It was raining again. Kere left the little den he'd made for himself in the jungle and leapt from puddle to puddle playfully, enjoying how the warm, flower scented rain caressed his fur. Pausing for a moment, he cocked his head to listen to the rain's whispering.
Someone's coming, coming, coming...
Smiling to himself, Kereng'ende reflected that a Muse was better than posting sentries at times. Well, he'd go wait for this 'someone' and make sure that they wouldn't be a threat to his home or friends.
Now, he ran silently, or as silently as oen could in the rain, towards the general area where the Rain said he'd find this 'someone'.

She was so happy that she'd made it back to the jungle eventually. It wasn't the same jungle that she was used to bit it was one and she felt so much better to be back in the dense foliage. All the leaves and vines around her made her feel far more safe than the open savana had.
The rain had caught her off guard. Being out in the open she'd forgot how often it could happen where the plants grew thick and green.
Shaking herself out she perched under some large leaves to wait it out. She liked the water but it was coming down heavy enough that she was turning into a drowned rat. "Maybe i should go for a swim after the rain stops .... there was a lot of water around when i was walking"

Kere paused as he thought he heard a soft rustle over the rain's chatter. Peering cautiously around, he finally spied a darker shape takig refuge under some leaves. Well, this one didn't look like much of a threat.
"Heyla!" he called out cheerfully. "What's your name?"
Truthfully, Kere had no idea of how to appear intimidating. He'd decided that a friendly approach to all and sundry worked much better than being a bully.

She jumped slightly when she heard a voice close to her. Of course the rain would make it hard to hear and she hadn't noticed the lion sneaking up on her. At least he seemed friendly!
"Hello!" She flicked a bit of water off her ears as she smiled at the lion. "My name's Kinyamkela ... who are you?"
She'd never seen the black lion before since she'd never been to this part of the world. She knew the jungle would have been good though. Friendly lions were much better than ones that tried to eat you

Well, he thought, this is promising. Moving closer, he finally saw that the stranger the Rain had warned him of was a leopardess. And a rather bedraggled one at that. Still smiling, he sat and tilted his head.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, miss. My name's Kereng'ende. Ermm... if you don't mind my asking, why are you hiding fro the rain? It's lovely and warm feeling."
Of course, he could just be biased in the rain's favor. It was his friend after all. Then, another thought came to him.
I'll have to tell Hadithi about her if she decides to hang about. Of course, if she was just passing through, he'd still tell his friend. There would just be less of a need for haste in doing so.

She tilted her head at his question. He seemed to enjoy being soaked to the bone in the warm rains. "I just got too watered down." She grinned brightly. "So i thought i'd let myself dry off a bit before running around again."
She was used to being able to move freely and drenched fur was a lot heavier than dry. "Or at least waiting for it to lessen a bit. Puddles are more fun to play in when it's only drizzling."

Ah! Kere smiled even more brightly. This was a problem he could help with!
"Well, if you'd like to come with me, it's much less wet deeper in. And I know some wonderful puddles for playing in."
Rising to his feet, he turned to go back the way he'd come. Turning his head to grin again at the leopardess, he began to move at a more sedate pace than the one he'd arrived using. It'd been a long time since he'd had someone to play in rain puddles with.

"Really?" She got up to follow after the lion. She probably shouldn't have trusted him that he wasn't going to hurt her but she'd never followed those instincts well. He was friendly now so why wouldn't he be friendly later?
"I missed the jungle ...."

"Oh? This is the first time I've ever lived in a jungle," he spoke cheerfully. "I grew up in the graslands. I'm still getting used tot he differences."
He chuckled a bit at himself and led the way further in.

"I was born in one." She nodded as she padded along after him. "Not this one, but a jungle." She thought it was probably off toward the rising sun somewhere but couldn't exactaly remember. It had been such a long time since she'd been 'home'.
"The grasslands are a nice place to visit i just don't think i'd ever want to live there perminatly." Her little trip had been plenty.

Kere considered her words carefully before shrugging slightly and laughing.
"I suppose it all depends, really. I could argue in favor of either, but it all comes down to personal tastes."
Pausing for a moment to study the ground, he smiled and shook her drippign mane.
"Well, we got here quicker than I expected," he said as he held back a trailing bunch of vines with a paw. Here's the puddle I mentioned."

She peered around him and brightened up. "Oh! Puddles big enough to do more than step in." Puddles that you could actually jump around in.
She padded over to one and stuck a paw in it to see exactaly how deep they were.

Grinning, Kere watched Kinya test the puddle. He badly wanted to simply jump in, but a small inner voice warned him that it would be rude to startle a soak a lady by acting the buffoon. SO he watched and grinned and kept his ears open for noises that meant they weren't alone.
"I don't think it's too deep. About ankle high when I checked last."

Gelfin Grinning, Kere watched Kinya test the puddle. He badly wanted to simply jump in, but a small inner voice warned him that it would be rude to startle and soak a lady by acting the buffoon. So he watched and grinned and kept his ears open for noises that meant they weren't alone.
"I don't think it's too deep. About ankle high when I checked last," he murmured. And then he sighed. Pleasant as it was to pass away time with a friend, he did have a job to do. And it was time he got back to doing it.
"Enjoy yourself, Kinya. I have to go back to my patroling. If I don't see you again, pleasant journeys to you."
And with that, he stood and swept quietly back nito the jungle.
