I just came across the book "Pigs Don't Fly" by Mary Brown the other day and had totally forgotten about it. I really liked it a lot.
"Pigs Don't Fly" is about a young woman who is somewhat overweight and the daughter of a whore (not the best combo I assure you) She gets caught up with a magic ring, sets out on and adventure that involves a pig with wings, a blind prince and some other really unlikely animal companions.
I've read that one and it's sequels "Master of Many Treasures" and "Dragonnes Eg" but still need to read "Unlikely Ones" and "Here there be Dragonnes"
Anyways, it's one of those books I'd liked so I'm reccomending it. blaugh
