I'm learning to make cables, but I'm having a hard time making them look nice.
I see pics and videos and they look like rope (all nice and rounded), mine are flat and bumpy. I also saw a video on knittinghelp.com and she can effortlessly cross the strands and can knit off the cable needles with ease. When I do that, it's all tight and very hard to knit off the cable needle (when I knit the "first" stitches). When I do cross the strands, am I supposed to pull the yarn tight right befrore I knit the last (soon to be the first) stitches?
For the bumpyness, I think I have trouble with the transition to purl after I knit the cable. The right side of the cable looks alright, but the left side looks flat because the stitch is loose I think.
