more relaxed in an odd shape. Sneezing again the girl could feel her nose tingle. ’Stupid sneezing. She thought to herself as she looked at her plate.

She wasn’t all that hungry, surprisingly enough. She had a half eaten pastry on her plate and a few pieces of a sweet roll that she’d picked apart more than ate. The brunette listened to the various conversations going on and tried to keep herself interested, but truth be told they were all either about themselves, something they didn’t have, or other people. Riley let out a huff. She didn’t ever like that, and once again she got an odd look when she sneezed again. She groaned in annoyance as a few of her friends laughed at her. She shook her head in protest to their laughing but it was point less. She just looked up at the merky enchanted ceiling. The clouds in side made her want to read, and to think of the clouds outside it made her want to read even more. Or find something interesting to do in the castle. Whatever that might be. She looked to her right where her friends sat, still chatting about something meaningless. She simply took another drink of her pumpkin juice and tried to pay some sort of attention, just to not make the other girls mad. That was the worst thing you could do to a slytherin girl was to ignore her.

Soon the Ravenclaw Gregory wood appeared and the glares commenced. Riley chose not to glare but simply roll her eyes. What were they trying to do? It wasn’t sneaky or anything. It was right out in the open. How silly. Riley figured this is where she would make her exit. Standing up from the table she pulled the pin from her shirt and spoke ”I gotta go, I need to study.” A few of her friends made a protest, but she simply ignored them and turned from where they stood. As she walked past the box of pins she tossed hers in the with the other few in the bottom of the box and made her way out of the great hall. She could still hear her friends voices as she walked from the room asking her why she was studying when class had not nearly begun. Truth be told she wasn’t going to study, just go read. Or something.

She decided some library time would be nice. Just anything to keep her busy would actually be really good. Making her way down the slightly empty hallways the girl watched people as they passed. Everyone was dressed in casual wear, which was very odd to see on most people, since it was very seldom it was seen. Another sneeze soon snuck out on her and she rubbed her nose angirly. The halls hadnt changed over the years she’d been here and she could still inhale and breath in the same farmiliar scent. She stopped at one of the large overpasses of the school with large cut windows. Leaning against it she couldn’t help but think even though the triwizard tournement was going on it was still really boring around here. Everything was quiet besisides the people talking about the three chosen ones. Honestly. There boring to hear about. “ She muttered to herself with a huff. She’d heard enough of how smart Gregory wood was, that’s why he was chose. So sick of hearing how pretty and witty Evangaline Criss was, and how storng and handsome Abel Balas was. She rolled her eyes at this and looked at the wide spread lake before the school.

Odd to think she was bored with this sort of thing going on. But really, it was boring right now. Only a week of school had gone past, which wasn’t enough to keep anyone to interested in their studies. And she knew that her classes she had were not what she wanted to take in a row. She had Herbology very early, which made her want to vomit. Then it fallowed by transfiguration, charms. And then the various breaks and other classes she had. Her morning classes were very irritating to her, and boring. She’d be able to deal with them if they were her afternoon classes, but these things…They were in the morning. Nothing to wake her up! It was frustrating. But she knew she’d survive, it just felt good to complain every once in a while. And she was a Slytherin after all, so it sort of gave her a right. Riley pulled in her arms so her face sat in her hands. She would find something to do, just not at this moment. The lake seemed to be very pretty even though it was gloomy and slightly chilly out. She didn’t care much, it was just a nice moment; where nothing or no one could ruin it.

Lola Spencer
Fourth Year Ravenclaw

Staring at the ceiling was beginning to get very boring for Lola. She had been up for an hour or so already, but remained laying in bed. Her organizational skills were not quite up to par, so she always made a racket when getting dressed in the morning, and didn't want to wake up her roommates after the long night they had all experienced. Last night Gregory Wood was named the Hogwarts champion for the Triwizard Tournament, so the Ravenclaws all "let down their hair," so to speak, to celebrate. Most everyone was exhausted, but Lola was used to running on little sleep, so this Sunday was like any weekday morning to her. After the other girls began to stir in their beds, she decided it was safe to creep out of the room and head to the Great Hall to see who else was around.

As she passed through the common room, two things caught her attention: One, the place was spotless. The room had gotten absolutely trashed the night before, and it was mornings like this that Lola was most thankful for the school's hardworking house elf staff. She didn't spend much time dwelling on the cleanliness of the room before noting the second thing that caught her eye in the room: the new announcement on the bulletin board. Quidditch tryouts?! This afternoon?! She went into a slight panic; sure, she was the returning keeper and had a good chance at keeping her position, but was always fearful of someone stealing her spot on the team. Quidditch was her main extra-curricular, and a nice release from the academics she spent too long slaving over. She couldn't imagine being at Hogwarts and not playing the sport.

Still stressing about the pending Quidditch workouts, Lola continued on her way to the Great Hall. She shouldn't have been surprised at the Hall's low student density following a night of celebration, but for the lack of packed tables and noisy chatter threw her off as she strolled through the entryway. In fact, the Ravenclaw table was just about empty; there were only a few other blue & bronze house members in the room, in addition to the champion Gregory Wood himself, sitting at the Gryffindor table. Seeing the acting captain of the Quidditch team only reminded her of what lay ahead for the day, and she took a seat at the far end of the Ravenclaw table near some other fourth years, ready to fill her stomach with a delicious breakfast in preparations for the tryouts. Schoolwork and Quidditch were enough worry for her, and Lola couldnt imagine how Gregory was going to deal with those two activities as well as the Tournament in the coming months. Then again, he was chosen as the Hogwarts champion for a reason, so he was obviously capable.

As she bit into some toast with butter and jelly spread on its surface, the buttons being sported by students at all the house tables caught her attention. It was nice to see some of the Hogwarts houses uniting to support Gregory, a fact made obvious by the image of his face shining from the pins worn on their robes and shirts. Of course, some Slytherins' badges had some sort of attempted insult at her house printed on it rather than the messages of support worn by other students. This was to be expected; the green & silver clad students often seemed to diverge from the rest of the student body in choices such as which champion to support. A couple of pins around the room had the faces of Abel Balas, the handsome Durmstrang champion, and Evangeline Criss, the beautiful girl from Beauxbatons. Noting the good looks of the champions only reminded Lola of the looming ball that was to be held in this very room in the future, only one more thing to worry about. Lola had never experienced a ball before, and really had no idea what to expect, but she did know one thing: she was looking forward to a chance to get dressed up for once. She gazed off into the distance, daydreaming about being asked to the Yule Ball while chewing on her toast, momentarily forgetting about the Quidditch tryouts to be held later on in the day.

Rose new Greg wasn't as awake as he looked. Assuming there was more partying, or hoping. Greg Deserved it. He was the Hogwarts Champion. Rose was so excited. Not only did she really like Greg, but she is going to the Yule Ball with him, and he was the Champion. The young Gryffindor always felt nervous around Greg, she was usually pretty confident and forth-coming but around her gorgeous date, she was a little shy and quiet. Which she didn't want to do. Because her nervousness made her personality the opposite of what it usually was.

Rose glanced at the Slytherin Table. They were always rude and unkind. Most likely, they always will be. Slytherin was like that when her parents, and family went to Hogwarts, and all the way until she is going now. Seeing buttons of Greg everywhere, she saw some, assuming from Slytherin, that were not-so-nice. Not surprising to the sixth year. She felt bad that Greg was treated so crappy by them. Since Rose knew, he deserved so much more. Slytherins, were most likely jealous, that they themselves aren't "Champions" knowing they are apparently so much better. After the war, Rose would hope people weren't like that anymore, but shockingly, they were. Teasing and criticizing other people because they thought they were better. Like a teenage muggle movie, where the "popular" girls were treated so much better and acted so mean. Seeing it didn't bother Greg though, she didn't mention it. Knowing he was better then some stupid jealous kids, and she shouldn't worry about it.

Rose smiled when Greg mentioned more hours, seeing he tried to avoid saying he was tired as bloody hell. She sat quietly as he ate his food. Since she already ate.

Rose laughed when Greg pointed out the buttons on the girls shirts. "I know exactly what you mean, fame is very annoying. Having my parents, and relatives all famous, people know me. Which I definitely do not like." She sighed. Her parents, and aunt and uncle, and grandparents, and other relatives fought in the war against Voldemort all those years ago. Her parents, and Uncle Harry, being best friends and doing alot of the fighting, making "Weasley" a well known name. Which the sixth year, did not like. Luckily, some of the fame has worn off. "You won't have to worry about me, I'll only stare at you when your looking." She giggled, "And as for those buttons, I won't wear them, but I'll have some!"

Rose looked up as owls started arriving. Rose watched how nice Greg was to his owl. She received some mail herself, a couple letters from home. Most likely her mother, getting more and more excited about the ball, and her father babbling on about his little girl growing up. Not shocking. Mostly the kind of mail she's been getting for weeks. Rose put her letters in her pocket, for right now, and she'd read them later. Since she only has so long to talk to Greg every day.

The boy let a soft chuckle escape his lips when the attractive young witch he was speaking to joked about how she only stared at him when he was looking. It felt good to see the more out-going side of her finally surfacing. He knew how spunky she could be, and was wondering why he had not seen much of it this year. Perhaps she was just as nervous to talk to him as he had been to ask her to the ball. A smile spread across his lips when he noticed she had been watching him and his owl. Was it strange to see someone like him show affection to his best friend of five years? Well, most people wouldn’t think the Hogwarts Champion and Ravenclaw Seeker cared for much more than confrontation, but they had only truly realized his existence when he was chosen as one of the three who would risk their life for glory. Gregory watched his companion soar up out of the window and out of sight. His attention returned to Rose and he tried to spark up a pleasant conversation. Sadly, nothing came to mind so he asked her a question she might not even have an answer to. “Any clue where Lily might be? I haven’t had any time to speak to anyone since before last night’s supper.

Seeing Lola stroll inside and take a seat at the Ravenclaw table reminded him of the bulletin he had posted up in the common room. He would have to crush some dreams and make quite a lot of people upset this afternoon. The seeker and captain of his house team expected a larger turn up this yea because of the announcement made last night. Everyone would be coming to see him and bombard him with questions. Not everyone trying out could make it on the team, and he was not sure if he would be able to deal with anyone crying over his decision. Perhaps captain was not a title he was ready to take. His team needed his leadership and he would oblige by taking over the duties as captain. The Ravenclaw House Team would be the team to beat this year, he was sure of that. Not wanting a fellow teammate to have to sit by herself or people she did not like, Gregory took it upon himself to call her over. “Hey Keeper! I know solitude can be great, but come have a seat over here.” Then the sixth year student realized that Rose played the same position as Lola did. This could be interesting. Most players had their own views of the game and their own way of playing their favored position. Too bad Lily wasn’t here to discuss with him what made the best Seeker. Her absence was kind of making him worry. He really needed to ask her about her thoughts on the tournament. She was always his source of wisdom, having given him better advice in a week than some of his teachers had in five years. He wanted to know how she thought he should tackle each task. In fact, he didn’t even know what the first task would be! Hopefully one of the other school heads would tell their champion and Abel or Eva would pass on the information to him.

The doors burst open again and it seemed as if all the late students had finally woken up and come down for breakfast. The only problem was not many people were in here so their eyes immediately fell upon the red haired champion. The mutterings grew louder once again as everyone went to their respected tables. A group of Beauxbaton girls pranced by and stopped to blow kisses at him. Greg immediately looked away, not even slightly affected by their Veela charm. That was one thing he was quite glad about. The last thing he need was Rose seeing him drooling over those scary women. It was a good thing that would never happen. The saw that he was not interested and with upset looks on their faces, they quickly headed to their seats. This fame was going to kill him, especially if the girls did not stop chasing after him. His frustration was intensified when a girl walking by dropped a pink envelop in front of him. A few others followed he lead and soon a good stack of letters were placed in front of him. Not wanting to break anyone’s hearts or createed any more enemies, Greg resisted the urge to light the stack on fire. He did not need to b playing games with girls when the only girl he really cared about was sitting right next to him. “I'll just have to dispose of them in the common room,” he whispered so only those around him could hear as he shoved the stack into his pocket. The boy let out a heavy sigh before he took one long swig of pumpkin juice.

Lola Spencer
Fourth Year Ravenclaw

"Hey Keeper!" Lola snapped out of her daydream as the yell coming from the Gryffindor table reached her. "I know solitude can be great, but come have a seat over here." Lola was immediately embarrassed; hopefully Gregory and Rose hadn't noticed her blankly staring off to a distant wall within the Great Hall. She quickly wiped her mouth with the intricately decorated napkins provided to the students, ran her fingers through her hair so it didn't look as dreadful as she felt it did, and rose from the table. She had never been invited to sit at a different house's table before; Lola mostly kept to herself as she was too shy to introduce herself to most people.

She approached the red and gold table, and sat herself across from the couple. Well, maybe not "couple," were they actually dating? Lola knew that they were going to the Yule ball together; it was kind of the talk of the school after Gregory asked Rose, let alone the source of depression of some of sixth-year Ravenclaw girls. But she really didn't keep up with the gossip of the school beyond the stuff that everybody couldn't stop talking about. She was a stereotypical Ravenclaw in that way. However, her semi-anti-socialness was something she was hoping to work on in the coming school year. Schoolwork was about to get a lot harder, and it would be a whole lot more enjoyable if she had some more friends around to complain about the work with.

"Hey Gregory, Rose! How's it going? Tired from all of the festivities last night?" The celebration in the common room last night was the craziest Lola had ever seen the Ravenclaws get, even counting post-exam parties. And that was saying something: Ravenclaws loved celebrating success on exams. She assumed the Gryffindors had a nice time celebrating as well; they were always very supportive of the Ravenclaw house. Lola smiled at Rose as she asked the question, she didn't want her to think she was directing it solely at Gregory. Lola didn't know Rose all that well, but they had played Quidditch against each other. Since they were both Keepers and mainly stayed at their own ends of the field there wasn't much interaction between the two during game time. Of course, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, as it meant there was no personal grudge resulting from one shoving the other off of her broom or the like, something that unfortunately happened all too often.

"Speaking of which, I don't think I ever got a chance to congratulate you. So, er, congratulations!" Slightly embarrassed and wishing that she had planned out her sentence to be a little less awkward and repetitive, she took a sip of the cup of hot tea that had magically appeared in front of her.

Rose sat quietly for a little, attempting to think of a topic to talk to Greg about. Hoping he'd think of something. Since she was tired and just woke up, there wasn't much brain power working yet.
Lucky for her Greg asked a question, so she could stop thinking about a topic, and answer that one. But, sadly, she had no idea. "Well, maybe still sleeping?"
Since her cousin was a fourth year, instead of sixth year like herself, they slept in different rooms in the dormitories. So she didn't know where she was.

Rose glanced over at the "keeper" Greg was referring too. Lola Spencer, Ravenclaw keeper. A fourth year, like her cousin. Since Quidditch hadn't started yet, and Lola was Ravenclaw she didn't mind it. Of course if Greg would have invited some rude Slytherin Keeper over, who knows, Rose might've had some fun. But, the girl did not want to embarrass herself in front of her lovely date. That would be bad. Being rude to someone she barely knew, from the same house as Greg? She didn't have much of a reason to anyway. Being to Keepers, the only reason there was any anger would be losing and winning. But Quidditch hadn't even begun this year.

When Lola sat across from Greg and herself, she wondered what was going through her mind as she seemed to be examing the two sixth years. Thanks to her kind family, everyone pretty much knew about her and Greg going to the Ball. Especially since he was the Champion. It didn't really bother her though.
"Hi Lola! Actually, yes, very much! It was very enjoyable." Rose replied to Lola, and returned a smile to her.

Rose wondered how many "congratulations" Greg had gotten. Even she did. So the two people sitting with him have, a lot of other people probably did also. That seems to be a lot of congrats he has been receiving.

Greg nodded to Lola as she sat across from him and Rose. That was when he realized that he probably embarrassed her by shouting out like that. She probably did not have much to worry about seeing how the house of green and silver were making singing songs about the obvious. Nothing could be heard over the din they were making, unless you were talking a few feet away from someone. As Lola gathered her things and made her way over to the where he and Rose were sitting, Greg could not help but examine her. It was now starting to intrigue him how he had never really gotten to know her. She was a nice looking girl with smarts that would stun anybody in this room. On top of that, they had played on the same team for a couple of years now. Not once had he ever thought of calling her over and having a friendly chat with her, and that saddened him a bit. Had he really been that anti-social the past few years? It had to have been his fault because he got plenty of unwanted attention from everyone else. All he had to do if he wanted some human interaction was walk into the room. People always swarmed him with questions about Quidditch, and now they pestered him if he knew anything about the upcoming tasks. First years could get on your nerves quite quickly.

A smile flashed across the sixth year’s face when the girl sitting across from him asked if they were tired from the celebrations last night. She out of all the people here should have known what his answer would be. The Ravenclaw Common Room had been the loudest its been since his six years of attending Hogwarts. The prefects were constantly reminding everyone of the time it was, and the Head Girl was complaining about the noise level. They eventually had to tone it down quite a bit when the Head of House told them he was getting complaints from the other residents of the school. They had probably kept up everyone down at Hogsmeade. The grin on Gregory’s face faltered ever so slightly when she bid him congrats. He was constantly being reminded of the tournament by everyone at the school. The first task was waiting just around the corner and he was so unprepared for it. He snatched a toothpick off the dish in front of him, and twisted it between his fingers. Not wanting to make her feel like she did something wrong, Greg quickly replied. “Thanks Keeper. Just don’t get annoyed if I come running to any of you for some advice. That tournament is going to be the death of me, I can see it now.” The Seeker bit his bottom lip immediately after those words left his lips. He knew that because of this Rose would be worried about him. He did not want her to feel anything but happiness when she was with him. A let a smile come to the surface to try and tell the others that he was only joking. He needed to play it off as if he was confident in his abilities and was sure he was going to win, even though his stomach was churning with fear and anticipation.

He placed the toothpick in between his lips as his mind started to wander towards the first task. The last tournament had the champions facing dragons, the most fiercest beast in the land. The were not likely to repeat the same challenge again this year, but perhaps the would imitate it. He tried to think of some of the most dangerous magical creatures, but the snarling snout and scaly hides of dragons kept popping up into his head. Next he was imagining himself firing spells at a Hungarian Horntail as it reared up on its hind legs and tried to swat at him. Greg’s hand tightened around the wand in his pocket, and then he snapped back into reality. He nervously smiled at the two girls seating next to him as he released his grip on the redwood wand in his pocket. “Let’s just hope there isn’t any dragons…

Dominique felt a tid-bit sluggish today, she’s had an awfully large test in potions yesterday and she was rather average in the class. But putting for the energy left her almost drained. It was happy thing though, for half the class didn’t pass. Her mark at the end was above average, but not completely superb. That though made the girl happy even if it wasn’t the ‘best’ her bright eyes fallowed the halls as she walked to the great hall for a bit of breakfast. Being a Weasley she was sort of an oddity. She one, had blonde hair, not brown or red, and also she was not a Gryffindor. This though suited her quite well. Over the six years at the school she’d grown quite fond of being in the house of Yellow and black.

Sitting next to one of her friends at her table she slid some fruit and a muffin on to her plate. She was more tired than hungry right now even though she had gotten enough sleep over the night the mornings for her always seemed to drag on. As one of her friends began the normal chatter of the day Dominique flashed a smile at them trying to be engaged. She simply had to wake up before this would happen. Taking a glance to the Gryffindor table where her cousin sat with that of Greg Wood. He was a sixth year like her, and she knew him only slightly. She watched as the two talked and was slightly curious of it. Her curiosity was interrupted by a question in her direction. Trying to play cool and as though she had heard it she simply gave a white part-veela smile. See she was that of a witch, but she was very proud of her heritage, and she was not just to let someone forget that she had veela in her. But yet she did not always want to flaunt it. She had her moments where she wanted everyone to notice here, but for the most part she liked to keep it simple.

Taking a sip of juice the girl listened a bit to what her friends around her said before taking a quick bite of a melon and excused herself from the table. Flipping her blonde hair from her face she waved a quick graceful good-bye before making her way to the Gryffindor table. She knew there were rumors of her cousin and the raven claw boy. Coming upon the two she gave Rose a smirk ”Rosie darling” With that she gave her an air kiss in a sweat manor. Looking to her side she smiled at the sixth year ”Hello Gregy!” The Weasley then sat in front of Rose, able to see the both of them. There was another girl, with Blue robes on in front of her also. She didn’t know the girl very well but with a cheerful look she spoke ”Ah! Hello there. I’m Dominique Weasley The girl said with a light voice. She was happy to meet new people and apparently her cousin Rosie knew her, or she was a friend of Greg, and what she’d heard of Rosie and Greg is that they were sure hitting it off very well; And dominique being her wanted to know what was the story.

Lola Spencer
Fourth Year Ravenclaw

Putting her tea down, Lola was glad to see that Rose was being friendly to her. Not that she had expected anything worse, it was just that one of the reasons Lola never introduced herself to people is that she was afraid they would not return the kindness she extended to them. But she had only heard nice things about Rose, which is why she felt slightly more comfortable talking to her than other people. It helped that Gregory was there too; if not for their mutual friend, Lola wouldn't even be in this situation with Rose to begin with.
"I'm glad that our houses can always count on each other for support. Some of the other houses... well, you know what I mean. Everyone isn't friendly with each other all the time," Lola finished up her thought, trying not to sound as prejudiced as she felt saying it.

As she did so, she glanced over at the Slytherin table. They were, of course, mainly the students her sentence was aimed at: the evidence layed in the anti-Gregory badges some of them sported on their robes. One of the pins stood out to her, however: the acronym "S.P.E.W." gleamed in bright white letters from the chest of Alister Vanderdussen, a fellow fourth year. S.P.E.W.? I'm sure I've heard of that before... She pondered the phrase for a few more seconds before realizing that she was kind of staring at the boy thinking about it. She blushed slightly at the thought of him catching her looking, and refocused her attention on the conversation in front of her.

Gregory looked slightly worried or upset at her expression of congrats, and Lola was frightened that she had done something wrong. However, he then returned a smile and a warning that he might ask she or Rose for advice. "Oh, I'm sure you won't need my input for anything, you guys are loads ahead of me in all of your classes and everything..." The mention of death was definitely a joke coming from Gregory: humor was one of his strong points, something that Lola was sure would make him a natural Quidditch captain, as one can't take themselves too seriously when in a position of power. "I'm sure you'll do fantastically. And besides, a lot of things have changed since the last tournament..." She didn't really know how to end the thought, but Lola knew that they would understand where she was coming from: Voldemort was no longer an issue in this tournament as he had been in the last one, causing the tragic death of Cedric Diggory. Certainly things would be safer this time.

Lola pondered the thought of dragons in the tournament. Definitely dangerous creatures, but complete possibilities to appear in the tournament as they had last time. "Hey, if there are, you can always pull a Harry Potter and summon your broomstick, any dragon would be no match for your Seeker skills!" Lola laughed off his mention of the creatures, not wanting to worry him about the tournament. She stirred her tea mindlessly once more as her thoughts drifted back to the S.P.E.W. badge worn by the Slytherin student. This might require a trip to the library for some investigation. As she mentally flipped through the pages of Hogwarts, A History, another girl sat next to her at the table after saying hello to Rose and Gregory. "Oh, err, hi! I'm Lola Spencer." She sputtered out a greeting she was immediately embarrassed by, as the girl had caught her by surprise. Lola was often quite nervous around new people, and Dominique was especially intimidating, being a few years older than Lola, and also incredibly pretty. The reappearance of the last name "Weasley" at the table was also a little nerve-wracking for the fourth year; it reminded her that the students she was speaking with her pretty well-known, not only in Hogwarts, but in the entire wizarding culture. She took another drink of her tea to cover her lack of words to contribute to the conversation, hoping that Dominique (or the others, for that matter) didn't find her too incredibly awkward.

Must keep reminding my self...

((Sorry for taking so long. I got picky and kept changing my post.))
The morning had an early start, despite the partying that had gone on the night before in the Slytherin House. He had tried his best to avoid the whole mess. Burying him self in his bed and growling or curtly tossing out empty threats at anyone who tried to get him to join the festivity. But it hadn't done much good, eventually he some how found himself giving up on the idea of sleep, instead sulking in a corner like some grim, cranky little gremlin until the party had wound down enough that he felt it safe to sleep. Unfortunately his biological clock didn't seem to care how late he had stayed up the night before, forcing him awake at the same time it always did. And so he ended up going through his normal rounds around the corridors, before the sun had even fully rision. The rounds weren't strictly necessary but had become a habit of his. He normally liked this time of day, with the sun painting the sky, it's light only dully falling through the windows and casting a wavering orange glow over the normally dull gray halls. But with darkened clouds already taking up most of the sky this morning, the sun was having to put up a bit more of a fight to get through. The halls remained gray and the sky outside seemed to reflect his foul mood.

There was a sparse sprinkling of other early birds, spread through out the halls at the time, but neither he, nor they, seemed to have much of a want to interact with the living this early on. Occasionally there was a sleepy grunt of recognition or a node from the more lively of them aimed in the Slytherin Prefects direction, but not much else.
He did say his good mornings to a few of the painting, though the partyer's, and Sir Cadogan were the only ones awake enough to really be cheerful about it. In a show of early morning enthusiasm that his neighbors most certainly didn't share, Cadogan had already taken to charging through the painting. Waking a very startled milk maid and her cows as some of the drunken partyer's siting safely on the opposite side of the hall laughed hearty, before informing the young Malfoy that he rather looked as if he'd been run over by a hippogriff this morning. With an undistinguished grumble that wasn't in the least bit great full Scorpius pulled up the hood of his robes to hide his tired face.

By the time he started making his way back around to the great hall to grab breakfast, quite a few other students had woken up and were chatting amongst each other.
As he sat down across from his cousin's, Darius was already chattering at Riley and really to any one else it seemed would listen. Scorpius barely heard any of it as he quietly dug in to breakfast, refusing a pin that was offered to him by a fourth year siting next to him. It pictured a screwed up version of Gregory Wood's face and a rather rude saying that blinked in and out.
It boggled his mind a little that they had chosen to make fun of Wood instead of a champion from one of the opposing schools. Last night the Slytherin's had been celebrating this competition just like every one else, and now they were making fun of there own champion. It seemed a little a** backwards to him.

Darius' words continued to waver in out of Scorpius' focus until he decide maybe he should actually listen but when he looked up at his two cousins it seemed the conversation was already over as Riley nodded to what ever Darius has been talking about and he got up and left with a friend. Then to his surprise Riley looked over at him with a puzzled and questioning look, that asked, 'did you hear any of that?'
The young Malfoy could only hope that what Darius had said wasn't really that important, because all he could do was shrug and give an equally confused look in return. 'Nope, sorry,' he thought back. 'When I saw you nodding I was kind of hoping you knew.'

Oh well. If it was anything serious he was sure to hear about it latter, for now he simply went back to eating the remaining eggs on his plate and idly listened to the chatter about the table. The late risers started to file in to the room. Many of there heads turning to look at the red headed Champion siting at the near-by Gryffindor table and several girls passed by, giving him flirtatious looks and pink letters. This did not settle well with his fellow Slytherin's. Suddenly there was a new energy about the table. Something bad was going to happen. Something very bad. Scorpius could just feel it. But before he could make a get away, it happened.

He wasn't sure when his house had decided they were going to orchestrate this monstrosity but apparently at some point they had. In unison, nearly the entire table burst in to song. It was most definitely not a good thing.
It was cheesy, it barely rhymed, most of them couldn't sing if there lives deepened on it, and some of them had decided to simply mumble what words they didn't remember. It was like suddenly being thrust in to a very bad musical.
Scorpius wanted to scream.
Since when was his house the one that spontaneously burst in to song? This seemed like the kind of retaliation Hufflepuffs would give. If they thought it intimidating they were dead wrong. You can not be bad a** while mumbling your way through a badly written song, no matter how insulting it may be.
Slowly the singing died down some what as people succumbed to laughing at the ridicules lyrics, or simply decided they were more interested in eating.

Scorpius relaxed again, somewhat. But now he kept an ear out for signs of it recurring. If it amused them as much as it seemed to it was likely to happen again, and Scorpius didn't want to be around if it did. Once was enough. No second act required thank you very much.

But it seemed the Slytherin in him was also listening out for something. Wanting to know, just what kind of reaction had that gotten? Did it get it's intended effect? From what he could hear, it did not. There were a few small complaints, but most people just seemed to ignore them. Like a family ignoring the alcoholic Uncle when he invaluably drinks himself in to a stupor and starts acing like an idiot at a family reunion. They were just so used to this kind of behavior from them that no one really cared anymore. It was expected of them. A fact Scorpius found rather sad. He was proud of his house, for the most part, but for other students at Hogwarts, Slytherin was considered the a*****e house.
This idea was backed up, almost on-queue by a girl sitting at the Gryffndor table. It seemed almost like she was trying to be politically correct about it, but when he looked over at the small group the Ravenclaw girl was glaring right back at them.
With a quite huff he turned back to poke at his food.

Why not try anything?
Why stop? Reach for any dream.
I can rock, cause it's my life and now's the time.

Rose just listened as Greg talked to Lola. Kinda daydreaming. Not paying attention. Until of course she heard Greg say "death". Roses head snapped sideways to turn and look at her date. Even though he was smiling to signal it was a joke, Rose didn't think it was very funny. Just the thought of Greg "dying" made Rose flinch. Trying not to think about it, she ignored the fact and just stared at Greg, and into space.
Rose softly laughed when Greg commented about Dragons. She had heard the story's of her uncle fighting a dragon at the Triwizard Tournament all those years ago. Riding his broomstick all around the Hogwarts grounds, almost dying, but finally succeeding in the task. Scary thought. She also remembered that her uncle Charlie worked with dragons a lot.
She shuddered.

Rose was pulled out of her nightmare by a soft voice, and a kiss on the cheek. It was one of her many cousins, Dominique. She was a lot like her mother, Fleur. Blond hair, unlike the red headed Weasley's. She was very independent like Rose. It wasn't like Rose and Dominique didn't get along, but sometimes Rose was irritated by her. Trying not to show it, she smiled. "Hey Dominique."

Slightly annoyed by her calling Greg "Gregy" since she really didn't know him. But, since she was tired, she blamed it on lack of sleep. Rose wanted all the people to leave so she could be alone with her date, but she knew that wouldn't happen. For now, she should share him, and not be anti-social just because she wanted to talk to him alone. No matter what she was happy to be with him at all.

Rose felt bad for Lola. Seeing she was a little uncomfortable around her cousin. Dominique was pretty, and didn't let people forget it. But that was no reason to be intimidated by her. She was very friendly and loved to make friends.

Bearly out of her thought, she heard loud singing, and yelling. Close to hating Slytherins for the stupidness. Why would they be completely stupid and obnoxious? Could they hear what they sounded like? All they did with what they were doing was embaress themselves. People like them boggled Roses mind. Looking over at the table, she noticed a red faced Scorpius Malfoy. He wasn't wearing a button, nor was he singing the song. He mostly looked like he hated it? The Malfoys were her parents worst enemies in school. Rose had never really talked to him, but stared in amazement at his resenting.

Who will I be?
It's up to me, all the never ending possibilities.
That I can see, there is nothing I can't do.

Greg jumped a bit as the girl sitting next to him quickly turned to look at him. His remark about dying in the tournament had worried Rose even though he tried to play it off as a joke. I guess it wasn’t cool to joke around about such things as death when around people who were genuinely worried about his safety. The headmistress probably would have smacked him in the back of the head if she had been near enough to hear it. The sixth year scratched the back of his head as he imagined McGonagall hitting him with a rolled up newspaper. He turned back to his friends with a grin on his face. In the corner of his eye, he could see Rose staring at him, but she was probably just spacing out now. He listened to Lola’s comment about house unity and nodded in total agreement. She glanced over at the table of silver and green, an Greg could not help but take a look for himself. They hadn’t stopped singing yet, but were slowly quieting down. Malfoy did not look all too pleased about this which made Greg snicker in amusement. He turned back to his friends, and was slightly surprised to see Lola staring at one of the Slytherin boys at the end of the table. I guess everyone has caught the bug. A grin flashed across his face when he noticed her blush, but it quickly disappeared when she refocused her attention on the conversation.

Once again, Lola was being modest. Even though he might have been in a higher year than her, she still paid more attention to class. Greg was the worst Ravenclaw you could meet. Yes, learning was fine and all, but he liked to do it at his own pace. He procrastinated on almost every project, and even resorted to copying other student’s homework. The seeker just had too many other things on his mind for him to worry about classes and grades. “Don’t be silly, Keeper. You know much more than I do. I can barely remember the past five years of History of Magic, but that’s not too surprising…” This statement was completely the truth. He had slept through the class almost everyday of the five years he had taken it, but had somehow managed to pass it every year. He had even got an “E” on his O.W.L. and the only reason for taking it this year was so he could have another period to sleep. She was correct when stating how the tournament had changed. Now that the dark lord had been long gone, it was highly unlikely anyone would be killed during this tournament. There was that one incident with a cockatrice a few tournaments ago, but that was almost forgotten about now. More recent tragic events were what everyone remembered.

Before the conversation could carry on to other subjects, a girl with blond hair with one of those smiles that Greg was afraid of sat across from Rose. A second glance at her told him that she was her cousin, Dominique. He was slightly surprised that she had addressed him as Gregy. They were in the same year and had several of the same classes, but they rarely ever spoke to each other. The nickname stung a little because a few muggles had taunted him with it when he was younger. Integrating into that sort of society was not too hard for him, but there are always those people you just wish would go away. Not wanting to seem rude or antisocial, Greg put on the best smile he could muster . “Good morning Dominique.” Lola also looked quite uncomfortable, but that could be because she was timid when meeting new people. It had surprised the seeker that she had actually joined them at the Gryffindor Table. He took a few sips of juice as he waited for the awkward moment to lift a bit.

[[I oppologize. Really i do. I havn't been able to post in much anything latley. I've had time to log on and check mail, other than that, nadda. And i must admit this is rather a sorry post.]]

Dominique gave Lola a wide grin. She liked meeting new people, Even though they found her intimidating sometimes. She never knew why exactly. She thought she was a nice person over all, unless someone really frustrated her. She could feel herself still beaming at the Ravenclaw. With her luck the girl would get a bit scared of her. ”It’s very charming to meet you Miss.Lola” Dominique gave her another quick grin as she heard Gregory speak a sort of unwilling hello to the girl. She smirked at the boy with a most unknowing eye of the misfortune in the nickname she‘d just used. She’d heard often of what their many cousins said about Greg and Rosie in the short time since the year‘d begun. She’d learned simply this morning that The two were to go together to the ball. This made Dominique very cheerful. Her cousin had a right for her own share of amusement after all. She only hoped Gregory wouldn’t turn foul on her dear cousin. Dominique gave Lola another polite smile. She wasn’t to familiar with the girl and wondered much about her now. She simply knew her name and by the way the ravenclaw Gregory spoke to her, she only naturally assumed she to be a ravenclaw also.

Dominique could feel the slight tension growing with every second she sat stationed at the table. The Hufflpuff bit her lip as she searched for the correct words. She didn’t really want to out-stay her welcome for say, but she did want to ask her cousin a rather pressing question. As she sat she noticed, well more heard, then noticed the rather large group of Slytherin students cheering about and making a ruckus. Dominique made a rather unbecoming scowl of a face as she glanced in their direction. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind as why they were labeled as the quote on quote ‘bad’ students. No doubt at all. Dominique began to simply ignore the silly nonsense of the students behind them and focused back to her cousin. ”Rosie my dear I really might ask you to be pulled away for only a smidge? “ Dominique gave her cousin a reassuring smile, it was nothing serious, of coarse; Dominique simply felt uncomfortable at the time with the newcomers aside her. Dominique wished to confide in her cousin upon a few matters. She wondered about their cousin Albus, and how the incident of the Slytherin girl had bothered him so. She wondered if the snake had hexed him or something foul of sorts. As to that she wondered if Rosie had seen her owl. She’d gone missing more than a few days ago, and she couldn’t be sure if one of her other cousins mistaken it for theirs. As for the other matter, she waited for her cousin to slip into the hall for that.
