Catalytic Productions Man, that makes me wish that I'd seen Arenas back then. That must've been a long time ago. I mean, I've been on Gaia since '04 (not in this account, this is actually a mule) but I used to hang out in places like Barton Town and Avatar Talk rather than Arenas. Mind you *looks at when this guild was founded* I got into comics on Gaia about four years ago, but I wasn't aware of much outside the Comic Creators forum. I only realised Gaia had a Comics Arena like... last year.
Yeah, i've been on gaia since 05, but never really socially active. I never got to see the arenas in the hay day, but apparently it was awesome.
Catalytic Productions I'm never the leader but I always seem to be the one who refuses to let something die, even when I probably should just give up x3 Even now the studio is struggling slightly due to members leaving or going inactive, but I know that we can be great if I can just find people to stick with us... you know? Anyway, if you want to try and get -0 going again then I'll help in any way I can. You guys can try advertising in the Comic Creators forum for a start. I'm sure people there would be interested to know about this sort of guild and they're bound to have suggestions about things they'd like to see here as well.
Seems like really great ideas, advertising in the CC, getting new members, almost hopeful. But really, I dont think I'll be able to be the one to do it. I've never been a very consistently active member, and I prefer to haunt threads than post. I guess what I'm saying is I'm tired. I'm tired of the guild being inactive and I'm tired to think of what I'll have to do if it becomes active. I'm not cut out for this sort of thing.
I dont even own this guild.
Sorry if i sound like i'm rambling, I kinda have the flu right now, and it's been awhile since I last had to think about this. XD At once I think things'll be easier if i had full control over what to do about this guild, but i also think it'll be so much trouble having to be in charge. I think you actually have more experience than I in this regard. Are guilds usually self sustaining if they have enough active members?
Catalytic Productions Heh, I'm surprised, but then Gaia is so vast that it's easy just to confine yourself to one area of it and not know about the others at all. The CC is a good forum, although the regulars can be quite blunt and no-nonsense in the things they say and they have little patience for n00bs xD They have strong opinions and arguments tend to flare up a lot but just ignore them. razz
I like blunt, no one ever learned from pats on the back. The trick is to not let strong opinions get you down. Keep an open mind and all that, wot. XD
But yeah, throughout my younger years I got nothing but "OMG you're amazing aaaaah!" So on the one hand I seek criticism, but on the other i'm not used to getting it. Now how about that? XD
Catalytic Productions If you're interested, I actually wrote a blog entry about Gaia's relationship with comics which covers some of the resources it has which you can make use of as a comic creator. At the bottom I added some useful links, of which -0 is one :3
Thanks for the plug in, XD. I read your blog, you have some good stuff in there. It's important to remember the target demographics of gaiaonline, those of us who joined gaia years ago are already in or going into college, but there are kids out there who still haven't quite found their feet.
I dont know why, but this conversation is making me want to try and bring this guild back to life. But not in the "make it the way it was" kind, because I'm not sure what that means exactly, but in the "give it a new start, in a Docter Who regeneration type thing." Maybe I should have a talk with the captain.

Aww, that's a little sad X3 Yet another aspect of Gaia that's gone downhill since floods of users joined, I guess...

Nah it's fine, I totally get where you're coming from. I'd feel the same if I were in your position; it's a bit awkward to suddenly assume a position of responsibility when it's not your project, your guild or thread or forum. Dragging things back to life gets really tiring as well. You have no idea how many inactive members I've had to chase up over the years... in fact, even I have no idea how many it's been xD
Whether or not a guild/group is self-sustaining usually depends on how dedicated its members are to it. But from my experience, yeah, it's totally possible. Even CP, which averages about ten members at best, always has one or two who will keep it going during the inactive periods. Of course, the best guilds are the ones that have a lot of stuff going on so that people don't lose interest, but it's a lot easier said than done.

Haha, that's fair enough xD By the way, i saw u posting thar ;3 I'm afraid you caught me in the middle of one of those arguments I mentioned earlier... I normally know better than to get involved in those, but I have some things I feel strongly about xD I guess I'm one of these sorts of people xD
Feel free to come and chat in the Catalytic Productions thread, by the way X3 I hang out there on my main account, enchantedsleeper.

Haha, it's no problem, and thanks very much ^^ Too bad our blog has no followers, but in time I hope it will :3

That's great! =D I think a regeneration is your best bet, since the face of Gaia and of the guild has changed since it was first founded. Better to move with the times and use what resources you can find now x3 Also, you like Doctor Who?! HIGH FIVE!

I suppose first thing I'll have to do is do some research and see what are some "stuff" a comic guild can do. XD

Yeah, i dropped by for a peek. I'm not sure its a place I'll enjoy frequenting. I was really turned off by all the "manga or comic" threads and "LOOKIT MAI COMIC IT IZ KAWAII NE!!"
Heh, maybe I'll give it another try when i'm not sick XD

Catalytic Productions Too bad our blog has no followers, but in time I hope it will :3 I'd follow your blog if I was one to follow blogs, but I'm not so I dont suppose it'll do you much good. XD Keep at it though, and if you write something you'd like to share feel free to post a link on the front page.

Haha, well the things that you're doing now like contests and advice threads are the right sort of thing; you just need some more people willing to participate. I wish I could enter your contest but I'm no comic artist, just a writer sad (The comic I included as part of my application was written by me but drawn by my friend Emihaumut)

Don't worry about it razz Even I'm put off when browsing the forum. It's the reason why our regulars are all so bitter, blunt and troll-ish xD But if you need feedback on a comic, you'll get it there, and I can recommend the thread Comic Creators Free Talk as being a great hangout. It's where all the regulars go to talk about anything and everything, comic-related or not.

Thanks! It's okay, I don't follow blogs either xD I just like to talk a lot and pretend lots of people are listening.

Catalytic Productions zerochan923600 Hm, I dont suppose we've ever discriminated between writers and artists, we can make future contests more accessible to those of your field if you would like to participate. Heheh, well if you didn't mind me submitting a comic script, then I could take part X3 It would be good practice for me.
If you think you still have enough time, you can go ahead and submit a script. I'll give full details for writers on the next contest, since time is kinda short for this one, but yeah, go for it. Remember, if no one else submit anything that tombstone can be all yours. And besides, its all for good practice anyways, right?
I'll expect it to be at least four to six panels worth of script though. Remember, I am offering extensions.

Haha, thanks! It might be a bit short notice but I'll bend my brain towards it. And don't worry, I doubt you can really make a comic with fewer panels than that. x3
That's a pretty valuable item to be putting up as a prize, by the way. Is it yours?
