Mass Effect

So I've been playing it for PC. So far on my first playthrough im only level 16ish, Paragon Soldier who mostly uses pistols (lol), will probably use both pistols and snipers later on, assault rifles and shotguns dont do much for me in this game.

Pretty cool game so far, though I find it kind of frustrating how the battles seem to alternate between absurdly easy and holy s**t I have to restart 10 times hard, and the squad AI doesn't seem to be that strong.

Mostly using Wrex and the tech girl (lina I think her name is) in my party. If I'm still interested after completing it I might play as a magic user (forget the name of the biotec specialist class, is it adept? something like that) who's a full renegade.

Anyone who has played it care to share what they used for their character/characters and share any advice?

well if you are planning on using that type, be sure to use your soldiers(they are great distractions)

I use the soldier a lot and I play it on the 360, its good to mix the party up

i beat it twice, lvl 57 Paragon Infiltrator, pistols and snipers, got specter gear (it owns), unlocked most of the achievements on my 360, my team is Ashley and Liara.

I play a vanguard, and I'm about level 60. I Love the biotic powers + shotguns combo, effectively making my character a walking tank. I mean hell, I can lift a tank with my biotic powers now. I can do crap like lift several enemies i nthe air, and throw them off the ledge, or even just lift them and then unload ammo on them. Its incredibly fun to do.

I always use garrus and wrex, just cause their cool really. Myself and Wrex run in while Garrus snipes, and it Works pretty well. I beat the final boss on the first try, and I found him to be pathetically easy, while several people on the interent mentioned having a hard time with the b*****d.

If your playing soldier, make sure yo uhave great amror at all times (Or else you'll get owned, considering you have no biotic powers to shield yourself with) and you master as many weapons as possible, to fit all situations. I did that with my soldier, and I wipe the floor with opposition.

Another complaint of mine would be that I went to 4 "uncharted worlds" and every single one looked almost identical. Also, the fact that there is no ammo kind of makes using a variety of weapons like you're forced to in some FPSes a little pointless.

All in all it's a great game in terms of dialogue and story so far... just not that big on the combat yet. (or the looting system/acquisition of rare items from what I understand about it)

I heard that in mass effect 2, some of the unchared worlds will be more interesting. But you never know.

tat game was awesome but too short didnt really do and side quests because i rented it i was lvl 16 soldier used assult rifles and shot guns i used Liara and biotic girl(sorry cant remeber name)

I totally agree with Nitnit. I think the main reason behind this is the fact that Bioware has yet to really perfect the combat in their original IPs. Now I'm not comparing it to Jade Empire but to me it almost felt, at times like Bioware is just a futuristic version of Jade Empire but only slightly better.

I really want to finish this game but the combat is really hindering me from even wanting to fight anymore enemies to get to the end.

ninjabear - I doubt you completed the game at level 16...

deathguiser - I find the pistol to be very accurate, decently powerful, and very deadly when I can use marksmen

Niter - I never played JE, but I find that the actual universe of ME (despite being a bit of a pain in the a** to navigate at times) is amazing due to its sheer emersion.

Although.. I hope it mixes stuff up soon since im pretty early in the game (I think) and it's starting to feel a tiny bit repetitive.

I found the combat to be pretty fun. Sure its not revolutionary, but its good none the less.
