As the steel blue lion approached the water, he could tell from the ripples that danced across its surface that the sun was once more to about to reemerge from its cover of clouds. The wind had picked up, ever so slightly, which meant that it would soon send the heavy clouds scudding away across the sky.

Ronan smiled at the prospect of sun. He could use it after such a dreary day. He had spent it wandering here and there, attempting his best to once more hear the rhythm that his mother swore was alla round him. He had never managed to hear it before, so he didn't quite understand how it was that if he kept trying, he might.

Had he not tried all his life before this?

The tall lion bent his head down to the water for a sip. The cool of the water refreshed him, and he was just pondering the prospect of wading in for a bit of a swim when the sun broke through the curtain of clouds. The rays of sunlight stretched down to earth, bathing it in a warm glow that had previously been blocked out by the clouds.

Mawi Mai was keeping herself busy. She was near the water, under a shady tree. Her paws were placed on a drum, she was thinking, deep in thought about music. She was not acting like a cub for now. At the moment she was busy.

Unlike Ronan, she had found music every where and loved hearing the rythems around her. She loved them, she was raised around music, but mainly the drums. Sure she could sing and dance but she found most of her time with the drums.

She flicked her tail behind her making a rattling nose because of her shakers, then she lightly started to tap out a beat with her front paws, the shakers on them rattling too. She closed her eyes with a smile as the beat started to sound more like a song.

The familiar sound of a beat reached his ears. He could hear it, but after all, to him, they were still simply thumping noises. Except now, many thanks to Nyack, he knew those were called beats. Judging from the intervals between the sounds, he added a mental picture with it, and he began to see what it was supposed to be sounding like.

Ronan saw music, rather than heard it. It was difficult for him to join into a song that had already begun, but he could start one with little trouble. He had learned during his drum quest, from Nyack. The older lion had taught him how to play the beats, but from there he had learned on his own how to lay everything out under his mind's eye, and play from there.

There was no one in the pride, save for Kani, who knew anything of his difficulties with music. He and the cub had had just about the same problems, though Kani's came more from a lack of muse than and inability to hear the songs.

He turned himself toward the music, recognizing Mawi Mai. One of Isithunzi's daughters, though he had never met her in person before.

Mawi Mai soon slowed her beat on the drum. She opened her eyes staring down at the drum, she scrunched her brow then let out a frustrated chuff. "I can't get it right!" She fumed flicking her tail angerily, she rarely got mad but when she did it was mainly out of frustration. "It's missing something."

She growled and slid her drum foreward with a huff. Then she noticed some thing. Or some one.

Her gaze led up and she blushed. She was so embarssed, she didn't know he was there other wise she wouldn't have pretty much thrown a fit. She reconized the male, slightly, the only name that came to her mind was Ronan? Yeah she thought that was it.

"Hello." She said still blushing. "Are you... Ronan?" She asked looking up with a smile.

Ronan returned the smile, and nodded. "Yes, I am," He said as he reached out and gave her drum a small tap to keep it from tipping over. Drumming. He understood where her frustration was coming from. It was a rather difficult thing, if you really thought about it. Though his system of playing music had proven to work quite well. Once he planned, he no longer had to think as he went along. He simply followed his plan.

"It's nice to finally meet you," He added. "See you around quite often. And my mother told me about this little striped cub who was friends with you."

((Oh, the shortness Dx))

Mawi Mai gave him a lopsided grin, she pulled her drum a little closer to her. She always felt bad when she was fustraited and she pushed it away, it made her feel like she was pushing away a dear friend... But then again she was attached to the drum...

She flipped her hair out of her eyes and smiled. "Oh! Aapep, I have lots of guy friends, me and my sister have a whole bunch." She grinned ear to ear. "And yes I'm around quiet offten, I have about... I think seven new siblings." She sighed. "I don't really get along with them as much as Taka..." Her voice trailed slightly.

Rona chuckled. "I heard about that," He said with a knowing nod. "Guys are so much more fun, aren't we?" He added, grinning. In so many ways, the blue lion was still an youngster, lighthearted and full of play. He knew when a situation required maturity, but when it didn't, he was completely content to regress to his adolescent ways. And he was still young into adulthood, so he figured it wasn't unreasonable for him to be as he was. Life was lived to be enjoyed.

Even if he was closer to Jumuu than his brother. That was okay, Jumuu was an exception. She had always been the worrier and he had always been the one to cause worry. As a cub, he had needed the security of knowing he would be protected, and Jumuu's constant worrying had given him that reassurance.

"Seven?" He echoed. He had heard about the new litter, but he had never realized that there had been seven cubs. "Your mother must be busy, then."

He nodded sympathetically. "I don't suppose you would, you've spent so much more time with Taka," He said. He didn't know what it was like having younger siblings. He wondered if it was a good thing. He did enjoy spending time with cubs. They were so strangely intuitive, and you could always trust a cub.

Mawi Mai grinned back. "Yes, yes they are. They are so much easier to get along with." She smirked at him and winked before flicking her tail behind her. It might help her getting along with other females if she wasn't so cold to them herself. But she got along with boys better plain and simple, she was closer to Taka that was the only female other than her mother.

"Yeah, seven. I don't even know who their father is." She snorted slightly, she didn't mind her mother's flirting but she didn't think it would result in seven other siblings. She said she didn't mind brothers and sisters but now that they were here she wanted it back to her and Taka, there was another sister she had... the same as as her and Taka but she was never around. Mawi never met her.

"Mmm." She agreed with a nod. "What about you? How do you get along with your brothers and sisters?" She knew he had siblings. She'd seen them around."It was probably easier for your mother... with your father around and such..."

"Really?" It rather seemed to Ronan as if there was a trend. So many of the children of members of the pride seemed to be fatherless. He had yet to meet someone who was like himself, who had grown up with a father around. Although, he supposed, that was life. Sometimes there was a father, sometimes there wasn't. Especially in a pride like theirs, there was little for a single mother to worry about for her cubs.

"I get along with my siblings quite well," He said, thinking of his gray pelted sister. "Jumuu, especially, but Gharadi and Lazslo, I get along fine with them as well."

Ronan thought back. It probably was easier, especially since their family had originated out in the rogue lands. The "free lands," as rogues tended to call it. It wouldn't have been easy to raise four cubs on her own if his mother hadn't had his father around.

"You're probably right," He agreed. "Although I hear my father was something of a worrier when it came to cubs. He thought he would break us."

Mawi Mai nodded with a smile. "Yeah..." She smiled and pushed herself up so she was standing, she slipped the strap for her drum around her neck then smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. I feel so bad when I don't get along with my younger siblings..." Her voice trailed once more.

She looked up at him with a smile. "So what do you do for fun?" She asked with a grin, she never reallyasked some one that. Most of the others that she knew would jam out and make music, but she really didn't want to hurt his feelings, she heard somthing about how he couldn't hear music, it made her feel funny on the inside.

((Ohyeah, not a lot of people know he can't hear music, but probably some of them would suspect it. So Mawi probably would have heard the rumors floating around or something, but if anyone asked him he'd grin and deny it xD))

"It can't be easy," He agreed with a small shake of his head. To have siblings so much younger and so much smaller. It couldn't be an easy adjustment, especially when it was an adjustment to seven new creatures in the family. And almost overnight, too.

"Oh, well, you know..." He said with a little shrug. "Music-y stuff, sometimes. Or I go and stalk the nearest prey animal. Practice hunting. Or I just sit. And I watch the clouds go by. Or maybe I go swimming." He finished with a smile.

There was really not one set thing he tended to do in his free time. There was just so much he could do and so much he wanted to do.

[[She's heard Rumors. XD]]

Mawi Mai grinned ear to ear, maybe that whole he couldn't hear music wasn't true, she didn't was to bring it up... That would be rude. She trotted over to his side. "Care to join me for a swim then? Its hot." She smiled softly. She slipped out of her drum and gently slide off both of her shakers off of her front paws, then managed to get them off of her tail.

The Adolescent was used to taking off her instruments. They weren't jewelry to her like most people thought. She looked back at him with a smirk. She started to walk toward the water, for once she was quiet as she did. She hated to get her shakers wet.

"Sure, why not?" He said with a nod. A swim sounded like a good idea. After all, he had been debating whether or not to only moments before he saw Mawi. And she was right, it was a rather hot day now that the sun had reemerged.

He watched as she carefully removed her instruments. He wondered what it was like to have more than just a drum. He preferred to stay simple with only a drum. Adding more instruments to the collection would only mean learning more instruments to have to plan and play, and more chance of slipping up.

He waited for her to carefully set her instruments aside, and walked a step behind her toward the water. Ladies first, after all.

Mawi Mai grinned as she bounded toward the water. It felt nice as soon as it hit her feet. She flicked her tail a bit, making splashing. "I love the sound of water." She looked back at him with a smile.

She she walked over to the edge of the water. "Come on." She smiled and then picked one of her front paws up and swiped the water in his direction. "The water's nice."

He grinned as he ducked the spray of water splashing his way, for a moment considering leaping into the water for a splash. No, maybe that wasn't the best idea.

Instead, he waded his way into the water, past Mawi and out where it was less shallow. He stood in water up to his chest, on the sloping bottom, littered with small round pebbles. The sun reflected off them, making them shine and glow in the water.

"You're right, it is nice," He said with a chuckle. Swimming was always such an enjoyable thing to do.
