Noj shrugged, "No, not at the moment, but I probably will be in a little bit, just sit around till the time comes probably." He still had words for the assassin but decided not to say them. He was either still aggravated at how quickly Cellyn had let someone previously after their lives join them, or at the mans manner, but whatever the case it irked him. Besides, Noj was quite sure the assassin cared for his words and much as Noj cared for his, so it was pointless anyway one looked at it. Noj continued to rock himself back and forth, deciding to not really care. Yes it did bother him that they got along so well regardless, and that Noj was already feeling outsiderish even though he was the first hired off, and he was the one who had done most of the work, so he was bothered by the feeling of being pushed off to the side, but if worst came to worst he'd just leave. He did want to stay for whatever reason he couldn't think of, but he refused to be leftover meat despite the pay or benefit, it wasn't his fault that he saw the world as he did by any account. Sighing as he realized he was over thinking it, he left the decision on whether to leave or not for a later time, he had an Aes Sedai and Warders to look for nonetheless. He'd leave his doubts and whatever else aside till after they were confronted, because he thought that he owed Cellyn at least that much.

"Have it your way, I figured I'd ask," she replied with a nod. "How much longer are you planning on staying here, Noj? I mean, one dead body is quite enough in my opinion, I'd like to leave before there's any more," Cellyn continued with a bit of a grimace.
Jurel shrugged her criticism off easily. He looked to the man curiously. It was plain to him something was bothering the guard and he grinned to himself - was the man jealous? He'd put money on it, even if he didn't know it himself. "As I said before, I'm merely another body between you and any ruffians," he said with a stretch of his arms. "It doesn't matter at all to me where we go or when we go to it."
"That's good, since I wasn't going to ask you anyway," she replied with a sugary smile Noj should know all too well at this point, her voice blasted puppies and kittens if one had to guess. It was too sweet.

Noj shrugged, rocking back and forth on the rear legs of his chair. "It doesn't matter to me, I'm plenty rested and healed enough. I'm still sore but it's entirely livable. I'd say at the least one more night and we can head off in the morning if you wish it." At this point he really didn't care, since he was evaluating his place by how the Aes Sedai was taken care of, after that he was going to move in one way or the other. "But since I'm merely hired muscle I'd think my input is only at the discretion of the one who hired. I would agree that after the dead body we should make tracks, but sleeping in the cold and snow is hardly preferable to a bed in my opinion." Noj threw up one of his old fake chuckles, playing himself off to be a bit of the idiot again. "Anyway Milady, I'm going to get some rest, I appear to be more tired than I originally thought." Standing up, he stretched his shoulders and walked to the stairs, and eventually to the room, lighting the fire with Saidin, bundling up in a warm cloak and leaned against the foot of the bed, watching the flames.

Jurel, sensing Cellyn's tone, was quick to beat a hasty retreat. "I'll go bed down with the horses, as promised," he said, quickly rising to his feet and backing away towards the door. "I'll be waiting in the morning for the two of you," he continued, before disappearing from the room.
Cellyn was left alone again, peeved at Noj's behavior. "Light blasted fool wants to feel sorry for himself," she grumbled, stomping up the stairs and into the room, where Noj was already stretched out on the bed. "You do realize I don't trust him as far as I can throw him, right?" she snapped, keeping her back to him as she brushed her hair loose. "Isn't it better to have him where we can keep an eye on him than hiding in the shadows? He did manage to get the better of you once," she added sourly, crossing her arms and looking out the window. "There's no need to be nasty You've never been so bloody polite, not even when we met. Do you think I like him better, or trust him more, or some bloody Light-blasted stupid idea?" She turned on him, face flushed from anger.

Noj sat up, keeping his eyes on the fire. "I just dislike the man I suppose and prefer keeping him at arms length, since a dagger has a shorter reach than my sword." Noj did keep many daggers hidden about his person, one of which was digging into the small of his back. "And I just feel strange in addition. I'm not really used to belonging to anything that saw my accompaniment valued beyond crowns, or my bringing value to any relationship further than that myself, so I just feel as if I'm trying to cross a river on a path of loose stones, and I guess I did feel myself a bit usurped. And, in my defense, even if his judgement bettered mine for a moment, I did choose to let him live, killed many of his men, and lodged a dagger in his employer, so he has some catching up to do." Happy with that, Noj stood up and readjusted himself on the floor, which brought him a little closer to the fire, and leaned against the bed. He could apologize, but from what he understood, Cellyn liked it better when he didn't so whatever, he left it lay. The only real weakness in his manner was that he had a hard time looking her in the eye at the moment for whatever reason, so he chose not to try.

Cellyn was momentarily surprised the man had admitted anything at all, instead of just snapping back and her and storming from the room like she expected, but she recovered quickly. "Light, is that assassin right? Is Noj jealous of him?" She didn't dwell on the ridiculousness of that thought and put her hands on her hips, glaring at him.
"If you ever call me 'Milady' again I'll hang you from a post by your nether regions and leave you for the Trollocs," she promised firmly, meaning every word. She noticed he kept staring at the fire and mistook it for dismissive behavior. Cellyn stalked over to stand directly in front of him, her knees blocking his view. "If you can't trust me to have at least a little common bloody sense, then there's no point in you staying. So either you admit I have a brain or bugger off," she told him, staring down at the top of his head.

Jurel chuckled to himself, leaning against his horse's stall. He hadn't expected the little lordling to send someone so soon, let alone stumble across them in this backwards hamlet. It worked to his advantage, in his mind, as he thought he was able to prove he could be trusted. "No matter either way," he thought, shrugging as he rolled over on his side. "If they didn't need me, that oaf would have skewered me in a heartbeat."

Noj looked up to her face, still feeling a bit uncomfortable at the thought of looking her in the eyes focused on her nose instead, a good trick he thought he'd never need in allowing timid people to look directly at a person. "I never thought you were stupid by any means, a bit naive maybe, but not brainless. Education wise you'd probably make me look like a child." Looking away from her nose he glanced around for a moment before leaning his head back and looking at the ceiling. "I'm just having a bit of an internal struggle that makes no sense I guess." Noj chuckled, "And I'll keep the Milady thing in mind, since I don't really want that to happen."

Cellyn smiled. There seemed to still be something bothering Noj, although she wasn't sure what, but if he thought a merchant's daughter wouldn't notice when someone wasn't looking her in the eye he was delusional. "You do that and we'll be fine," she said lightly, stepping over him and climbing into the bed, shucking her shoes onto the floor. Her dress was already wrinkled, sleeping in it wouldn't hurt. And if they were leaving in the morning like the two men said, then she had a traveling dress ready anyway to spare the rest of her clothes the dirt from the road. "Now, unless you want to leave me helpless with Jurel in charge tomorrow, you'll get some sleep so you're as sharp as you can be. It's not much, but it's better than nothing," she amended with an exaggerated sigh.

Noj nodded, mostly to himself. "Aye." He remembered the interplay between them about him sleeping in the bed but he decided against it. The thought seemed strange to him for some reason or another. Besides, he was comfortable enough leaning against the bed frame wrapped in the thick cloak with the fire's warmth keeping the cold away. He wondered what was in store for him over the next few days. Aes Sedai, Asha'man, Shadowspawn, or various other things. If they followed the context of the previous few days then he was in for a ringer if he ever knew one, but he decided that he'd take life one step at a time at this point, otherwise he'd just tire himself out until he wasn't useful. He still wasn't entirely sure if he still wanted to stay with the just recently made group or not, Cellyn may have said she didn't exactly trust the assassin, but along those thoughts what exactly made him trustworthy? He had saved her from capture, but that could be written off as doing what he was paid to do at the time, for as of yet Noj hadn't found a single crown for his service (not that he was looking for one) so in a way his actions could be written off as him waiting to be paid. He wasn't, but the thought made him wonder for a bit, before making himself comfortable and waiting for sleep to come.

Cellyn wrapped herself in the blankets and faced the wall, finding herself suddenly exhausted by the events of the past few days. She hadn't slept well during any of them and it was bound to catch up to her, as a jaw-splitting yawn proved. "My life has turned into some sort of insane happening. And to think I used to envy hearing stories about the latest doings of the Dragon..." She passed out before she had the chance to finish the sentence.

Her dreams remained empty of any strange old men or messages, battles or lights, and she woke up when she heard the rustle of maids outside the door, going up and down the hall. Glancing up through the thin curtains confirmed her guess - it was before dawn, just like the two men had planned on leaving. "Urgh...it's too early," she groaned, attempting to untangle herself from the blankets by rolling to her feet. Instead, she managed to roll off the bed and into Noj's lap.

Noj, who was previously sound (well, lightly) asleep, jerked, reaching around for his sword and at the same time for what fell on him when he felt soft skin, and a couple thoughts ran through his mind at once. The only type that had ever tried to kill him in his sleep were normally smelly and hairy, and this was, to his knowledge neither. Putting his hand down he leaned his head forward and opened his eyes, seeing Cellyn on top of him. Was she there earlier? Did she fall out of the bed or just roll around...Noj could swear that he didn't drink any ale, and that if he had, he'd choose the bed, and that if what came to what he'd get a swift kick between the legs anyway. But, to be safe. "I didn't do it."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 11:37 am
"Of course you didn't, I fell off the bed," she informed him, blushing brightly as she scrambled off him onto the floor. It took a few minutes for her to untangle herself from the mess she had made and she finally sighed in relief, tossing the blankets over her head onto the bed. "Sorry about that," Cellyn added sheepishly, getting to her feet and trying to straighten herself out.

Jurel snickered to himself, hearing a thump from the room. He had opted to sleep in the hallway just to be sure, although he planned to disappear back to the stables before they came out. "What the thing going on between those two, anyway?" he wondered, sauntering back to the horses with no one the wiser. He couldn't tell if they were friends, enemies or employer and employee. Strange, strange people.

Noj coughed a bit awkardly, glad that he was indeed still clothed, a good sign. Well, not hygenically, wearing clothes to sleep and then proceeding to use them the next day didn't present the image of clean, but it meant that he didn't do anything he couldn't remember. "Uh, don't worry about it, I'm sure it was an accident." Not sure quite what to do, Noj went over to the mirror, combing out his hair with his fingers, before grabbing his sword and looping it through his belt. "Anyway, I spose we should best be on our way, busy day and all." Making sure that Cellyn was out of sight of the door, Noj wiggled through and shut it behind him, noticing Jurel, and ready to punch him in the nose for a smart comment, but luckily, all the man did was laugh at him, under his breath of course, what a polite guy. Noj would just have to punch him in the gut later. Heading downstairs, he moved immediately to the stables and shook his head. Noj had no intention to jump her skin, and was rather sure she had no intention for his, but maybe he should consider seperate rooms in the future. He hadn't thought about what he might do after enough ale. She wasn't bad to look at, despite her attitude(objectively Noj could probably say that about himself too) so ale could lead to unforseen circumstance and happenstance that he didn't want anything to do with. He had a few friends that had left women with child in a fit of drunkeness, and if there was one thing he was sure of, he didn't want that to happen to him. Noj paused mid step, imagining himself sitting in a room, and a little him running in, with a Cellyn right behind. No, just....no.

((I totally cracked up reading that last line. And use PARAGRAPHS, you're killing me with walls of texts! gonk ))

Cellyn grumbled to herself once he was gone and changed into a clean dress, rolling the other up in her bag and making sure she was presentable before heading downstairs. She didn't see either of the men there and assumed they had gone to the stables. "That's all well and good, but I'm starving," she muttered under her breath, taking a seat at a table and smiling at the girl who hurried over. They only served one thing for breakfast, which made her choice that much easier, and she settled in with a sigh to wait, pleased for some peace and quiet after the awkward morning.

"You have a good night?" Jurel asked with a hint of a snicker as the other man came into the stables. The 'reformed' assassin was already readying his horse, having given them all a good brushing during the night.
