"Digimon vs. Pokemon" is BS

CAUTION: RANTING.

Are any of the rest of you tired of people comparing Digimon to Pokemon or making them out like rivals? Any sensible person who has FULLY watched both series would know that the two are so different that they're not even worth calling competitors. Then there are those nose-picking idiots who say that Digimon copied Pokemon, yet are usually the same people who collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Connect the dots.

I theorize (and will probably have a literal experiment) that the one and only reason people are even putting those two series together is because of their titles. My theory is that if Digimon was called "Guardians" or something, people would be comparing Pokemon more to its TRUE competitor; Yu-Gi-Oh. Sure both series have to do with cute little monsters. I get that. But again they're stories and premises are so different its laughable.

If Jirachi came out of nowhere to grant me a wish, I would wish that people would stop comparing these two great animes. Doing so is like comparing Sailor Moon to Chobits because "omg the main characters both have blond hair hur hur hur." rolleyes

:edit: This just in; I researched the creator of Pokemon. Very sweet man. Anyhoo, he loves games and even made his own magazine called "Game Freak." How could he feel a rivalry with something he loves? (Games?) And Digimon is more of a game than a series or trading card game. 3nodding

Digimon started as a male version of the Tamagatchi where Pokemon I think was something else before being a game. Digimon consist of two worlds the human and the digital, where Pokemon only has one, and the biggest difference is Digimon can go back to a previous form where Pokemon can't. Why people think Digimon is a copy of Pokemon I'll never know.

The Only reason most people see Digimon and Pokemon as rivals or copies of one or the other is the Mon part. Both coming into the American culture main stream as around the same time. Both containing monster that young teens run around and fight with. Both have a lot of common points but that can often be said about a lot of programs aided at children. Digimon and Pokemon aren't as much as a rip off of each other as say YuGiOh and the other card games that have TV shows. I don't know their names off the top of my head but I'm sure you have an image at least of what I'm referring to.

But Pokemon at its core is basically a Trading Card Game with a monster raising element. So it kinda fits to both YuGiOh and Digimon.
