I never really wanted a shotgun that much. I'm a pistol fan with rifles following just behind, but now I want a shotgun. I won't be able to buy one for seven months now (when I'm 18 ) but at that time, or some time after it, I'll be getting one.

Which one?

I want something...

A. Black
B. Medium-barreled (for use in home defense, but also applicable for huting if I really needed it. Basically an all-around barrel)
C. Tactical rail or bayonet mount or both (I'd probably never even get a bayonet for it, but what the heck, right?)
D. 12 or 20 gauge, probably 12
E. Extreme

So far I know the Mossberg 590 or Remington 870 may serve my purposes, so if you've got other sugestions--suggest. If you want to talk about why the 590 or 870 is awesome, feel free to do so.

Tactical? Eek I don't know about tactical shotguns.

Only thing that I know of a tactical shotgun is the Saiga-12.
An automatic 12 gauge shotgun that's built off of the AK model and comes in various lengths as well as calibers, I the other is .410 as far as anything else I'm uncertain, but I am certain that they're modifiable.

Or you could go American and get an 1897 Trench gun, that beauty has a bayonet lug, and I've heard they're making 'reproductions' Norinco am I right Brocktree?

I don't need a magzine-fed shotgun, just a black, 12-gauge medium-barreled pump shotgun with a tactical rail...

Remington 870, they have add ons that make it into a tactical beast.

Hm, interesting, but I'm pretty sure you could do that with an 870. dunno about the bayonet though....

My brother had an 870, sawed off, with a folding stock on it. I loved it. It was a great gun, and we had lots of fun with... exotic ammo.
What I would REALLY love to get, though, is the Remington 870 MCS. Too bad it's military-only. I mean... 'cmon...

Mossberg 590.

Or you could do what Sierra did and put a bayonet on a Mossberg 500.

Well, I can say the Ithacagun 37 featherweight 12 ga. is a very good gun. it's not flashy, but it gets the job done. I very rarely have failures/jams (mostly due to shell, not gun) and so far *knock on wood* no broken parts.

Well, if you're willing to live on sammiches and water for the next month or two, the MCS is available online here for $2000. Legally, I hear it's an AOW, so that's another $5, and the M4 rail is another $20 or so... but someday... *dreamy sigh*

Well... I'm a fan of the Mossberg 500, and the 590's about the same. I want one, if my sig doesn't give that away. But it's sort of expensive.

If you're willing to drop the cash, though, a 20 inch barrel with an eight round tube is pretty damn solid.
