As night fell, something stirred the red and brown lioness. Immediately her old instincts of panic set in. A strange feeling of dread weighed heavy on her shoulders and she couldn't help but crouch lower to the ground, ears flat against her head. Maybe taking a nap in this area had been a bad idea.
She stayed as still as she could, her years of hunting in the forest giving her better vision at night and a sharper sense of hearing than most savanna animals. What could have invoked such a...dark feeling? In all her time among her birth pride and with Mwenye, she had never felt such a strong dread. Ever.

Iartuupe, meanwhile ... was prowling along the borders of his new lands in the darkness. He was looking forward to the time when there would be more demons joining him, others available to do this sort of duty. Leaving him free to do whatever he wished... to plunge into the depths of the earth in search of a path to hell, or to seek out more followers, or train the young ones... anything.
But for now, the borders much be patrolled and protected, and there were few adults in the pride as of yet, so he shared in this.
Suddenly, though, the dark lion froze, ears pricking up. Well well ... an intruder. Lips curled up in a silent snarl and Iar dropped his weight low to the ground, stalking forward. He would show this lioness the error of her ways...

Movement. She heard it before she saw it and began to creep away from the sound, doing her best to keep her breathing steady, even, and quiet. The feeling of dread grew as the sound came closer and the moving of savanna grass became easier to see.
In a last attempt to stay hidden, she lay on the ground, as flat as she could get, emerald eyes wide.
Was the source of the movement lion or lioness, cheetah or leopard...The scent was male, and lion...and the feeling of dread only increased. Memories of the only male she'd ever dealt with were strong in her mind...

Completed over AIM...... Manda Iar couldn't see her, but he knew that she was there, stalking ever closer, a smirk spreading across his maw. Just who was this intruder...? Letting out a low sort of growl, he abandoned attempts to be sneaky - knowing now that she was frightened. But what would she do ...? Run, or fight? Truth.Be.Told Slowly...slowly she inched backwards, eyes darting about and ears alert. Oh...she should never have left the jungle! All she wanted was a little bit of cool air before returning to the place Jani had lead her to. She couldn't help it...instinct took hold of her long enough to wrench a whimper from her. Males with manes were bad. Manda At that, the growl increased in volume. And -now- Iar knew exactly where she was. With a suddenly roar, he leapt toward where the lioness was hiding, not quite on top of her but very close. This one could be fun to play with... much like that silly female he had caught some time back - before the pride was formed. Truth.Be.Told Sweet Mkodi, she shouldn't have let out a sound! She yelped when he landed, scrambling to scoot away from him. The small lioness lay her ears back. He was big. Bigger than Mwenye. That did little to help her wits, which were already worn thin. She tried her best to look intimidating, hoping the attempt would not be in vain. But it was hard with her fear obvious and her small size. Manda Iar smirked at that... and abruptly decided to play a bit... "Hello there," he rumbled, tones falsely purring just a bit. Perhaps he could convince this one to stick around a bit more easily than he had A'lora. "What are you doing out this way...? You know there are ... dangerous things about." Truth.Be.Told "I-I...I just wanted some...c-cool air. I-I'm very sorry for intruding." Maybe he was one of the conqueror lions Indira had spoke of? His fur was even more cursed colored than hers! "I can leave now...I do not wish a fight." Oh gods, she did not want another fight with a male. She knew she would loose. What if she lost her life this time?! No...not after she'd discovered the wonders of freedom...she couldn't die yet... Manda At that, Iar titled his head and eyed her. Hm... perhaps he could use this. "Well. I must tell you that I don't usually let trespassers leave so easily," he said, voice still soft, but with menace underneath the words. "But perhaps... if you would agree to something for me....." Truth.Be.Told He would let her go? She felt a little relief at that...but not much. "I...I could...As long as it's not outside my abilities..." She hung her head. "I do not...like making promises I cannot keep." Despite her fear, she would be truthful. The truth was less likely to get her killed. "W-what is it...y-you want me to do?" Manda Iar appeared to consider that carefully for a moment or two, pretending to think it over - though he already knew exactly what he wanted. Not that he would tell her the entire truth, oh no. That could possibly spoil everything. "Hmm.... ah! I have it. This may seem strange, but there is something... about you. Special." A little smile. "I would like to see you again, sometime. Perhaps at a place of your choosing..." Truth.Be.Told Special? That had Maluuni's attention. She'd NEVER been called special before. "Really?" Her special...Oh if Mwenye was here...she'd happily rub his nose in that. "I...I can do that." Where to meet though...She didn't want too close to the jungle. Just in case. She didn't want Jani to suffer for her own vanity. There was a little patch of savanna trees that would work though..."T-there's a patch of trees a half day walk south of here...You c-could say I'm fond of it..." Manda Iar considered that for a moment, and then nodded. "I believe that I know the place you're talking about ... " A little pause, and he smiled. "Hm... in two days' time, shall we meet there?" Truth.Be.Told Maluuni nodded. Two days was enough. She could certainly warn Jani to be careful within that time. And she hoped it would be enough time to steel her nerves to go out there willingly. "Two days is good." She wasn't quite so tense now, but still cautious. Manda Iar nodded with a low purr. "Until then..." he replied, and then turned and walked away. He trusted that she would keep that promise. And if not, he could always hunt her down. Truth.Be.Told Once he was far enough away, she stood shakily and ran. A little off course of the jungle, but she could just turn once she got closer. That had been close...But despite the aching dread within her belly, she couldn't get over the fact SHE had been called special. She allowed herself a little smile.
