ChibiTotoro222 Well, when I read a manga/watch an anime, the one thing that is a must is that I have to admire the artwork. No matter how good the storyline is, I'm very picky on the artwork.
Actually, I don't even take the time to figure out the story if I don't like the artwork in the first place. IE - Love Roma
aaaahhhhh a kindred spirit. I'm like this with my manga mostly, if the artwork is just bad, I will not read it, it's just too bloody distracting. I know artists grow and their style can change over the years *cough cough* Bleach, but if the bar is set soooo low that improving would just make it barely tolerable, no just no.
Being an artist myself I tend to be a little toooooo picky and certain art styles are just a put off cause it feels like it's cheating when they try to just simplify everything. We LOVE anime and manga because it's usually such a beautiful art form visually and the "best" ones are usually ones that are the most visually appealing. So when I see and artist who has no sense of proportioning or how the human form works in general, that they ignore key steps because it would take too long, that really bugs me.
However after getting past the art style if the story is just dumb or cookie cutter of fifty other anime/manga then I'll also stop. Nothing is original now a days, or at the very least it's almost impossible, but of you change it enough to make it feel new and fresh that's what makes the difference for people. Have a little love for your art man, don't just make something because you "think" it'll be popular.
