It seems that now, I've gotten some people interested in Clanand, and I've found that some people have been interested.
I think it'd be better if we moved the discussion off of the "Off-Topic" and onto a separate thread.

Oh, and just so you guys know, I will enforce this. ^__^. But feel free to make your own Clannad threads; I just don't want to see it in the "Off-Topic" thread.

Clannad airs October 4th this year.

Oh, I also heard that it was more funny than Kanon, but I'm assuming you realized that once you watched the first episode.

Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention. TBS [the station that aired the first episode today] pan-and-scans the anime to convert it into a 4:3 format. Sprocket & TWH will release a widescreen/HD version once it airs on BS-i, although it'll air 3 weeks later than TBS.
Ryou = Kanon + Tsukasa.

We have learned that one of the main broadcasters of Clannad, TBS (the Japanese terrestrial station), will be showing it in 4:3 pan-and-scan (or better known as “modified to fit your TV”). The real kicker is that BS-i, the station which broadcast AIR and Kanon, will show the widescreen version of the series after a three-week delay.

After some talk, we have decided that we will do a triple release of each episode:

1. An Xvid-only release of the 4:3 pan-and-scan version for those who Absolutely Positively Need Their Fix Right Now(R) . Then, three weeks later:
2. An Xvid version of the widescreen version of the show for those who still have older systems.
3. An H.264 version of the widescreen version of the show for those who want quality and have the computing horsepower and/or the software needed.

We hope this will satisfy a broad cross-section of the audience who wishes to see Clannad once it starts airing. Though it is a bummer that we’ll only have the 4:3 at first for the first two weeks.
