 This is a pride of lions who all believe that they are actually demons trapped in lion form, or lions housing the spirits of demons. Other feline species are allowed to join the pride, but only lions may hold the higher positions. Even lion hybrids may have higher positions than other species. Canine species can be a part of the pride, but will only be able to hold the rank of slave.
Throughout a lion's growth in the pride, there are certain things that are generally expected at each stage of life. As cubs, pride members are taught the basics of hunting and survival. They are also taught the history of the pride and the importance of their demonic heritage through stories and legends told by the Sinta'har and Sinta'hare. Other than that, cubs spend most of their days playing or exploring and have a lot of free time.
Juveniles are expected to attend more specific classes geared toward whatever section of ranks that they choose to aim for. The classes are scheduled and take up more of their time during the day. They should be learning and remembering what they learn in these classes.
Adolescents are expected to contribute to the pride in some way (generally by helping to hunt, and/or going on minor missions with their mentors). They have more responsibility and less play-time.
Adults of the pride are, quite simply, expected to perform the duties of the rank that they have trained for and entered into by this point.
A note on the language/pronunciation used for ranks, names, etc. For the most part, something Elven or Elven-sounding is preferred for use-names. In some cases, Hebrew was also used as a base for the rank-names and may be used in names along with Elven.
For Demon names, it is preferred that you either use Latin, or choose the name of an actual demon from some mythology or other (can be fictional even!). There's changes on the horizon! OOCly, there's a tightening and revamp of the rules and information that's looooooong overdue! It'll take about a week to get everything in order, so until then, joining is closed. (Check this thread to find out when it's open again! Shouldn't be closed too long!) ICly, you may see RPs eluding to something coming...What that is will be revealed soon enough!

Pride leadership is changing up! There will be no big metaplot-type tournament for this change, but members are free to RP some battles of their own if they want, or other such things surrounding the tournament. Basically, it happened and the new leaders won, but it wasn't all played out IC'ly by us.
Also, look for a contest for more members soon!

This is just a little heads-up for any and all members of Aikanaro’hini. There have been several updates made to the pride information that needs to be read by the members, mostly clarifications and the like.
First of all, every member must read through the Beliefs and Rituals thread as there have been many sections of OOC Notes added just to let players know what and what not to assume for the various rituals.
Secondly, all members are required to go fill out the Member Add Form once their character is joined. This is so we’ve got an up to date member list. If you own member (cubs included), please go fill out the form located in this thread if they are not already in the list. Thank-you.
Thirdly, there are updates to the forms in the Members and Ranks thread, the Breeding thread, Joining the Pride threads. Please review these threads and fill out any you haven’t completed. It is also suggested you take a book through the other threads in case I missed mentioning something here.
Last, but not least, the Aikanaro’hini’s metaplot is beginning to move. We’ve decided that we are going to mark the meta RPs that lead up to an event later this year. The first installment is here if you wish to keep up with the story. Please heed the notices at the top, thanks.

 Recently...
The death of Sinta'hare Hakuna'jina by a rogue was a blow felt by a good number of the pride, as many lions were descended from her or learned to fight from her. Neumare Moricorm returned after a long absence with a litter and a couple of new slaves. The pride's numbers are once again blooming as cubs are born...But the seers of the pride are getting odd feelings, as if some great change is on the horizon...yet none can see WHAT that change is...
In the Past...
The pride began with a single male lion, Iartuupe. In his youth, he began having strange and terrible dreams of torment and blood, darkness and fire. But rather than turning from these dreams, the young lion embraced them, attempting to figure out where they came from ... why they made him feel so very powerful.
Over time, he came to believe that these visions were sent by a god - the God of Demons. Otherwise known as Morifaer. Morifaer, so Iar thought, had been searching the world below for several years... trying to find one who was strong enough, special ... destined. And yet one who was unaware of his destiny and willing to learn, and to serve.
Iartuupe was one such.
The "god" told the young lion of his true nature... revealed to him that he was not only a lion, but also a demon. That somewhere deep inside of his lion's body, the soul of a demon lurked, trapped and enraged.
Soon, Iartuupe learned to find and embrace his demonic soul ... to realize that he was better than those around him, that he was meant for more.
That he was meant to find others like himself.
To create a new pride with these others, and the progeny of his own blood ... to create yet more demonic lions ... until there were enough ... to take over the world.

To this end, Iartuupe has begun seeking out lions who feel the same way he does. He has also set out to catch and mate with as many females as possible in order to later steal the cubs and raise them as a part of the pride.

More recently, a new faction has shown up. This faction of lions also believes that they are demons in lion form, but they favor more peaceful relations with the rest of the creatures in this world.

The ranks of the pride have swollen since the beginning, and the God of Demons, Morifaerion, has revealed himself at last.
After the sacred labrynth in the volcano was found by three of the pride's princes, a great earthquake rocked the ground and altered the passageways into the holy site. It is now used as the centerpoint for many of the pride's rituals. The earthquake has also opened up hotsprings on its outer edge that the priests use in their daily prayers and routines.

Iartuupe has been killed and Sil'in Drathir is now leading Morifaer's side of the pride. The God helped and encouraged him with this endeavor and is even now manipulating things to his own ends. It remains to be seen what may happen next ...

Leadership has changed once again, with the children of some older lions taking over the reins of the pride. There are unhappy stirrings amongst some of the pride over this development...

  Morifaer is definitely the more violent of the pride's two gods. He would prefer to control everything and have chaos reign for much of the time. Sparda will be the God of Protection. He is Mori's rival within the pride - preferring that the demonic lions live alongside others in peace. Those lions in his faction should look down upon excessive violence and uphold more noble ideals of demons and power in general.

  (Please note that the map is OUT OF DATE. This is no longer the map used by SoA, but it is the one that best shows how things work for the prides directly surrounding it! The Mwako'bi'Giza is disbanded, and the Matembezi'Wasakaji is now the Peponi-pya.)
The pride lands are located west of the lands of the Mwana-a'Lela and south of the Kusini lands.
Close to the Mwana lands, part of the jungle that makes up most of their territory spills over into the Aikanaro lands. To the north and northwest, the area is mostly desert and barren wastelands. The rest of the pridal lands is mostly made up of savannah.
The volcano is a sacred location for the Aikanaro. Though dormant and hollow, it represents a pathway into hell, especially with the maze-like passages that honeycomb the inside, carved out by lava in earlier times.  In the center of the maze inside the volcano is a large chamber with a pool of lava far below. Crossing the chamber is a series of narrow bridges that a lion must cross during the Name-Quest Ritual.
 Dens of the pride are located close to the base of the volcano, with the majority of them several yards away. The dens are formed by tumbles of rocks from an earlier time. The huge piles of rocks are riddled with small caves and hollows - perfect for dens.
For the most part, the closer a den is to the volcano itself, the more important the family or lion living there. Slaves's dens, therefore, are on the far side of the largest rock-pile - where the leaders have their own area of dens which is closer to the volcano. The dens of the priests are very nearly a part of the volcano itself and are in the outskirts of the jungle.
Also, close to the priests' dens is a series of hot springs formed by a recent earthquake. The spring closest to the top is the hottest of these and is used for various rituals and for priests and pride leaders to commune with the gods. As the springs flow down a set of terraces, they get progressively cooler until the last one, on the floor of the jungle. This pool is still warmer than the river water, but only by a little.

1 - Please do not RP in this subforum unless you own a pride member, or have been invited to RP here by a pride member (for joining, plot, etc)
2 - Be polite to everyone OOC'ly! Yes, the SoA are demons here but that doesn't mean the people controlling them have to be lol
3 - Have fun~
4 - If a cub, juve, or adol was born IN the pride (to a female that is part of the pride and NOT outside the pride lands at current), please clear taking them from the pride with the pride owners FIRST. We want to help make sure the plot is a feasible one, as unfeasible plots have been done before without us knowing!
5 - Read all the info before submitting a joining form! It will save you and us a LOT of headaches in the future!
6 - Some plots need cleared before they are run! There are a LOT of seers in the pride, and some things are not looked kindly on ICly. So PLEASE check with us if your plot involves: faking being a demon, pale demons, a dark colored lion not having a demon, cubnapping/removal of cub/juve/adol from the pride, or a non-lion feline being more than a slave.

Q - How do I....?
A - For just about all questions of this nature, see the How To... post below. If you still have questions, contact one of the pride leaders - Manda, Azure Desiderium or Das Tor.
Q - Can I be a pride leader?
A - The answer is likely 'no'. For various reasons, IC pride leadership is going to stay within the hands of the three pride owners atm.
Q - How are leaders chosen?
A - Please take a look at the Rituals for the answer to this :3
Q - But I meant OOC! What do we have to do to get chosen??
A - That's for us to know and you to ... not know. XD Basically, though. Some good ideas are to be a good and consistent RP'er and not cause OOC problems.
Q - My lion is mostly white/another light color! Do I have to have them be a slave?
A - For the most part, yes. There may be some exceptions, but these will be in special cases and lots of plot/RP will be required to get any other rank.
Q - I have a hybrid of some kind. Do they have to be a slave?
A - See above, plz.
Q - What about a canine species or a familiar?!
A - Canine species and Familiars will always be slaves, no exceptions.
Q - I want to do _______ ritual early! Can I?
A - No. The rituals are set where they are for a reason. They're meant to provide RP opportunities for your pride member all the way through their life. If you do one early, you defeat the purpose.
Q - Can I choose a demon name (IC'ly) for my cub/juve/young adol? In other words, choose it before I do the Naming Ritual?
A - Yes, you can. But be aware that this is a RARE occurrence. Most young lions will not know their demon name that early. Also, if you go about IC'ly telling it to everyone, any adult will not acknowledge it and will probably think your lion an idiot. Until the name is confirmed through the Ritual, it won't really 'count'.
Q - I have a suggestion for a belief/ritual/etc...?
A - If you like, you may PM the suggestion to the pride mule. We'll look it over and if we like the idea, it may be added.
Q - I have a god, and I want to join the pride/become a patron of the pride. Is that possible?
A - The best answer at this point is MAYBE. The domain would have to fit in with the pride's beliefs and it's likely you would need to agree that your god would be 'under' either Sparda or Mori - as in, subordinate to them. We don't really need more factions that have just as much power as the two that already exist.
Q - I want to set up and run a small plot! Can I do that?
A - Sure! Just post in the Plots thread, and if you think it will affect anything majorly, be sure you run it by one of the leaders first.
Q - I have an idea for an AWESOME cubnapping plot/plot to take a cub/juve/adol outside the pride! Can I do that?
A - Because of how the pride is with their young, please run it by a pride leader FIRST. We can help you work out any kinks into making it FEASIBLE.
Q - Will there be any kind of overall pride metaplot?
A - Oh yes, definitely. We've already had some happen and we have plans for more!
Q - Oh Oh! I have an idea for metaplot!

The Name quest is a quest in which a demon lion goes in search of his or her True Name – the name of the demon spirit within. While it is preferred you RP this with one of the leaders, it is not required, and can be a solo so long as you run it by the pride mule before posting it!
If you do decide to RP the ritual out, please ask one of the king or queen owners to set up a date to do this ritual by posting the appropriate form (below) in this thread.
If you decide not to RP it out with a leader, you still need to inform the leaders of the Pride that it has occurred. I can offer Barakillian as he guardian / tutor if you like :3 He's really the only free adult in the pride atm and if she proves to be strong, she'd earn his respect and he'd be much like an adoptive father (even if he'd be a grumpy, vain, arrogant father lol). ^^

I dunno what word to use XD disturbed is what imma use atm - she's sweetly innocent, and will remain so even after she grows; you can probably picture her sitting sweetly and innocently, smiling up, within a puddle of blood, amongst mangled animal courpses. That should give you a good mental image XD; but yes, a guardian woul be great!
