Akai had decided to wander a bit from her family for the day, curious to see what else was around. While she knew that her Daddy and Mommy loved her so, sometimes it just felt better to get some sand between your toes when you wanted to, and not when your parents guided you around safely to where they wanted to go.

Akai rubbed at the black tear-marks that glided down her face, trying to rub out something that happened to get into one of them. "Ugh, this stinks," she whined, actually making it worse by rubbing a bit of sand into her eye as well as trying to get the annoying thing out. Hopefully it wasn't one of those annoying little fruit flies, they always got everywhere.

With a small growl, she flopped onto her belly, feeling like she almost got it all cleaned out. Almost...almost... "There!" she yelled in victory, pleased with herself that she got that out of the way. ...now what?

Wacheza was on his own, as per usual. A trail of butterflies followed him as he walked, lost in his own thoughts as he drifted across his beach homeland. He was lost among his philosophies. Today it was the sunset... tomorrow maybe it would be grass, he wasn't sure which.

He was so lost in thought that he made his was to the boarders of the pride, though it wasn't especialy uncommon for him. He liked it there, it was usually quieter and he would meet fewer lions, or whatever. And those he did meet were wanders with interesting stories to tell.

He blinked when he heard a voice which scattered the twelve or so butterflies who had been resting on his back, "Hum...?" He blinked, eyes traveling towards a small sand dune. The voice had come from the other side, "Someone there?"

Akai's clean white ears popped up, hearing the voice of another. "Oh? Heloo hello!" she called out, unsure as to where the voice had come from. What was it? Was it a stranger? Anticipation made her body shiver as she scampered up the sand dune that she had been nearby, thinking that if she got up juuust a bit higher, she would be able to see the owner of the voice.

Well, it was a good thing that she still wasn't too good with walking up sand dunes, for if she had ran up it as fast as she attempted, she was sure to of toppled over the side. Instead, she was jumping, slowly, from underneath the sand, her paws sinking in as she scrambled to the top. Far from being the graceful lady that her mother probably would of prefered.

She came face to face (at least, not literally, but she did see him) a young brown lion, who looked a bit shaggy. Who was he? She tried to speak again, but no words would come out. Instead, she stared at him, very curious as to who he was and- and what was with all those butterflies? They were really pretty. Her red eyes drifted from him to the butterflies, then back again to him, as if wondering if he knew that he had an entourage following him like that! Or well...did, since they were flapping around everywhere.

The butterflies seemed a little bit startled at first, but they were used to strangers who came near Wacheza, so they soon settled back down, landing on his plain back, making the rugged-looking lion much more colorful, "Hello." He said, offering her a smile, tilting his head to the side a little bit. This new lioness was certainly colorful, and she looked like she was probably a rouge. They did tend to wander in-and-out of the territory quite a bit, and Wacheza had met his fair share, so strangers didn't bother him.

She was more colorful than his usual finds, but not as unusually-colored as some of the others he had met. He had seen a cheeta which was bright-green before, and even a Goddess, so this lioness was nothing new. But he would be, of course, polite. It would be unfair, not to mention mean, to be cruel to a total stranger. "You're not from around here, are you?" Well, the way she handled the sand sort-of proved that, but that was fine with Wacheza.

Akai's red eyes still stared at him for a moment, before she physically shook her head to break the spell. She had never seen so many butterflies before, and for so many to be in one spot...and like, living on this brown lion! That was just too neat for Akai.

She stuffed those thoughts into the back of her mind, though, as she let her voice slowly regain itself. She offered a small little bow, since obviously this boy knew where they were, and while she wasn't too far away from home she was still in strange lands. "Umm, sorta," she admitted. "I live in that direction," she said, nodding her head back from where she had come, "with my family. I think Daddy said that my older sisters live around here. I was just kinda exploring..." She swayed a bit, hoping that she wasn't going to get in trouble. "I'm sorry if I'm intruding." There, she was being polite, so there was no way she could get in trouble.

Wacheza smiled sweetly, trying not to laugh. No one had ever asked him that before... it was funny, "No, no it's okay. We're right on the edge of the Sea Pride, it's where I live. You're allowed to go wherever you want, I don't think anyone will get mad as long as you don't start a fight or anything."

He somehow doubted she would. She seemed to like his butterflies, and in his experience, if lions, or whatever, liked them, they weren't such bad lions. His brother hadn't been one of those... but he was gone now, so it hardly mattered to him. "You can explore all you want. That's pretty much what I'm doing... well, more thinking, but I'm wandering. So I'm sure it's okay for you to... to."

Akai's head cocked to the side as she listened to the brown lion boy, finding out now that this 'Sea Pride' was what they had been living next to for so long. She mouthed an 'oh', understanding a bit of what he was saying, but not all of it. Fight? Definately not something that she was into!

"Awww, thank you! I like exploring, knowing what's around me. It's fun!" she chirped, bouncing a bit in place as she glanced around. Yep, she'd remember where she was now, and would deem it her new 'meeting' spot, since that's what happened the first time she was here!

"So are all those butterflies on you your friends?" she asked, veeery curiously. If they were, well, he had a lot of friends!

Wacheza blinked then looked back at them, then he smiled and nodded, "Sort of... when I was really little, I would wander until I found a nice spot, and then I would just sit there for as long as I wanted until my mom or my brothers and siblings came and got me... eventually, I would stay still so long that they started to land on me." He shrugged, carefully though, so that he didn't disturb them, "They're my quiet friends I guess... when I'm alone they keep me company."

He had never really thought of the insects as friends before, but he supposed that's what they were. And they certainly did keep him company, them and all their different colors. He had always been fond of them, and hated to see them get hurt. That made them friends, didn't it?

He looked over at the girl, "I'm Wacheza, by the way. What's your name?"

"Woooow", she breathed, giving the butterflies another warm, envious look, for their beautiful colours and good dispositions that they seemed to have. Amazing! Hopefully Akai would be able to have some really neat friends like that someday.

Her tail flicked behind her excitedly as she smiled warmly at this Wacheza. "I'm Akai Rousoku, but Akai is short and sweet," she said, nodding to her short version of her name. It was so much easier than the mouthful that she had been given. Plus she thought it was short and spunky, and fit her well.

Oooh, wait! Manners, manners! She took a moment to offer another bow, but it was so quick it was hard to tell what the movement really was. "It's nice to meet you, Wacheza. Thanks for being so nice to me," she said, smiling. Well, not all strangers were scary, with proof of him right before her!

Her ears caught something that she didn't quite understand, though. Sit alone for a long time? Wasn't that...lonely? Maybe that was why he had so many butterfly friends. "Well, at least you're never lonely with your pretty butterfly friends, then."

Wacheza smiled a little, "Alone? No... not really. I have five brothers and sisters... so I'm never really alone. I come out here where it's peaceful and quiet so I can think sometimes... the butterflies and I get along because neither one of us like noise." He shrugged again, helpless, but he seemed fairly amused, "Sometimes it's nice to get away... I mean, that's what you're doing right now, isn't it?"

Well... perhaps she wasn't there for the quiet. Some lions just liked to explore. Akai could easily be one of those, which was fine with Wacheza. Not alot of things bothered him at all really... except mean lions... or whatever. Generally, Wacheza liked everybody.

"Wooow," she said. "I thought my family was big! I have three brothers and another sister," she started, before puffing up her chest. "I think I'm special though, 'cause I'm all white and they're mostly all red." Well, one of her brother's had a lot of black on him too, but...she was still special!

She tapped her black toed-paw on her chin, thinking about it. What was she jsut doing? "I guess I'm just exploring," she admitted. "It's nice to go out and do what you want to do, right?"

Oh, wait. Did he say he wanted quiet? "But, I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you! I just didn't expect to see anyone out here, that's all."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 25, 2007 10:32 am

Wacheza smiled a little as he listened to her talk about her family, nodding as she mentioned how she was special because of her color, "Cool... I'm not all that special really, I'm plain, like my dad. My mom has a lot of colors though..." Which wasn't exactly true, because one of his brothers... whom he was not entirely sorry to see leave the pride, had the most colors of their family. Which weren't all that many to begin with.

"Don't worry though!" Wacheza quickly held up his paws, shaking his head, "I like meeting lions from other places, they always tell the best stories about the world. I've lived by the sea my whole life... and I like it, but I love hearing about other places." He sighed, though he still smiled, "I'll probably never leave this place... so it's good to hear about what the rest of the world is like. I just... like to get away from everything and see new things every once in a while. And you're certainly a new thing... lion... um... girl... woman? Lady..." Wacheza stumbled over his words now, trying to avoid being rude. Was he being rude? He hoped not. What would his mother say if he did that? ...well, she would probably just smile and correct him and tell him to try and be nicer...

Akai giggled at Wacheza. "Plain is always an understatement!" she said, still all full of giggles. "My mom says that everyone is special in their own way. You may think you're plain, but if no one else looks just like you, then you're special!" Of course, that totally contradicted her comment about being super special herself, but she didn't even think of it that way. Her sibilings didn't count, it was just that part of sibiling rivalry.

"Wow, you'd never leave?" she asked, curious. She took a moment to look around, getting a lungful of the fresh sea breeze, able to hear the crash of the waves from where they were located. "Yeah, I think I can see why," she said. "It's really pretty here."

She didn't know if she'd always stay, but that didn't mean that she didn't love it here either!

Wacheza nodded, looking out at the sea, "Yeah... everyone is special. Some lions are just more special than others." He meant that as a joke, but in the back of his mind... he figured his new friend might take that very seriously. Oh well. At least she would probably get a kick out of it.

"Yeah... my brothers and sisters all really love to adventure... but I love this place, with everyone, and my parents. One of my brothers left already... and I think my sister Miri will as well. I'll miss them... but I get attached to places. I think I'd rather be here than anywhere else." He grinned a little. He knew he wasn't meant to be a traveler, he was alright with that.

There was nothing wrong with the sea pride... it was perfect. Out there, it could either be better, or worse. He wasn't the risk taker to the possibility that it could be worse.

Akai listened to Wacheza quietly, her mind obviously really thinking about everything that he was saying. Well....wow. The way he put things seemed to make it easier to understand, especially for the energetic little girl.

It seemed....strange, though, of the idea of sibilings leaving. Would that happen with her brothers and sister? Maybe, but she hoped not. She really liked them all as a big family, but again, there were things you couldn't change, or keep as the same forever.

She pulled herself away from the lull of peace, though, into one again of play. "Well. Maybe you're family is seperating and going their own ways, but," she wiggled her lower half closer to the ground, letting her rump sway in the air, in a mock-pounce stance. "You've always got other friends here, especially those pretty butterflies on your back!" She hoped she'd be able to befriend one someday, but she didn't know any of the tricks that would help her in 'befriending' one.
