It seems odd to me how many Christians view their God as a ridged and inflexible god. God got very angry when people worshiped statues, and it is funny how people would then make God into a block of granite, always the same, never changing, and unyielding.
A very large complaint about the bible is that it contradicts itself. It may make sense, if one realizes, that the books and letters were all written at different times. Nothing lasts forever; even the universe will be packed up and put on the shelf to make room for something new. I feel that God, who is all powerful, is aware of this thing we call time. I believe that and all powerful being is able to change the rules whenever he wishes, in order to suit the time and situation. It is repeatedly stated that God is a living God. It would be much easier to worship a statue or a tree, because those “Gods” would never make new edicts or shift the focus of their religion.
Many people quote Leviticus, many say that those rules and punishments are obsolete. I would have to agree with the latter group of people. I feel that the law featured in Leviticus was necessary for that time and that place. It can be hard to remember that the bible was written over a period of centuries. The Old Testament is preserved very well, but then, it is the history of the Hebrew people. By extension, The Old Testament is the history of the Christian God as well. As a history, the bible gives one perspective; the reader learns how things have been done. People have changed, the planet has changed, and I believe that God has changed. I also ask, “Why are Christians trying to apply Hebrew law to themselves and one another?” St. Paul already corrected St. Peter about this. St. Peter wanted the gentles (non-Hebrew Christians) to follow the law as written in the Torah (The Old Testament). St. Paul basically told St. Peter that; the Old Testament laws were written for the Hebrew Nation, it would be stupid to insist that non-Hebrew converts follow Jewish law. Again I ask, “Why in the hell are Christians quoting Old Testament laws at everyone?” Jesus changed everything. People no longer go to hell for sinning. They used to, but that has changed. The New Testament made it quite clear; God loves everyone, and anyone can join the club.
I am supremely tired of “Christian” gay bashing.
I am tired of Churches telling people what they can and cannot do.
Such things may be your opinion, but it is your opinion.
You have read the New Testament, and then dare to tell people that God does not love them!

I believe these “Christians” will probably go to heaven. I would, however, like to see them on judgment day. All the people whom they have hurt and those they have driven from God will still get to stand and accuse them. Then, they will see all of the evil that they have done in God’s name. After that, they can walk through the pearly gates; I just want to see it.
Discuss: fake Christians and/or belonging to a group that has been given a bad reputation because of it’s members.

yeah, this can also be found in the chatter box.

This is a very interesting topic.

Would Christians who force their ways upon you be considered 'fake christians'? I've always wondered that...
