"Father, I have someone that wants to see you.”
Ausi’s voice called out as she slowly stepped into her father’s den, where he and his new born cubs rested. His lovely new mate was sleeping soundly beside him so Ausi did what she could to speak softly, as if not to awaken anyone but her father.
“He cam from the land of the Firekin, seeking your company for an hour or so.. it’s very important that you talk to him. I’ll sat here and make sure my siblings are safe while mother sleeps. I just really think you should talk to him.”
As his daughter spoke Akamu’s eyes narrowed. What was this? From the Firekin lands? An uneasy feeling moved through out his whole body as he slowly stood up, moving himself from his mate’s side. He slowly moved himself to Ausi’s side and spoke out in a low tone.
“What is this?”
he didn’t understand.
“He is standing outside your den, waiting for you.”
Ausi couldn’t say anything else- whatever happened had to be settled between the two. She wouldn’t get in-between a father and his first son, if Vulcan really was his. She would have to just wait for everything to settle before asking questions of her own. She needed to clarify some tings with her father now, it seemed.
“..Alright.’
Akamu said with a slight nod as he slowly moved past Ausi and headed outside of the den. As his eyes left the darkness of the cave that he and his family lived in he stopped quickly and stood still, slightly taken back by what he saw.
Before him stood a adult male, red in colors with hints of black, white and gray. He bore eyes the color of Ausi’s and his mother’s and it was quite shocking to him, seeing such a sight. Who was he and what did he want?
“..Yes?”
Akamu spoke out slowly, stopping just a few feet away from the other, eyeing him down.
“Are you Akamu, son born to the Firekin pride?”
“Yes.”
He answered slowly.
“Did you leave the pride at a young age?”
“I did.”
Akamu spoke out again, cocking a brow at the other male. What was he getting at?
“Did you ever know a female by the name of Ky?”
Vulcan’s eyes narrowed upon Akamu as he asked his last question, seeing the frustration upon Akamu’s face swell.
“Ky…”
He was lost in thought and memory for a moment, recalling his younger years and his first love, Ky. She was a strong female and had taken his heart by storm many years ago. Akamu would never be able to forget her.
“Yes, I knew Ky."
He finally said, nodding slowly.
“Akamu, I’m Ky’s son. I’m your son. You were the only make my mother was ever with.”
Okay, so that was stunning news to him. He had a son? All off this time… and he never knew? How could this happen? His eyes closed for a moment as he sat down and sighed deeply, unable to find the words to use.
“..Are you sure?”
Akamu finally spat out, still shocked.
“Yes. Akamu, Ky, my mother would never lie to me. I was her only son, her only child and you are my father.”
“What is your name?”
Akamu questioned as he gazed upon his… sons form.
“Vulcan."
“So you are the only one? Or were there others at one point? I know the sickness killed many back then, it’s why I left…”
“I was the only one she birthed, she was very young when she became pregnant… after all.”
‘Hah, yes. She was my first love as I was to her..”
“You were her only one, Akamu. She never found another.”
Wow. Akamu felt really bad now… here he was with mate number three.
“I see… so, tell me Vulcan. Why did you come looking for me?”
Vulcan’s eyes narrowed as he too sat himself down and spoke out.
“I wanted you to know that I was alive, and that Ky passed away.. .but the last thing she asked of me was for me to find you again someday, for me to tell you that I am a gift from her and that I am alive.”
He sighed.
“I am your eldest child Akamu, I am your son.”
He stopped and awaited Akamu’s response.
“Vulcan. I am very sorry for your loss.”
He started out with a slight nod.
“I can not offer you anything but a family. I have no pride, I have no slaves and I am no longer a Firekin, I am simple now, with three older daughters an five new little ones to take care of, a mate and grand cubs, my life is hectic and I am not the male I use to be.”
For a moment Vulcan just sat there, taking in all that Akamu said, but then a slight smirk passed his muzzle as he stood up and said.
“Akamu, all I want from you is for you to know that I am here, I am your son. I will come around more often now that I know where to find you. I am very glad that I was able to find you.”
“Vulcan; son, thank you for finding me. I am truly proud."

After Vulcan had left Ausi stood by her father’s side and gazed at him with worried eyes.
“Father… are you sure he is of blood? I mean, he could just be crazy..”
She began but stopped herself short.
“No, my sweet, he speaks no lies. He is my son. I’m sure of it.
He paused and gazed at her with a worried look.
“Are you displeased? I never meant for my past to harm you or your sister…”
“No, no, dad, it’s okay. I just ant you happy.”
Ausi spoke as she nuzzled herself against him and sighed, speaking the words.
“I hope he comes back again someday.”
