I have to laugh when people use the tired reasoning of "I can beat a level nine opponent" to explain why they're good at Smash Bros. Melee. It's silly, really. Here's an example.
I just played with Ice Climbers against Zelda/Sheik. Mind you, it's a level nine Zelda/Sheik so it should be amazing! I'm using this to practice my Wobble. I manage to swing at her, trying to get her to the 30% base to start the Wobble. We're playing on Classic Yoshi's Island, she starts up top and I start down low. She drops down on me, I use my Up Smash and knock her back up. She lands at the top platform and then falls back to me. I Up Smash her back. She does this four more times. From there, I grab her and knock her away.
Next life, she manages to beat me senseless for a while as Sheik. I hit her a few times and manage to Wobble her to 150%. She then manages to push me off the edge and I die... but then she jumps off the edge with me. Literally jumps off after me...
I come back, she continues her Sheik beating and mid way through I swing at her, hit her, and nudge her off the edge and she dies.
She comes back, turns into Zelda, and I manage to Wobble her to 130% and smash her off the level. I'm pretty beat up, but I kill her. She comes back, kills Nana, and then kills me.
I come back and then smash her off the stage. Problem is, though, that she didn't travel back to the stage like she could have. Instead she travels clear over to the far right side of the stage and lands on a cloud just before it dissipates. Yeah, she dies.
Three suicides in one fight and another death that might as well have been.
How can people use a computer opponent like this to compare themselves to other top-level players? I just don't get it. <_<

Yeah, it's true, it doesn't really mean you're super good, although it does take some real basic skill to kill a level 9 computer. My friend says he can beat three level 9's no matter who they are, when he's Young Link or something. Big whoop! It's not that hard, and I can kick his stinkin' butt. It bothers me when people say they're so good and then they're not. I hope I'm not sounding too mean, but there's a huge difference between computers and human players.

Even at level 9 I've seen CPUs walk right into Falcon Punches and big smash attacks.

They also love to use the same move a lot, so if it's quick and you have a slow character, you keep getting attacked sometimes until you get killed. xp

I can take two level nines. However they are overrated by some people and sometimes underrated too. When they drop from platforms they never attack me. Also if you do have items on then they don't know how to use it.. although i don't play with items on unless my friends are making me. lol peer pressure lol haha But also look at the timing on their grabs.. it's like impossibble i dont know anyone who can time a whip with link as well as a nine its pretty unfair.. sorry i hate grammar lol.

If there were like computers leveled like 15 and stuff that would be so awesome. Like computers programmed to know combos. To know how to actually use items and to have good timing. Wavedash. A lot of that stuff that would be a crazy match and make it way better to practice.

Using glitches in the game suck imo. I play the way the game was supposed to be played.

Level 9's make you develop bad habits, it's a little hard to explain (or I just don't feel like explaining it). Just train with level 1's and work on your combos/advanced techniques.
