Tetsuya Nomura (Kingdom Hearts) kinda creeps me out...

I love Final Fantasy games and somewhat appreciate Kingdom Hearts, but as for character designer/producer Tetsuya Nomura (he did Final Fantasy VII and X designs as well as KH and many others) I'm very mixed. Anything he's involved in has a theme about tormented children, as in, being corrupted by some bad influence turning them into controlled minions (a slight exception is FF X-2: that has a more feminist/rebellion/semi-sexist theme). I just think that judging by the rest of his work, his personality reflects Michael Jackson's sick love of children and his delusions of wanting to be Peter Pan.

If a lot of you are big fans of his, certainly KH1 and 2, I'm just offering my insight and not trying to ridicule you. I think it could even be part of why preteens outside here purposefully misspell to get attention.

I think what you're describing here is common in fantasy, fiction, and (abet in different ways) reality.

I realise your buff here is just with Tetsuya Nomura, but this problem/theme is not unique to him.

"Corrupting" children is often how people refer to the coming of age of characters and people. Children are perceived as "young" and "naive" so they "don't know what's best for them." Who is perverting the child behind the scenes? If it's a parent or Ansem, the problem is still the same.

Your parents hand you their ideas. When you're ten, twelve, even fourteen, how many doubts did you have about your parent's ideas? When an adult said something, did you really stop and think it over, or did you put it in a pile of other ideas given to you by the "wiser"? And these ideas were fed by ignorance or being knowledgable about the subject?

I cannot tell you how many "sheep" I've met, who's ideas have been corrupted by adults and ignorance. Nomura just echoes this. The difference is, his characters overcome it.

Also, if you're thinking of Riku being corrupted by Ansem, part of Riku's character is to be a foil/rival to Sora. Riku's "dark" to Sora's "light." Riku's "older" to Sora's "younger." Riku is the oldest of the trio, both mentally and physically. So it acts as a caution that the "older and wiser" can fall, too.

When children are corrupted, it lies in the audience to realise why.

This doesn't mean that I support corrupting children, but your problem does not only lie with Nomura.

(I also apologize for the slight scatter-brained-ness of this post.)
