AIM RP Log - Felyn & Taejira Malkia & Rin Malkia made her way out of the den slowly, her stomach slightly swollen, though by no means done growing just yet. She and Mwezi had been hard pressed with letting all the correct authorities know that she was pregnant and when the babies were likely to arrive. They had also had to learn how the process went, what was involved, and who would be there to witness it. All in all, it had been a busy couple of weeks. Today, however, Malkia was taking a break to spend time with her adopted daughter - the cheetah cub that Mwezi had rescued from a hard, lonely rogue life that she might not have survived through otherwise. It was time to have an important talk with the little beauty, time to let her know that in a little while, she would not be the only little creature needing Malkia and Mwezi's attentions. "Rin?" she called out softly, her ears perked and dark eyes scanning the area around the cave. She had no doubt that Rin had probably run off to play with something, but she did hope she didn't have to go but so far to look for the little girl.Rin had indeed gone out to explore, but she was fairly close by, and, as such, perked up her ears at Malkia's call, swivelling around to peer in the direction it had come from. She dutifully loped back towards the den, trotting up to her adopted 'mother' with an airy smile. "Hello, Lady Malkia!" she chirped, rubbing her head against the lioness's legs with affection. Malkia smiled down at the young cheetah cub, affection shining in her eyes as she looked down upon her. She leaned over briefly to nuzzle her head against the top of Rin's, pausing to groom her ear for a moment before she brought her head back up. "Do you want to go for a walk with me, love?""Yes, Lady Malkia!" Rin replied with enthusiasm, letting out a brief purr as she was groomed before turning around and loping off ahead of the lioness in a short spurt of speed. She turned and looked back at Malkia, grinning, and waited for her to catch up. She laughed at Rin's little burst of speed, loping along after her at a leisurely pace. The pregnancy was already showing her that she had quite a few little babes, and as mothers are inclined, she didn't want to stress her body with their fragile little beings inside. "What have you been up since we came to the new pride, sweet heart?" She caught up to her side, looking down at her as she continued to walk along.

Matching her pace to Malkia's, Rin hummed a bit and observed the landscape as the walked. It was all very new to her, and she wanted to absorb it all. "Mostly just exploring." She answered cheerfully. She was happier than she'd been since she could remember. Not only had she been taken in by a pair of wonderful foster parents, but now she had a whole pride to talk to and play with! "What have *you* been up to, Lady Malkia?"
Malkia couldn't help the smile that broadened on her maw at Rin's cheerful attitutde. She had never spent much time around cubs, though she knew she had never quite seen one as happy as Rin herself. She hoped she continued to act that happy when the cubs came. She didn't pin Rin as the jealous sort, but who knew with cubs. "Just making sure Lord Mwezi doesn't get himself into too much trouble," she said, a ghost of a smirk lingering behind. After a moment's pause, she tilted her head, watching the golden-marked girl. "How would you feel about being a big sister, Rin?"
Rin giggled a the idea of Lord Mwezi as a trouble-maker, imagining Lady Malkia scholding him for doing something silly like wandering too far from the den. She tilted her head as well, mirroring her foster mother's action. "A big sister?" She repeated, looking slightly confused. But Rin wasn't entirely ignorant, and it soon dawned on her. "Ohh, Lady Malkia, are you going to have cubs?!" She asked excitedly, bouncing oh her toes and waving her tail with glee.
Malkia was a bit surprised at Rin's reaction, though she supposed she really shouldn't have been. She was a smart girl, and maturing well for her age. It made it easier, as well, since she didn't have to quite spell it out for her. She nodded her head, then, reaching out with a paw to bat slightly at the cheetah cub's tail. Then, with that same gentle smile, finally gave her answer. "Yes, Lord Mwezi and I are going to have cubs."
"Ohh, wow." Rin's eyes got bigger as the reality of the situation sank in. She sat down by Malkia's paw, considering this. "And I get to be the big sister?" She asked, peering up at the lioness's face. Not waiting for an answer, she grinned, showing tiny needle-like teeth. "I will be the best big sister EVER!"

As Rin sat down next to her paw, Malkia herself relaxed into a sitting position. It was more comfortable to be sitting than standing, especially with the extra weight straining her belly. "Oh, I know you will," she said with a returned grin, leaning down to nuzzle the cub slightly. She shouldn't have ever really doubted the girl - after all, Rin was part of a family now, and Malkia wasn't truly sure that she had ever been so before. At least, not one so protective and loving. "Lord Mwezi and I may need your help, too, love. Cubs are a lot of hard work for parents, especially if there's a lot of them." No, she didn't expect to depend on Rin for anything too hard - but she was sure they'd need a bit of help babysitting at least.
Rin nodded seriously, a determined look on her little face. She would be the most helpful! She imagined playing with the cubs and teaching them things, and smiled. "When are you going to have them, Lady Malkia?"
She watched her face in the silence that followed her words, her own expression fading to merely a gentle smile. She was proud of Rin, for taking this so well and for being so willing to help her. At her question, however, Malkia paused. She glanced at her stomach for a moment, then towards the sky. "I think they will be here soon after the next full moon," she said finally. It would give Rin something to look foward to - and she could judge it by the moon, as she was sure most of the pride judged things here.
"Oohhh." Rin replied, looking up at the sky as well. "That's so exciting! I can't wait, Lady Malkia. Can you?" She beamed up at Malkia, wriggling her rear end a bit in her anticipation. "I bet they'll be all tiny and fuzzy and cute!"
As Malkia stared at the sky, she listened to the words that reached her ears. In a way, she was worried over them coming, although she was sure it was just a new mother's anxiety. She had so many questions she wanted answered, but only the gods could do that for her. Finally, with a nod, she turned a gentle smile down upon her adoptive daughter. "No, I can't wait either. They will certainly be the most adorable, fuzzy little cubs ever." She smiled, reaching out to brush a paw against Rin's side affectionately, "and you will be the best big sister ever."

Rin let out a rough purr, nuzzling against Malkia's paw lovingly. She nestled herself between Malkia's forepaws, leaning back against her foster mother's belly. "They're wigglin'!" She whispered after a bit, looking up at the lioness with wonderment.
She shifted her paws slightly apart to let Rin cuddle up more comfortably, then pushed them closer towards her once she was settled so that she cradled the little one against her somewhat. A soft laugh bubbled from her maw at Rin's surprised statement, following it with a knowing nod. "Of course! They know their big sister is there. See? They love you already."
Rin rubbed her head against Malkia's foreleg, still purring. At the lioness's statement, her mouth fell open. "Really? Do you think they know it's me?" She whispered, letting her eyes travel to Malkia's belly, where she could just make out the occasional wriggle of one of her to-be siblings.
Malkia smiled at the purring, leaning down to groom the top of her head lightly as she spoke. Pausing to pull away, she nodded, her smile causing her eyes to dance with a joyful amusement. "Of course," she whispered fondly, "why else would the be wiggling? They're happy."
Closing her eyes to enjoy the grooming, Rin listening to this reasoning. Well, it did make sense! She smiled sleepily and turned to rub her cheek gently against Malkia's belly. "I love them, too." The cheetah cub said, relaxing against her foster mother and imagining what the cubs would look like.
Malkia smiled slowly, shifting until she could lay down with her adoptive cub between her paws. She was doing a good job of raising her, wasn't she? If she could bring Rin up happily, healthily, then she could do it for her own cubs, surely. With a smile, she continued her grooming, letting the silence settle so that Rin could rest.
