They arn't and never should even think of actually re-making FFVII. Great games are best to be left alone. Which they try to use the FFVII titles/sidestories tograb extra money from fans. If they attempt to make another it would fall short of the original. (I have played almost all re-makes forGba, DS, and PsP, they are great in graphics but seemingly they put add-ons instead of keeping things original.) im sorry but Square Soft/Square Enix should NOT attempt to make a re-make of FFVII, espically with they made FF games most recently. FFXII was kinda of a fail with its battle system and im waiting for XIII to be released. But in all this is just my opinion. If they attempt to make an add-on to the story, then it would be better to see the promise land, or a main villan that isn't a sephiroth copy/imitation.

I don't think it would hurt anything if they try. The old would still be there no matter what. If anything they should remake the old games exactly as they are for the newer consoles cuz that stuff is harder to find nowadays. Especially memory cards I think. If you don't expect much you'll always be a happy camper lol. You'll always have your people that will love the old and you'll have your people that love the new. No matter what though they would still make tons of money off it even if it is crap just because of the title lol and the fact it's a VIDEO GAME.

Oh, so many good arguments from both sides... *sigh* I agree, it's worth a try. At the very least, I always count on the original game to count as "canon" if anything conflicts. (Like how the Nibelheim scene is done about five times? I still say the version from VII is the one that's right.) Because that's what's most important to me, the story. I'm afraid they'll mess that up. Tim, you sound like you're afraid they'll change the battle system, but that would be just kind of dumb. confused The one the have works so well, and it's tied into the story besides, so they'd better not change it. I think it's due for a graphics update, maybe a more accurate translation, and if they insist on adding things, a couple of Easter eggs or minigames would be all right. The core of the game shouldn't change.

I know I've said all this before, but y'know. xd

The Promised Land... Well, while it's never said outright, it's sort of implied tht the Lifestream is the Promised Land, so... yeah.

Correction, when someone utters Final Fantasy. FFVII comes to mind the most. And thanks to crisis core, Advent Children, and Dirge of cerberus, an already Awsome story became TOO extended. Some originals should be left alone and VII is truthfully should be left alone. I wouldn't care for an graphical update, and cutscenes with sound, instead of text, that way emotion is captured. I am against FFXII's fighting style. It was terrible. The story was good, and art/design was pretty good. The most used turn-base is from the original FFIV, which I perfer some-what over FFXII's style.

And if they would try to re-make it.....then it really doesn't matter. But, i still think making stories similar to the main one. (Crisis Core as an Example, messed with FFVII, when cloud flashed back to the Mako reactor in Neibliheim.) FF should remain a non-linnear story.

As for mkaing add-on stories are ways the companey makes extra or even huge amounts of money, just because the it is titled Final Fantasy.
People always want the newest Final Fantasy games, because they want something that can be better than FFVII. Which FFVIII was close, FFX-I was good, but came third. Then the games are kinda going into a decline, in the gameplay, like plots that can't be liked, or tricky new level/equipment, item screens. Plus, they arn't just focusing on FF. But KH and other titles. Final Fantasy series is the best known.

But in short term, Im for it as long as everything except graphics, and cutscenes, remain the same.

Yes. They should re-make it. With the new outfits as well.

I'd rather play a new game set in FFIIV universe, I think.

Me too. Don't get me wrong, I'd buy an enhanced remake of 7, even though I already have a copy I got off the PSN. Heres to hoping for a FFVII-2... and to Cloud finally getting the nerve to ask Tifa out on a date ( he beat something thats close to a god, OHKO a super soldier that wiped out an entire village in five minutes, beat him again after a year of being a delivery boy, and STILL can't ask her out on a date (remember, depending on what your answers were, it was Tifa that asked Cloud out at the Gold Saucer)

Oh, and heres to hoping that Yuffie gets her own game, that other secret character got his own game...

I think it'd be a cool idea. Its their most popular game, it'll sell really well for sure. And if they do, I hope they keep it all the same, except for better graphics of course.

I'd hope they add more, better music, voice actors, maybe a few new pieces of materia to play around with.

No way, they can't change the music. I don't think it's even possible to have "better music," unless you just mean higher-quality versions of the same songs. Nobuo Uematsu did an absolutely brilliant job on this game, and changing it would destroy the feel of thie game. I wouldn't even feel like I'm playing the same thing.

I would like to see a remake of VII. But only if it would be a copy of the old game, just with better graphics.

tell you the truth i thought about a remake with better graphics and heres what i have to ask hows the sonic 3D games coming along? if something is great the first time, don't f**k with it. you'll kill it, unless you understand the equation like Koei for the Dyanasty Warriors and Samurai warriors series. even then they fumble the ball at times. as far as i am concered, putting it on the PSN and is good enough as with the story expantions like Derge.(i know why Vinny did the game too, just PM me asking why, it's rather funny and weired by my standers which is saying something)

I'll give you the fact Derge sucked at times but thats why Yuffie is there to make it all better.

I just hope that the next derge i read some where being made keeps some of the ground basics from the first one but is altered by the advice of the players.

P.S. i know i overly typed this but it's how i am with things.

P.S.S. my neice loves to play the Sega over the PS3 and Wii, and she is not even Ten i think

Hello fellow FF7 fanatics wink
Obviusly my answer is YES, they should remake....I saw one game entitled Tales of Destiny being remaked and I think FF7 has a possibility, that is if Squaresoft should reconsider XD

I know i'm a bit late to the party (say about 3 months late) and someone might have said this, but there were two things said about remaking FF7 from different people from the FF team:

One person (i cant remember who nor find the quote) said something along the lines that people wouldn't like the combat in FF7 today, and would find it boring. I read this as I was replaying FF7 on my PSP, so I found it pretty hilarious.

Another, more official source said that they would love to remake FF7 someday, but they would not until they could make a game just as good as it was. Though, seeing as they remade FFX, which I would say is their second best game ever, I'm pretty sure they are full of s**t, and are just making an excuse to keep people off their backs. razz

I agree and I disagree. Sure, it would probably boost up marketing sales, etc but remaking that huge of a videogame would take a very long time. Plus I've heard that they've lost some of the original code, so then it would take even longer to rewrite it. I'm also sure that the staff have their own projects that they're working on. I'd say it's unlikely, but you never know...we could be surprised! emotion_yatta
