"As well as can be expected when I have to travel with the flightless wonder here," he replied, jerking his thumb towards Nate, who had gone to see what had become of his kitchen. Chris watched him depart, shaking his head as he took up his usual seat at the bar and pulled out his harmonica. "I do like what you've done with the place, Charlotte. It feels good to be home."

Charlotte watched Nate take to the kitchen with a curious hum. "I hope he doesn't mind that I put a small fishing pond in there..."

Turning back to Chris, she grinned brightly. "Unless he likes his very fresh, of course, because then it'll be fine and dandy. But! Tell me a tale, have a seat by the apple tree! We'll be having a picnic, so soon as we find the blanket: it's lovely to see you again~" she said, shuffling over to give him a hug.

"He does enjoy a good fresh trout..."

SPLASH!!!!!

"...but perhaps not that fresh," Chris stated as he took a seat next to her.

The door to the kitchen swung open, revealing a soggier Nate than the one who had entered. He glared around the room before squawking an angry reply and storming of to his room.

Charlotte laughed merrily, slapping her knee in good cheer as the bird sulked off.

"Oh goodness me, I'm sorry, but I didn't think he'd try it empty-winged." she snickered, wiping an eye dry of a tear. "Those trout aren't the easy ones, they're rainbow, yes they are...and feisty too! You've got to charm them!"

Zulma stepped in and moved straight to her room to drop her bags. She couldn't believe she was home for Christmas. Sadly, as usual, she dreaded that it wouldn't last long and that she would disappear on her friends, who she considered like family, without even a goodbye.

After having freshened up her face, she walked down to pour herself a drink and sat at the bar. The place was calm but she didn't mind.

"Home sweet home!" she toasted before sipping a glass of water.

"Hello!" Chris called out as he entered the Inn. "Is anybody home?" He set his bags down on the floor, worn and torn to indicate plenty of use from long travels. He took in the scene in front of him. The Inn was quiet and empty. Nobody was there and, if the layer of dust on the furniture was anything to go by, hadn't been for some time.

Chris reached around the bar for his usual bottle, only to discover it wasn't there. He sunk sadly onto a bar stool. "Home sweet home," he muttered to himself.
