Baneth wasn't far behind Ellorth in reaching the shore. Verenna slipped off her dragon's back and grabbed up her boots and jacket, bundling them up so she wouldn't get them too wet in her state. "I'll meet you at the messhall, then, R'lan?" she asked. "I want to stop by my weyr first to change. And I get the feeling those two-" she gestured toward the dragons, "- will want to sun."

R'lan grinned and nodded. "Sounds good." R'lan climbed back up on Ellorth's back. "I can't wait."

Ellorth swiveled his head to look down at Verenna. Thank you. You are good for R'lan. Ellorth glanced at Baneth. See you in a bit. Ellorth leapt into the air and flew off towards his and R'lan's weyr.

Verenna was quick to mount Baneth, and the two flew away, leaving the peaceful beach behind.

Ellorth flew lazily down to the beach.

Thank you, Ellorth. R'lan slid down Ellorth's side to the warm sand.

Ellorth gently nudged R'lan with his nose. Enjoy yourself, Mine.

R'lan scratched Ellorth's eye ridge for a moment and chuckled when Ellorth nudged him after he had stopped.

Verenna and Baneth weren't far behind Ellorth and R'lan in landing at the beach.

"Seems like we were just here," Verenna murmered in an aside to Baneth.

Baneth's only reply was a mental chuckle. The sand is so warm. I think I will stay with Ellorth. You take care of yourself.

Greetings, Verenna, Ellorth commented. Ahh, Baneth. Such a lovely day. The bronze moved over next to Baneth.

R'lan smiled at the dragons fondly and turned to Verenna. "Shall we find a nice spot to watch the sunset or are you content here?" R'lan smiled contentedly at Verenna.

After returning the bronze's greeting, the green rider said, "What ever you'd like," and shrugged. Not that she really needed the "parents" around- the dragons- but it didn't bother her as much as it used to. Dragonriders were never alone alone. On second thought... "Was there a place you had in mind?"

Baneth nodded at Ellorth. Hello. It is indeed.

R'lan smiled. "Not in particular." He looked out over the sea towards the declining sun for a moment. "Oh!" R'lan went back to Ellorth and took a pack off the bronze's back. "I brought some blankets and klah along."

Verenna nodded, delighted. "Good thinking!" Anything along those lines had completely slipped her mind. All she had on at the moment was a short sleeved white riding shirt with a thin brown leather vest on top, and leather riding pants. And her favorite boots, of course. The weather would probably get cold at night, out on the island surrounded by water. And klah was always good.

"Would it be too long of a trek to walk out to the skipping stone pond and sit on the boulders near the water there?" Verenna asked. "It would probably be an excellent view from there." The one thing she hadn't yet done on the beach, that she wanted to, was watch the sun set.

"I think that can be arranged," R'lan smiled over at Verenna as he slung the pack over his shoulder. "Shall we begin?"

Verenna nearly melted as R'lan smiled her favorite smile. "We shall," she replied a bit softly. The pack looked a bit full, so she offered to take something for him. "Do you want me to carry the klah for you, or the blankets maybe?"

She sent a quick mental note to Baneth, and was satisfied at her dragon's responce that the green would be just fine in Ellorth's company without her.

R'lan grinned and fished out the blankets. He settled them about her shoulders. "There. Now they can be of use while we walk." R'lan took in the scenery around them as they walked, feeling truly at home on the beach with Verenna.

Verenna had to school herself not to giggle like a little weyrbrat when R'lan gave her the blankets to hold. They fit nicely around her neck. Warm. Comfortable. Verrry nice, she thought. The sky was getting darker, and it was a bit harder to see than it had been previously. She gravitated closer to R'lan as they walked, in case that she tripped, and also...well, it was mostly the tripping in the dark she was worried about. Sand in the daytime was always out to make her appear to be a klutz. Sand at night...well, she hoped it wouldn't be too much worse. "There'll be a moon tonight, won't there?" the green rider curiously inquired of R'lan, anxious to know if her favorite orb would be in the sky. She hadn't been paying much attention to the black velvet night the last few weeks to see.

R'lan nodded. "I believe so," he commented as the pond and boulders came into view. R'lan glanced over at Verenna with a smile. He could hardly believe how important this green rider had become to him.

We should get a new weyr. Ellorth commented, interrupting his thoughts.

R'lan wondered if Ellorth had finally managed a comment that actually made him turn red, for his face seemed unusually warm.

"Excellent," Verenna started to say with an excited grin, but saw that trademark far-away expression on R'lan's face and knew he was talking with his dragon. Or maybe fact that he was faintly blushing had caught her attention.

When it seemed like he was back in the present (and a bit recovered), she casually asked (hoping she didn't offend him), "What did Ellorth have to say?" She always found the bronze's comments worth paying attention to. Without a doubt, he was the most interesting dragon she knew...besides Baneth, of course.
