Every now and then I host a contest in my Battle System Guild to get members active. Usually it works and the Guild breaths life for a month or two.
And right now I'm saving up to host another avi contest. Unfortunately I jumped the gun and posted that the contest would be taking place very soon, but I only have half the gold I need to get the proper prizes. Arg. >u<
Sooooo. What things do you normally do in order to raise funds for things in your Guild? -To host a Contest in your Guild with prizes? -To add on another Subforum to your Guild? -To Host a Lotto in one of Gaia's forums to get more attention and members to your Guild? -Something else? -And how well dose your fund raising work out?

Tell your members to donate TO THE GUILD MULE and not the guild account.
Tell them that if they like the idea of another contest so much they better start donating or else there won't be any.
Since you are suppling 1/2 the prize it won't feel as much that they are just paying for thier own prize.

I've never bothered with contests. Every time I have a thought for one, and announce it or anything, my guild ignores me. Little a**-hats.

Are they there to even know if you started one? Or do you need to PM them for them to know?

~Metalic_Noodles We don't have a Guild mule. And with the Guild Capt not being on very often it would make it a bit hard to set one up.
I can always just go cheepy with the prizes. xp

Send the Guild Captain a PM now so that when they do get on they'll see! The Guild Captain should put forth at least a little for the prizes. [in my opinion =/] Or at least send them a PM now asking if you can make the guild a mule, so that way whenever they do log on, the sooner they see the message the sooner they'll consider it?
But I'm sure if you explain your situation [the fact that you're supporting pretty much all of hte prizes] they would understand if you go with cheapy prizes. It's the thought that counts, right? xD
[Or, like if you or someone you know/someone in te guild is good at drawing art, you can offer free art for prizes, meaning you wouldn't have to really get any gold]
