How do you say, "The cow is eating the salad" ?

I noticed how your question was never answered. Anywho, I believe that this would be how you say it:

うしはサラダをたべます。 - ushi ha sarada wo tabemasu.
However, you could also use te + imasu on the end of taberu to make the verb continuous, but you don't have to if you don't know te form yet.

how do you say

imagine (my name)
mom
dad
friend
happy birthday
goodnight
i hate you

in japenese??? mrgreen mrgreen plz and thankies

イマジン - imajin
お母さん - okaa-san (considering you're reffering to your own mom, if it's someone else's mom then it would be 母
- haha)
お父さん - otou-san (same goes for dad, if it's someone else's it'd be 母 - chichi )
友達 - tomodachi (most common way to say it, this one though is mostly used as a plural verb)
お誕生日おめでとう - otanjyoubi omedetou
お休みなさい - oyasuminasai (can be also simply oyasumi)
お前の事が大嫌いです - omae no koto ga daikirai desu (this can be said in many ways, but this sounds kind of harsh and hateful so yeah)

I thought the family terms ending with -さん were usually for other people's family...? And I was pretty sure はは (母) and ち ち (父)referred to the speaker's parents.

...and how is "friend" a verb?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:48 am
Faux you are right on all counts. You can say はは and ちち for your own parents along with あね and あに for your big sister and brother. But it is also true that you can use the polite versions of these as well. It is all a matter of speaker's preference and who you are speaking to.

As for ともだち ...it is not a verb is it a noun. You can make it a verb, but in this state it is a simple noun. *^_^*

Hope that clears it up a bit.
