Pre-Fall Storyline:

What does it mean to stand the test of time anyways? Does it mean you survived? Did you leave an imprint on the book of history? Are you remembered in the hearts of others?

Regardless of the answer, the fact still remains that Serathlia, once a powerful city-state, failed in its test.

It was a grand place. High walls protected the city, with its design not unlike others of its kind. However, as with all power, there was corruption. Others without it decided that they were going to take that power, and distribute it amongst themselves to garner the full power of Serathlia's magics.

Only problem was: They failed, though only in the course that the fighting reduced the city they were fighting for to ashes and rubble. In a magical cataclysm, the city was destroyed, and its inhabitants were either dead, dying, or missing.

But there was still power to be had. And of course, magical residue like that is going to lure monsters to that area. Not that it's stopped anyone.

Present Day Storyline:

It was a night to be remembered. It was the coming of age party for one Eikre Dar'Nell. There was great fun, and awesome music. In the intrests of giving back to the community that had housed him for so long, he gathered his friends to a table, and layed out a map that was given to him as a present.

It was a map to, and inside, the fabled ruins of Serathlia.

Not questioning where it had come from, nor questioning the danger, the only topic being heard at that table for hours after he had unrolled the map was the adventures and the loot to be had inside the ruins. Rare magical doohickeys and weapons were inside, waiting to be claimed!

They agreed to meet again at this table again tomorrow at noon to begin the adventure of a lifetime.

Serathlia in a nutshell:

This is a very easy plot line to get. In a medival-fantasy era, there was this city-state thingie, and it was LOADED with magic and power. Obviously, somebody didn't like that, and decided to try and shift that power, and failed spectacularly, resulting in the destruction of most of the inhabitants, and portions of the town. Now, generations after the incidents had been wiped from the memories of others short of legends, a group of young'ns think they can go in and loot the place.

We're the youngsters. Simple as that.

Dramatic Personae:

Gaian Username: Eikre_Vrael_DarNell
Name of character: Eikre Dar'Nell
Age:21
Race: Wood Elf
Personality: Upbeat, outgoing personality ready for a challenge with a near constant smile. His optimism, however, is only tempered by his loyalty. This is his idea, and therefore it's his responsibility to bring back everyone alive. He's a little absent-minded, and compulsive, but we all have our blemishes.
Appearance: Eikre stands a full five and a half feet tall, and weighs...about 100 pounds. Given a set of electric-blue eyes filled with magic and curiosity, and messy silvery hair playing down around his chin, and a rat-tail down to his shoulderblades. He wears chain-mail shirt underneath a blue-white tunic, and similarly coloured breeches...and a pair of sunshine-coloured socks.
Biography: Eikre may have been born with a guitar in his hand, but he probably didn't learn how to play it until he was two. Regardless, Eikre led a happy life filled with music, and the occasional mayhem. His parents were basically your nearby-town hippies, and they gave musical performances every now and again, and so it was natural that Eikre would tag along, and play along some times too. It wasn't long before they noticed that magic coming out of Eikre's song, and not just the abnormal musical quality.
Weaponry: Dual Wields a basket-hilted rapier, and matching Main-Gauche. Supplemented by Arcane Spellsong.
Other Noteworthy Things: Leader of this expedition, and a budding Bard.

Gaian username: Jenna Taylor
Name of character: Karia (Kari) Felospar
Age: 21
Race: elf/human
Personality: Shy, but outgoing with friends. She likes to think things through. Rarely does she do the complusive thing and just wing it, no matter how much she'd like to.
Appearance:User Image
Biography: Her parents were killed in a natural accident when she was younger. She was wandering around when she found a place to stay in the villae Eikre was at when he showed the map. She was overawed by the possibility and decided she was going to go.
Weaponry: sword and daggers ( and a hidden knife in her hair as a hairpin.) She's quick to draw the daggers, but not the sword and kills only in the greatest need.
Other Noteworthy Things: She has never had much experience with love and is awkward around the people who know it. She wishes for it, but knows she doesn't want it just yet. And she's a simple soul who likes nothing better than sitting in the afternoon sunshine and daydreaming the day away under a sky of blue and white clouds.

aian username: Otulissa
Name of character: Fayette "Faye" Arlaen
Age: 17
Race: Human
Personality: She is sometimes a big bundle of sunshine! She is usually pretty happy-go-lucky, but sometimes, she is sort of pessimistic. She does not have a split personality, but her personality changes depending on her mood. And, her mood can change very drastically. She can be hyper one moment, and sad the next. She is also quite sensitive, and hates it when people pushes her around.
Appearance: [Link Edited In]
Biography: Faye was raised by two loving parents, but her mother drowned mysteriously in a river when she was about 12. Faye suspects it was murder, but it appeared to be a 'natural' accident. Anyhow, she has been trained in hte art of swordsfighting by her father, and is very talented. And, she just happened to see Eikre's map one day, and decided she needed some adventure in her life, and so, she was going.
Weaponry: Faye has a long sword, and that is about her only weapon. But, it is the only weapon she needs. She can use a bow and arrow well, if she has one, but she is not bringing one with her on the expedition. She also can use other sorts of blades like throwing daggers, scimitars, and even maces or lances, but of course, she is not bringing all of those weapons with her. If she can grab one, then, she can improvise.
Other Noteworthy Things: Faye usually doesn't like it when elves discriminate against humans, or when humans discrimate against elves...and honestly thinks the whole idea of 'different skills' and 'ancestry' is downright stupid. She believes she can do things as good as an elf can.

Gaian username: Irishroseh
Name of character: Melanie 'Lan' Draper
Age: 17
Race: Human

Personality: Lanie, who hates to be called that, has always wanted adventure. She's a trill seeker, and as long as there is no danger, she's in. She is slightly greedy however, and more than a little gold can tempt her beyond danger. Despite that flaw in her personality, she is bubbly, cheerful, and likes to have a good time. She doesn't get drunk eaisly, but when she does she's sick for days afterwards. But that doesn't stop her from having a pint.
Although she's not amazingly smart, or particularly skilled at magic, she has immense determination, and, a year and a half of living with a thief and treasure hunter, she has picked up some things about traps and the likes. She can keep an important secrets and comfort the sad. She doesn't want love, she likes flings. She's mostly illiterate, but can speak two languages.

Appearance: Lan stands about five foot four, tallish compared to the rest of her family, last she saw of them. She has a rather thin face, with a squarish jaw, that prevents her from being 'beautiful.' Her skin is tanned, testament to long hours spent outdoors doing work, playing, or just sleeping. She likes to sleep in sunshine. Her eyes are, according to her, 'plain, boring, ugly brown,' But she has never seen them dance with laughter or grow dark with anger. That's because she's not the type to stare into mirrors often. Her hair is long, and reddish, her pride, which is why she hasn't been able to cut it short. Instead it hangs in one long braid down to her lower back. Her nose is smallish, her mouth perfect for pouting, and grinning, the latter being seen more often. Her teeth are surprisingly straight for someone in those times, and rather white as well.

Lan is thin and muscular, hard labour stripping away any fat she might have had in another time. She has dressed in dresses and skirts on occasion, but mostly she favors breeches and a light shirt. She's not afraid to get dirty.

Biography: Melanie was born in a small village near a large forest. There were tales about that forest, and ever since Melanie could talk, she was constantly telling people that she was going to be a great adventurer, and going to be rich. Everyone just laughed at her and shook their heads, but her father humored her and taught her how to throw daggers. The local herb woman showed her how to recognize posions one rainy afternoon and she learned to shoot a bow at a small fair, and what she knows of hand to hand combat she learned wrestling her older brother, who later died of pox. She never really recovered from that, but she puts on a front. She left home at fifteen, sneaking on the back of a hay wagon. She entered a town, moved in with the theives for awhile before she could support herself. Because of nights at the tavern, she came to have friends of all races and genders. When the map was shown, her greed for gold and a good adventure compelled her to volunteer to come along.

Weaponry: She has several daggers, all of relativly cheap quality because she rarely gets them back. She managed to win a nice bow in cards [she cheated], and has made plenty of arrows for it. Also, she has a thin sliver of bone with poison in it, carefully tucket into her braid. It cost her a pretty penny for it.

Other Noteworthy Things: Not much at the moment.

Gaian username: Blood_ Covered_Pheonix

Name of character: Rinor Iillis

Age: 18

Race:
Human

Personality: Rinor isn't the happiest person you'll ever meet or the most expressive, she keeps to herself and talks only when needed. She usally hides her emotions and rarley expresses her opinion. She follows orders well enough, only refusing or altering the game plan if she knows she's going to die.
Though she almost never lets it show, she angers easily normaly its just a petty anoyance but if you really get under her skin, she becomes your worst nightmare.

Appearance: Rinor has slightly tanned skin from training out side, her eyes are a soft violet in color. She's about five feet tall, her body is small but muscler, also she has a few scars on her body from her training as a ninja. The most noticable is the one that runs the full length of her right forearm, its about two centemeters wide, though she got it years ago it's still not healed. She wears a pair of brown trousers with a simple black cotton shirt, her clothes are loose to give her room to move around but not baggy. She also choose a ranged combat weapon, she chose kunai knives. At eleven she learned to make and find traps and to disable them too. When she was twelve she was put into a barracks with five other kids her age they became her "squad". For the next three years she trained with those five, soon they became like a family.
One day when she was fifteen she was drugged while she slept, when she woke she was told that her and her family would fight to the death, in the end only one would live. From the time she was twelve she had know that this would happen, so she did what every good ninja had done in the past, she shut off her emotions and went out and killed the people she loved like a family. After that she left the village and wondered around, going from city to city, making a living as an assassin. Until she saw the elf boy's map. As you can tell her life wasn't all sunshine and daises.

Weaponry: She has three kunai that were made to thrown, so they are lighter and easier to break in close combat, she also has a Ton-to that is two inches longer than a regular one that has a very sharp point and small spike on the pommel, along with that she has a Kodachi that is average lenght with a very sharp blade, it is perfectly balanced and the sword catch is a litte stronger than a normal one.

Other Noteworthy Things: She can have both hands doing diffrent things at the same time.

Gaian username: Murderface
Name of character: Evelyn Gardener (Evalee)
Age: 21
Race: Human
Personality: Evalee is defensively outgoing, making jokes on her own expense to make people thinks she is harmless and a little immature. She is immature but not really harmless. She spends a lot of time trying to hide the fact that she is shy and nervous around most people. Never looks a person in the eye, mostly stares at their forehead. Despite her eccentricities she is a nice person and very loyal and brave when it come to adventuring.

Dark blond hair cropped to just above her chin, it curls in a little. Dark blue eyes. When she doesn’t know anyone is looking, she chews her lip. Her smile is somewhat lopsided. She wears a long blue shirt over rough brown pants that tuck into big dirty work boots.
Biography: Her father is the head gardener for a local lord. Her mother is a mid wife. She knows a lot about herb lore and healing. She has been working with her dad most of her life. She has four older sisters who all like to sew and do other girly things. She had watched the others talking about going last night and had not been brave enough to introduce herself. She then spent the rest of the night kicking herself and when she saw them talk the next day she just had to go.
Weaponry: As she is just a common gardener, she isn’t trained for blades or anything, but she has a fairly solid club that she calls her Bommyknocker and her fathers round green and yellow shield from when he was a soldier. She has a machete for bushwhacking hanging from her belt.
Other Noteworthy Things: In her pack she has a fair selection of healing herbs and a few poisonous ones from her father’s garden.

[OOC] And so it begins. Posting shall commence.[/OOC]

The sun shone high in the sky above the quaint little village. Waiting near the inn, one of the bigger structures of the town, was Eikre Dar'Nell. Tapping his foot to a rhythm only heard by him, he waited for the rest of his party to show up. On his back, he shouldered a pack loaded up with provisions for eking out a living in the wilderness, though it was rather spartan. Cheeses, Breads, that sort of thing that could last for weeks. Oh, and his guitar...a rather skinny and long lute for those who hadn't seen one before.

He flicked a strand of his silver-white hair out of the way of his eyes, and realized it was just a distraction from the fact that his newfound friends weren't here yet. Well...to make up for it, I'm the only guy...well...'till full moon comes anyways. He thought to himself and looked around again.

[Yesss!]

Lan groaned and rolled over in her sleep. The sun was shining brightly, and she didn't want to get up. Bits and pieces of the night before filtered through her hazy memory, very very slowly. Methodically, she worked out that she had been at the tavern again, drinking, though not as much as usual. There had been more people there than usual too. And lots more music and festivities. Robert, the bartender, had been pleased, she remembered that clearly. Slowly, she recalled dancing, and boisterous cheering. And a map.

Her eyes flew open and she sat up, her memory comming back with a jolt. Her blanket tumbled down off the bed and she looked around the small almost empty room. Against one wall was her rucksack, bulging and packed. She bounded from the bed, grabbed the bag, and dumped it out. There was a legnth of rope, a lantern, some flint, and all the usual survival things. A small skin, when she opened it and sniffed, contained alcohol. She closed it and threw it back in the pile. She rummaged through her things and felt a little pride at the fact she could pack well while drinking, albiet lightly.

Slowly, she folded her blanket and put it to the side. She repacked everything carefully and placed the blanket on top. She secured it, and hoisted it up. She was already wearing her work set of clothes, having fallen asleep in them the night before. She cocked her head to one side, trying to remember where the man had said to meet. After a second, she nodded and set off. As she walked out the door, her hand reached out and picked up her un-strung bow.
To entertain herself while walking to the other side of town, she began whistling a tavern ballad, quite off key. When she came in sight of the Inn, she immediatly spotted the man and walked right up to him.

"Lan here, reporting for adventuring," she grinned and looked around. "Where's everybody else?"

Fayette was packing her leather mid-sized bag as the morning sunlight streamed through the open window of her inn-room. She smiled, obviously in a happy mood. She was finally starting a true adventure! In her bag was a waterskin filled with fresh water, along with some dry crackers for a snack, if needed, and a sharp stone to be used for polishing her long sword. She also had a small hunting knife, that could be used as an extra weapon if needed, though Faye doubted it. She also packed one change of clothes. At the moment, Fayette was wearing a pretty beat-up red and white dress. Her extra outfit was in better shape. Her long, black hair was tied up in a high ponytail, and she was wearing a black choker-style necklace. She strapped on a leather belt, and from it her sheathed sword hung securely. Then, Faye slipped her bag over her head, and exited the inn in a hasty, excited rush.

Soon, she arrived at the meeting place. She waved at Eikre and Lan, and greeted them, "Salutations, there!" She was soon right beside them and winked. She hoped everyone else would arrive soon.

Lan had swung her rucksack off, and propped it up against the outside of the Inn. She checked and double checked her daggers were in place in sheaths on her wrist and in her boot, along with checking she had an extra bowstring and plenty of arrows. The sun was making her grow warm, so she had stepped back into the shade, all the while, impatient to get going. She had just closed her eyes when someone spoke.

Lan turned her head at the sound of another voice, surprised, she hadn't heard anyone come up. The voice belonged to a girl, with long black hair, and an interesting way of dress. Lan vaguely recognized her from the night before, as one of the people who had agreed to come on this... rewarding journey. She struggled to recall a name, something she wasn't very good at. After a bit of thinking, all she was able to come up with was that she thought the girl's name started with a Fay-sound. Mentally shrugging, she turned all the way around and stood, to properly introduce herself to her new companion, for who knew how long.

She smiled brightly and charmingly, "Hello, I'm Lan."

PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 5:01 pm
Two out of four showed up. Eikre was somewhat annoyed, but then realized, That's about half, really.

"Lan here, reporting for adventuring," she grinned and looked around. "Where's everybody else?"

In response, one of the other girls showed up. Fayette if memory served after last night. "Salutations, there!" She called in.

To that, Lan turned to her and said rather brightly, "Hello, I'm Lan." Something there didn't exactly click in.

Eikre turned to the women and asked, "Ladies, didn't we go through the introductions last night? Or was there too much booze involved?" He raised an eyebrow with the second question. Or maybe the noon-time sun was getting to their heads already, though he dared not risk adding that. It sounded bad enough in his head! Jeez, if the way they dress was any indication, he was going to have enough issues without making them hate him.

At his question, Lan would have blushed, if she had ben the self-conscious type. Which, of course, she wasn't. She hardly ever thought for a moment about what others would think of her before she spoke. Idly, her fingers pulled at loose threads on her tunic. She always had to be moving, even if it was only a little bit. As it was, she was wondering if he was really asking or if the question was rhetorical.

Lan decided to take the question as an honest one. "Booze and introductions or no, fact is, my memory is a little hazy. Sorry--" she paused, not knowing the girls name and not trusting herself to guess. "But um, what are the other people's names? So I know ahead of time." Dimly, Lan was aware she was getting off on the wrong foot, but she mentally shrugged, deciding she'd deal with it later. Her fingers switched to tapping out a beat on her thigh that was playing in a corner of her mind.

PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2008 5:00 am
Fayette rolled her eyes; she remembered everyone names. "You're Eikre Dar'Nell," she pointed out. And then, she turned to Lan and said, "And you are Melanie Draper." She closed her eyes for a moment, remembering the other people. "And Karia Felospar, that young elf, is also coming along I recall... Oh, and of course Rinor Iillis. She was that Japanese ninja, correct?"

Faye beamed with pride. She was positive she got everybodies full names right. This simply proved how she could sometimes be a bit of a perfectionist. But, of course, she just liked to prove others right. she didn't like the way Eikre assumed there was 'too much booze involved.' She did not get drunk easily. Faye explained, "And about my outfit - this is my favorite. It's comfortable, and I don't care what others think. And anyhow, I don't have enough money to get a new one, and I'm too lazy to restitch it." She added, "Oh, and I do have another outfit, a better one just in case I really mess up this one." The human lady smiled sheepishly. Her ripped-up dress she was wearing at the moment probably wouldn't always be suitable for wherever they were journeying to.

"Yeah, Fayette, that sounds about right...or at least, all the women's names anyways." Eikre responded to her naming.

"And about my outfit - this is my favorite. It's comfortable, and I don't care what others think. And anyhow, I don't have enough money to get a new one, and I'm too lazy to restitch it. Oh, and I do have another outfit, a better one just in case I really mess up this one." Fayette added.

What the hell? Can she sense what I'm thinking? Freakin' Telepaths! Eikre thought to himself, Oh, wait, that's just me being paranoid...still. Like that'll stand up to even a little pellet from a sling thrown by a lazy-a** gnome.

"At least you're covered." Eikre pointed out. "Granted the bandages make it look like you're bleeding somewhere, but it'll keep you warm at night."
