Yes, post the next instructions already!
No, I'll wait just a little bit...
Can you at least wait until I can get some yarn?! :(

Are you ready for another knit along? It's been a while since the last one, and I had a lot of fun so I'd be happy to join another. But... Since I found a nice pattern I'll just host a small one right now if anyone's interested. It will be a quick knit and I don't expect it to run more than a week or so. The pattern itself can be knitted in a few hours if there's a decent movie on, but I'll feed it to you in small portions.

Skill level:
You need to be able to cast on, knit, purl and knit or purl two stitches together.

You won't need much yarn for this one, it's a perfect stashbuster. I used a small skein of yarn when I tried the pattern out and I've still got a lot left on it.

Materials needed:
Some leftover yarn. DK or sport weight should do it I think, but just go for something that suits the needle size.
Us #3 needles (3 mm to 3.25 mm in metric)
A darning needle

Anyone up for this challenge? I've started posting instructions!

Abbrevations:
k = knit
p = purl
sl1 = slip a stitch to the right needle without knitting it.
stockinette = one knit row, on purled row, one knit row and so on...
k2tog = knit two stitches together as if they were one.

Current instructions:

Can you guess what it is?

Day eight
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail (about 30 cm should be more than enough) and use the darning needle to pull the yarn through the remaining 7 stitches.
Slip the stitches off the needle and pull tight. Fold with the purled side out and use the remaining yarn to sew the slip stitched side. Weave in ends, turn right side out and fasten a pompom on top if you’re so inclined.

Everything so far:

Day one
Cast on 27 stitches
k1, p1 to the end of the row, ending on a knit stitch

Day two

Rows two and three are the same:
Slip the first stitch and p1, k1 to the end of the row.

Day three
Rows 4-7:
Sl1, then knit the rest of the row
Sl1 then purl ...
Sl1 then knit ...
Sl1 then purl ...

Bored yet?

Day four
The next four rows are also stockinette with the first stitch slipped.

Day five
You need to knit four more rows in stockinette, still with the first stitch slipped.

Day six
You should now have 3 rows seed stitch and 12 rows of stockinette, right?

Sl1 *k2tog
Repeat from * for the rest of the row.

Day seven
You now have 14 stitches left on the needle
*k2tog
Repeat from * for the rest of the row.
7 stitches left, one day of instructions left.

Yay! Interest smile I'll give you some time to dig up yarn and needles before starting to post the instructions. I'll probably be busy tomorrow night but I plan to start posting instructions on friday at the latest.

We've knitted more than half the mystery thing now smile I'll post a smaller update and then perhaps skip a day to allow people to catch up. I'll probably post the last instructions this weekend.
