Kai made sure the column was ready to go then headed to the front and started towards the river again. He kept one ear on the conversation and both eyes on his sensors. Switching to a private channel and patching through an anima drone near Aidar, Kai spoke up.
"I don't know if its anything important, but there is a faint power signal coming from across the river. It will be awhile before we get there, but there is a Zurg energy signature. Cant tell if its one of the Resistance or one of Flarn's. We can alter course a little north and meet the river further up, but that will take us a bit closer to the city."

*Aidar steps beside Kai.*
"To the north, across the river? It may nae be necessary to go personally..."
*Aidar reaches his right hand down into his leg strap, which acts as a utility belt of sorts, and pulls out the crystal ball he used to instruct the Wargs in their reconnaissance mission earlier and holds it out in front so that both of them can see it.*
"Me ancestors were exiled ta this world from the Demon World, over 7,000 years ago..." *Aidar explains.* "They brought wit em many relics and mystical devises, an even invented new ones afterward... They may be gone nao, bu the relics still remain. This one be called a "Palantir. a magical communication devise. Accordin ta the archives, each one belongs to a specific set. One one can use it ta see whatever they wan in their world, an even send images to the res o it's set-mates ta show wha one is lookin at. As Ah mentioned, the wilderness o the Demon World be very hazardous and few ever wanted ta travel between cities. So, people used these ta keep in touch wit their kin. Ah also imagine tha they were very useful in Demon World warfare... Every city an lord ad at least one. This one blongs ta the set o the Kreutz family. and was brought to this world by me ancestor, Ulfris, the first Icewolf.

Wi this Ah can see anythin in this world, an even a few thins in the Demon World... Na much though, the other palantirs o the set seam ta all be set up in towers o some sorts, most o the images seem ta over look primitive lookin cities an the wilderness beyond... Mostly snowy tundra and a few frozen forests... From some views, Ah can manage to make out what may be the ocean an some images show a constant reddish glow tha looks like a sunset behind barren mountains. Fo the mos part, it appears ta be a dyin world, almost devoid o life. The sky be covered by a vast canopy o dark clouds wit lightning an it seems ta always be night, As Ah can costanly see a faint an roundish glow behind the clouds, which I believe ta be the moon... it never moves. Whoever be watchin us from the Demon World probably can na understand wha they see any more than Ah do, when Ah watch them. Bu, They'd definitely know a battle if they saw one an probably ge some light entertainment from it... Though Ah do na think it'd be easy for them to decide who to root for..."

*Aidar peers intensely into the ball, which looks like just a big black marble a pearl between the size of a grapefruit and a cantaloupe. Then, it begins to change. The surface begins to appear to move like waves in murky water and then colors begin to false into view and spread until the ball becomes a globe of Gaia that rotate until the lands they are inhabiting come into their view. then it zooms in on the area between the city of Aekea and it's housing area, and the river. Closer, and closer, and just as tree, bush, and building start to become distinguishable from one another, it fades out to be replaced by what looks more like the surveillance of some hidden security camera. Image after image it shows them as it seems to flip through channels, showing them a view of Aekea from the west, the housing from the north, the river from the west, the forest from the south, the forest from the east with G-Labs off in the distance, again the river, this time from the east... And then, they finally see what they are looking for. They can see it from every angle, from outside, from within, they can see everything that is going on at the location as if they were actually there!*

Aidar's magic seemed to defy Kai's technological analysis. He chalked it up to magic and focused on the images swirling in the crystal ball. The images start off strange and unfamiliar, but slowly Kai recognized Gaia and then Aekea and then finally the area in question. Along lazy line of smoke trailed up into the sky from a crater in an otherwise untouched field. The short trail of destruction led to the burning husk of a Zurg UFO, a single pilot fighter type, its power cells flickering in a struggling attempt to stay active. The ufo itself was too badly damaged to identify, but a nearby body wore one of Flarn's masks. Though there didn't seem to be any immediate danger, the implication was clear...there was air support in the area; they would need to keep one eye on the skies.

*After taking in the situation, Aidar calls to his remaining Warg who he hasn't assigned to a specific duty.* "Kayla!"
*The dark furred Warg then comes out from behind him on his left side, between him and Kai. Aidar then shows her the Palantir." "Ye'll find this creature that way, across the river." *He explains pointing north with his left hand.* "Ah wan ye ta go there and bring me back it's helmet. Do na harm it any more than ye ave ta."
*The Warg immediately takes off and disappears into the field.*
Aidar then turns to kai.*
"Le's keep movin."

*Aileen has now dried her tears, but continues to scowl, showing that she still suffers internally. She's little happy with how things are though. She had finally managed to get her "uncle' to allow her on one of his missions. Up until now, she had always went in secret and and seemed to appear from nowhere in the thick of battle, often to get a stern lecturing from Aidar. Not that it ever did him any good. For 5 years, she had defied and practically fought tooth and nail with him, but this time it was different. She had the feeling that she had pushed him too far. The mania she saw in his eyes was truly terrifying and She knew that she had better do what he said, if she wanted to get home in one piece.

Thinking back on how she treated him all this time, she really didn't blame him... If she were him, she would have kicked her out long ago... From the very day he took her in, about five years ago, she did nothing but cause him misery and anguish, and instead of throwing her out, like the burden she was, he held on to her, like some sort of accursed treasure that no mater how much misery it brings one, they just can't part with it. Aileen had the feeling that he would not have even let her go if she tried to leave. Yes, she had been both his curse and his precious, precious little girl Although she was already of age according to their custom when he took her in, it was their way to always live with family and he had become the father that replaced the one that fate had so cruelly taken away from her. A fate that she had no intention to let happen again... Ever! Not to anybody and especially not to HER! She always understood that Aidar doesn't want her fighting because he's afraid to lose her, but what HE doesn't understand this that she had become driven to fight not only for revenge, but deep down inside, she is afraid of losing HIM!

And, now by some twist of luck, she had finally gotten him to consent to her participation in the mission. there is no doubt that if it was just another hunt and not a full blown planetary invasion, she would be back at Darkhunter Headquarters right now, worrying about Aidar, or trying to distract herself with watching the bees fly across a field to pollinate the wild flowers and make their honey. Then her mind would think back to times when she was young and innocent and she would be frolicking among those bees. Times in which she would run from the field into the arms of her mother, who would be stand at the house, waiting like a sleek golden goddess of wolves, dressed in their usual green garb, or her maid uniform after returning home from work in Grandpa's in or, she would be running out of the house to greet papa having returned home from distributing his meat at the market. Times in which she would welcome all her older brothers and sisters home from work or play with their friends. Then her thoughts would turn to how she lost them and her mood would sharply swing from nostalgic to a blinding furious rage... She finally has a chance to show Aidar that she can be a part of the team, to work with them, and protect him as well; and she is NOT going to let it be wasted.

Wanting to do what she can to help, but show Aidar that she can follow orders, Aileen decides to search among the medic's patients for those who may need help. Though she could heal very quickly and had no need for personal first aid, living among the Darkhunters taught her that were were many races that did need aid when wounded. She brushes a strand of hair from her eyes back behind her right ear and using a keen sense of smell she developed while living among the Icewolves, she starts to search for the smell of blood...*

"How' is your leg?" *Luminova asks, as she looks to Sha.*

"It's fine. I've been hurt worse than that. I've seen worse injuries than that, but that's another story for another time."

"You don't need any help to walk, then?"
*She asks.*

He hissed in pain as he struggled to get to his feet all the while trying to keep his face as blank as possible. It was his blessing and his curse to have such a high threshold for pain however it was because of that, he often would burn himself out to the point of near death due to his stubbornness.

The pain was telling on him quite a bit and he limped along as best he could. "Trust me...I'll be fine. I've been worse believe me."

Kai led the column towards the river. Brooking no further interruptions, the march would be hurried, but they would make the river just after nightfall. The sun inched across the sky as the group marched across the grasslands, a wide expanse of rolling hills punctuated by a few copses of trees. Each step brought a new pang of anxiety to Kai, who watched his scanners and the skies like a hawk. A group of Zurg would be no problem to the likes of them, but even with the powerful Aidar, a surprise attack from even one aerial fighter would wreck havoc on the weak and wounded.
As the sky began to darken, Kai popped the top hatch of the battle suit and climbed on to the cupola. According to the network data, they were close. Kai pulled his XI-18 visor on and hit the magnify. Sure enough, the bank of the river was in sight.
"Hey Aidar," Kai called, "are we force marching through the night or are we making camp somewhere?"

*Aidar turns his head back toward the rest of the party.* "We ave wounded..." *He answers.* "An hungry..."
Then he looks to the sky.* Night is best ta travel buy, her darkness will obstruct us from view and we ma yet reach G= Labs unnoticed by the enemy..." *He continues.* "We need ta rest and feed. We'll break here, for nao, and continue once it's dark..."
*Aidar then turns back to the party.* "Alight everybody, we're stopin here fo nao. get what food an rest ye all can, because we break at dusk and do na stop til dawn. Luminova, yer cloaking spell."

*Luminova looks about the area, surveying were everybody is. She then spes right where everybody would be centered inside a 30 foot radius.*
"It is done!"
*She announces.*

"Excellent." *Aidar responds. He then beckons Greagus over, who's carrying a massive sack on his back, secured by a great harness of solid ice with a massive table on the back, as the sake is actually considerably larger than the Warg himself. Climbing atop it, Aidar unravels the cord that holds it shut, this time, not merely loosening it, but completely removing it and revealing the sack to in fact be a great tarp that now spreads out like a massive picnic blanket, covered with many 2-foot square metal crates and animals frozen inside hunks of ice.
Aidar and Greagus then go about the crates opening them one after another, revealing them all to hold an assortment of produce and pastry. Upon coming to a crate of apple, Greagus takes one from the crate ad eats it in a single crunch and licks the juice from his jaws, before completing his task. Sitting upon the tap, amidst the food, he gathers a large boar, eight rabbits, five pheasants and an elk stag. He then punches in the sequence to activate the pentagram/Celtic cross design on the back of his bladed gauntlet and reaching his left and up high, he causes the portal to from above his head.*
"He, Emmy!" *Aidar calls.* "Fish!*
*Shortly after, a spout of all sorts of good sized fish and even some crawdads and mussels rain down upon them. Aidar then closes the portal and gathering many of the aquatic animals to himself, he uses his flaming hands to thaw the frozen animals and cook all the meat he has gathered, before calling the others over to the feast.*
"Le's eat!" *Aidar says happily"
*Greagus seizes one of the boar's legs in his jaws and tearing it away, goes outside the tarp and lays down in the grass, where he pins it beneath his fore paws and begins to eat; while Bane, Fenris, and Loki enter the tarp and start to select their food.*

*Luminova goes about the crates, gathering various fruits and vegetables and even a few loaves, until she finally comes to the crate holding the squash, which the big yellowish tan Warg is bent over into like a feeding trough. Luminova recoils. She knows that the Wargs are extremely intelligent, but she also knows that beasts such as these tend to be violently protective of their food and won't let others near it. Luminova just stand there, her arms full of food, watching the Warg and wondering if she should chance an approach, or wait for the Warg to finish.*

*Luminova's presence does not go unnoticed. Loki, the green eyed dark gray Warg had ripped a massive steak from the elk's left side and had taken up a spot near Aidar, just outside the tarp behind Aidar and off to the right and was tearing at it; while Fenris, the Warg with the timber wolf fur pattern, had gathered a few salmon and the elk's left hind quarters off to Aidar's left beyond one of the corners of the tarp and was about to lay down and start to eat when Luminova had come into Bane, the yellowish tan Warg's area. The two Wargs can both hear where Bane is at, as he crunches a tasty squash, when they hear another come near him and stop. the two Wargs look up and see Luminove standing about 10 feet from Bane and his crate of squash. The two Wargs then watch them to see what happens. Bane has his back turned toward Luminova, but also senses her presence and looks back to see her standing behind him and slightly off to his left with her arms full of food.

Kai reached into the battlesuit and pulled out his LW-1009 rifle. Jumping down to the ground he circled to the rear of the suit and hit a hatch open. Inside were several green glowing vials. He removed one and pulled the stopper off with his teeth before downing the vial in one go. He leaned against the leg of the suit and watched the warg/Luminova situation unfold.

*Luminova finds her self staring into Bane's eyes, burning like two blue flames, as he looked into hers. She is also aware that the other Wargs are staring at her. Had she unknowingly done something to offend them? Greagus was the Warg she mostly interacted with and that was only on occasion. Very little has been known about Warg behavior by Fae, because when not kept by Orcs, they tended to alienate themselves form of ither creatures, except as predators. Even in the ancient Aurthurian times of Titania, called "Queen Mabb", after the death of her beloved Oberon, when her realm in ancient Britannia had become their last sanctuary, they still kept to their own kind, almost bordering on bigotry. No Wargs had entered into the undying realm when Queen Mabb died and her kingdom fell, and so opportunities for such knowledge had always remained lost to her kind.

Luminova begins to feel uneasy. She knew that in a wolf's mentally, if you are not part of the pack, then you are either food, or an enemy; either way, it would kill you. Luminova can easily read the thoughts of people; humans, orcs, elves, vampires- any being with a sentient mind, capable of calculation and moral. Their minds ar elike open books to her, and she can even read the minds of intelligent pets to an extent. But wild animals, even primates, hardly ever think and tend to go just by instinct. And, Aidar made it long clear that these Wargs are not pet, nor are they domesticated. These Wargs are wild. She does not doubt for a second that they would hunt and kill anything that isn't a part of their pack. She knew they considered Aidar to be their Alpha and that she should be considered to be a part of their pack, through her friendship with him, But that only gives her a wolf's social structure to go on, which essentially only a guess.

Luminova recalls that in that social structure, the alpha, a virtual king or queen, is only one end a spectrum. The other end it the omega. If these Wargs consider her an omega, then they would tear her apart without a second though, if she over steps her place. Another thing you never want to do to a wild beast is to look right into it's eyes, for they tend to interpret that as challenging them. Luminova turns her head to her left to avert her gaze and slowly starts to back away.*

*Bane then takes the remaining half of a squash he was eating and another full squash from the crate and sets it on the tarp. He then steps his hind quarters to the right and looks back at Luminova, his tail wagging and tongue panting in a non-threatening way with his ears perked up.*

*Bane then takes the remaining half of a squash he was eating and another full squash from the crate and sets it on the tarp. He then steps his hind quarters to the right and looks back at Luminova, his tail wagging and tongue panting in a nonthreatening way with his ears perked up.*

*Luminova slowly approaches the crate, watching Bane for any sign that he might attack.*

*Bane becomes impatient and with a soft growl, bumps his snout against Luminova's back, nudging her toward the crate of squash. He then sits and watches her from behind.*

*Luminova then reaches into the crate and take out a good sized squash. Nice and fat, and about a foot long. She hugs it to her chest with the rest of the food she's carrying and then turns around to look at Bane.*

*Bane just looks at Luminova and cocks his head, turning the left side upward, in a gesture that seems to say "What's wrong?"*

*Luminova turns and goes to the remaining crates, gathering some cucumbers, apples, oranges, and grapes. She then returns to her patients and start to distribute the food.*

*Seeing What Luminova was doing, Bane abandons his reserve of squash to gather up several of the rabbits by the ears, which tear away and cause the rabbits to fall to the ground. He then tries again, this time by the hind feet and more carefully. He then takes the rabbits over to Luminova's side.*

*Luminova nearly drops the food she had gathered as she sees the Warg come up by her left side. She turns to face him from his side and then notices the rabbits in his mouth.* "Could be that he means to share his rabbits?" *She wonders.*
"Strange..."
*Animals had been known to share before, but only when the food they have is plentiful. Luminova can see that these rabbits don't even amount to a mouthful for the great Warg. Another thing unheard of is an animal actually offering to share. Animals would bring food to a wounded one of their own, but never actually offer to share. Luminova can only stare. So much is not known about Wargs and their natural behavior...*

*Loki looks back down at his steak, then he looks back at Luminova and Bane, then back down at his steak again. deciding that it would still be there, when he got back, he gathers some pheasants by the tails, as Aidar had not plucked them and follows suit. Fenris does then abandons her food to rip the back half from the boar and does the same.
As Loki comes up behind her and Fenris comes up to Luminova's left side, along bane's right, Bane looks right into Luminova's eyes and she suddenly hears a soft voice in her head.*
"Then, here is your first lesson, my lady..."
*the voice whispers.*
"We are not common wolves. We do not have omegas, every member of the pack is precious to us, as long as they do their part for the pack."
*The three Wargs then proceed to join Luminova in the distribution of food to her the patients and Daughter Nili.*

*Luminova's eyes widen as she hears the voice in her head and comes to a realization... Wargs ARE sentient! this would explain why she could not communicate with them as the would with a regular animal. It kept coming across to them, like caveman talk would come across to a regular human. They can understand the individual thoughts she uses, but can't form sentences, because she deliberately leaves out thoughts that animals don't understand, such as "is", "are", "have", "was" etc. Animals only understand nouns and verbs and have no concept of the past or future. Sentient life is much more complex and not only uses such devises, it relies on them.

Luminova realizes that this actually makes communication a lot more easy. They may not be able to speak verbally, but they can still communicate to others by means of feeling, and on top of that, they can understand spoken language. One only needs to command-no... relay instructions to them and they'll carry them out, if they find them reasonable.

Luminova gathers her wits and then starts to distribute the food they have gathered with the Wargs. Though she refuses to touch the meat, she is still manages to direct the three Wargs in distributing the food among the patients.*

*No longer needing to keep it compacted in the trees, Aileen had unraveled her scarf, revealing it to really be a blood red cape clasped about her neck as she watched Luminova's seeming to dispute over food with Bane. She had also considered slipping on a coat she had brought with her, tucked away in a small pouch behind her back, but decided not to. She smiles in slight amusement as she watches Luminova return to her patients to feed them and then gathers a couple of rabbits and a pheasant. Carrying them in her cape like a sling, she then gathers several loaves of bread and various produce from the crates and then follows suit, to also feed the patients.*

*Luminova looks about the area, surveying were everybody is. She then spes right where everybody would be centered inside a 30 foot radius.*

"Excellent." *Aidar responds. He then beckons Greagus over, who's carrying a massive sack on his back, secured by a great harness of solid ice with a massive table on the back, as the sake is actually considerably larger than the Warg himself. Climbing atop it, Aidar unravels the cord that holds it shut, this time, not merely loosening it, but completely removing it and revealing the sack to in fact be a great tarp that now spreads out like a massive picnic blanket, covered with many 2-foot square metal crates and animals frozen inside hunks of ice.
Aidar and Greagus then go about the crates opening them one after another, revealing them all to hold an assortment of produce and pastry. Upon coming to a crate of apple, Greagus takes one from the crate ad eats it in a single crunch and licks the juice from his jaws, before completing his task. Sitting upon the tap, amidst the food, he gathers a large boar, eight rabbits, five pheasants and an elk stag. He then punches in the sequence to activate the pentagram/Celtic cross design on the back of his bladed gauntlet and reaching his left and up high, he causes the portal to from above his head.*
"He, Emmy!" *Aidar calls.* "Fish!*
*Shortly after, a spout of all sorts of good sized fish and even some crawdads and mussels rain down upon them. Aidar then closes the portal and gathering many of the aquatic animals to himself, he uses his flaming hands to thaw the frozen animals and cook all the meat he has gathered, before calling the others over to the feast.*
"Le's eat!" *Aidar says happily"
*Greagus seizes one of the boar's legs in his jaws and tearing it away, goes outside the tarp and lays down in the grass, where he pins it beneath his fore paws and begins to eat; while Bane, Fenris, and Loki enter the tarp and start to select their food.*

*Aidar' food disappears, escaping his senses completely, and he feels something cold and pointy poking him on his cheek, the feeling of cold hard glass surprises him slightly but at the same time annoys him

Kai led the column towards the river. Brooking no further interruptions, the march would be hurried, but they would make the river just after nightfall. The sun inched across the sky as the group marched across the grasslands, a wide expanse of rolling hills punctuated by a few copses of trees. Each step brought a new pang of anxiety to Kai, who watched his scanners and the skies like a hawk. A group of Zurg would be no problem to the likes of them, but even with the powerful Aidar, a surprise attack from even one aerial fighter would wreck havoc on the weak and wounded.
As the sky began to darken, Kai popped the top hatch of the battle suit and climbed on to the cupola. According to the network data, they were close. Kai pulled his XI-18 visor on and hit the magnify. Sure enough, the bank of the river was in sight.
"Hey Aidar," Kai called, "are we force marching through the night or are we making camp somewhere?"

*Aidar turns his head back toward the rest of the party.* "We ave wounded..." *He answers.* "An hungry..."
Then he looks to the sky.* Night is best ta travel buy, her darkness will obstruct us from view and we ma yet reach G= Labs unnoticed by the enemy..." *He continues.* "We need ta rest and feed. We'll break here, for nao, and continue once it's dark..."
*Aidar then turns back to the party.* "Alight everybody, we're stopin here fo nao. get what food an rest ye all can, because we break at dusk and do na stop til dawn. Luminova, yer cloaking spell."

"Knock it off, Vanessa. This na be the time nor place fo this. The sun be already settin an we leave at dark! Quit playin around, eat, an get some rest. We'll be travelin until dawn!"

*Luminova turns and goes to the remaining crates, gathering some cucumbers, apples, oranges, and grapes. She then returns to her patients and start to distribute the food.*

*Seeing What Luminova was doing, Bane abandons his reserve of squash to gather up several of the rabbits by the ears, which tear away and cause the rabbits to fall to the ground. He then tries again, this time by the hind feet and more carefully. He then takes the rabbits over to Luminova's side.*

*Luminova nearly drops the food she had gathered as she sees the Warg come up by her left side. She turns to face him from his side and then notices the rabbits in his mouth.* "Could be that he means to share his rabbits?" *She wonders.*
"Strange..."
*Animals had been known to share before, but only when the food they have is plentiful. Luminova can see that these rabbits don't even amount to a mouthful for the great Warg. Another thing unheard of is an animal actually offering to share. Animals would bring food to a wounded one of their own, but never actually offer to share. Luminova can only stare. So much is not known about Wargs and their natural behavior...*

*Loki looks back down at his steak, then he looks back at Luminova and Bane, then back down at his steak again. deciding that it would still be there, when he got back, he gathers some pheasants by the tails, as Aidar had not plucked them and follows suit. Fenris does then abandons her food to rip the back half from the boar and does the same.
As Loki comes up behind her and Fenris comes up to Luminova's left side, along bane's right, Bane looks right into Luminova's eyes and she suddenly hears a soft voice in her head.*
"Then, here is your first lesson, my lady..."
*the voice whispers.*
"We are not common wolves. We do not have omegas, every member of the pack is precious to us, as long as they do their part for the pack."
*The three Wargs then proceed to join Luminova in the distribution of food to her the patients and Daughter Nili.*

*Luminova's eyes widen as she hears the voice in her head and comes to a realization... Wargs ARE sentient! this would explain why she could not communicate with them as the would with a regular animal. It kept coming across to them, like caveman talk would come across to a regular human. They can understand the individual thoughts she uses, but can't form sentences, because she deliberately leaves out thoughts that animals don't understand, such as "is", "are", "have", "was" etc. Animals only understand nouns and verbs and have no concept of the past or future. Sentient life is much more complex and not only uses such devises, it relies on them.

Luminova realizes that this actually makes communication a lot more easy. They may not be able to speak verbally, but they can still communicate to others by means of feeling, and on top of that, they can understand spoken language. One only needs to command-no... relay instructions to them and they'll carry them out, if they find them reasonable.

Luminova gathers her wits and then starts to distribute the food they have gathered with the Wargs. Though she refuses to touch the meat, she is still manages to direct the three Wargs in distributing the food among the patients.*

*while she is going about her distribution'a Luminova notices a brown like tabby cat following her, looking and acting cute, the cat follows her giving off nice and soft meows*
