when i am not moving, the color of the background all goes one solid color or sometimes the floor just dissapears on buy mode,i know its not normal and that my comp can play this game cause i have played it before on here (not deluxe i just borrowed my friends regular sims 2) anyway it was fine when i first installed it and then i got off to look at something and when i got back on it was like that, all i have is the deluxe one (which is sims 2 and night life)

Maybe your graphics card isn't up to running the equivelant of two expansions at once.

You can check your graphics card details and basic computer system info by opening your Start menu, click on "run..." and then type in dxdiag and hit "ok".
You can then check this information against the recommended system requirements on the back of the game case.

Using Windows XP shouldn't cause problems. I actually think XP would be the best operating system to use.
You could always try a reinstall.
