Lest we forget

I know this isn't really that important, but which translation of the bible do you personally use? Why do you use it? Have you used other translations and prefer your current one? Or do prefer a past translation you've used or ran into?

I myself use the New International Version (NIV). I use it because it's very concise, and it's the one that my church uses. It also seems to be pretty standard, because generally everything I run into comes from the NIV. It's also very easy to dig into. Previously I have used the Good News Bible, it's the one my old denomination bought for me, but it really just seems like a paraphrase. It's nice to read, but I've never been able to study from it. There just doesn't seem to be the background for that. I enjoy using it as my devotional bible. Also on my bookshelf is a copy of The New Century Version. NCV. I've used it maybe two or three times, it also makes a nice devotional but not a study bible. Both the GNT, and the NCV are in about a grade 5 reading level.
I don't mind the New Living Translation, but I personally don't use it unless I am doing youth work.

I like NLT. It's the easiest to understand I've seen.

I own my own Amplified Bible, so I normally use that when I'm reading for detail.
Any other time, I have a NAS to read.

I actually use four different Bibles, each with a different translation. I think it's interesting to see how things are worded differently, and it helps me understand better.
I use the NIV (New International Version,) NIrV (New International readers' Version,) which I got when I was younger, the King James version, and a Catholic "All-American" translation or something like that. It's the same Bible, but with extra books. We found that in our front yard.

I use the NKJV because its really fun to use and its closer to the original KJV. I like the New Century version too. I use my extreme-teen bible to make notes and underline passages.

I use the ESV( English Standard Version)

It's amazing, and the most accurate up-to-date translation. It combines the poetic style of the King James with a more up to date word choice (not contemporary, but not old school either). It's a word-for-word translation so it stays as true to the original manuscripts, unlike The Message which is contemporary paraphrase.

I love it :] It's amazing.

I use the NIV, mostly because it's what I've always used and most people I know use it. It's so annoying to be in a Bible study or something where everyone has different versions. I find NIV to be the most common with people I know.

I am using the NKJV which is very good at helping you understand the verses better then the KJV. Which is very old school. But I was raised with the KJV and still love to read it. In 2005 my daughter brought me a Bible that has 4 different translations in it. So I love to use this Bible when I'm studying. The 4 translations are KJ, Amplified, New American Standard, and New International. If it was not so thick I'd carry it with me to church so I could read the different translation's but one things for sure so far I find that they all pretty much mean and say the same thing but some are a little easier to understand for us. God bless and thanks for such a good question. I enjoyed reading some of the other answers. It's also inspired me to check out a few other translations I would not of done before.

I like the Contemporary English Version. It's the translation I've been using ever since my very first Bible when I was a kid (the one that's falling apart now xd ), so I just kind of stuck with it. Also, the little footnotes are helpful.

I use the KJV. It is a great study Bible and also very concise. I do not, however, prefer a version over another. I can read and get the meaning from just about every version out there.
