These are not the same. People here, and on video games I play use the word "hack" incorrectly. When you are tricked into giving away your password or an item, you are scammed. When you go to a website that isn't Gaia and type in your login, you are phished. Hacking takes alot more skill and knowledge than scamming, and possibly phishing. I doubt that someone with the talent to hack into computers and servers and whatnot would hack into Gaia, and take accounts.

Seems to happen on RuneScape, but I get the point. Thanks for posting this.

Very true, the term "hack" is so loosely used, we just forget its true meaning. But of course we still all know what people are talking about when they get "hacked"
And hacking is much more challenging thtan phising. All you need is idiots and a plausible alibi for what you are asking for. Same goes for scamming.

I don't think I've ever been truly "hacked." Once I was phished, but I changed my password as soon as I realized what I'd done. I've had people asking for my password, but never gave it to them.
I don't see the point of scamming, really. The only people that really fall for it are newbs, and they usually don't have anything of value, anyway. Plus it'll get you banned... waste of time.
