Sucks!
I just watched it, and the ending sucked butt.
I have no clue why the child, and mother can't see the dad?

Can someone please explain this too me? I also don't understand hwo they were in the same town, in the same place and couldn't see each other. Did the mother go back in time or something?

Since I was already a fan of the Silent Hill games beforehand, I'd say that while you don't necessarily have to play the games to understand the movie, it would definitely get you used to the complexity of the stories told in the Silent Hill universe. At any rate, here's my take on things...

Contrary to popular belief, no, the mother and daughter are not dead. They're still trapped in Alessa's alternate dimension. Here's the deal...

There are three parts of Alessa:

- Alessa (the original body)

- Sharon (Alessa's good side)

- Dark Alessa (Alessa's evil side)

Sharon and Dark Alessa are basically physical manifestations of the two sides of Alessa - the good side and the evil side. As for how Alessa created these physical manifestations (and the alternate dimensions), it can only be assumed that she possessed some kind of supernatural power (which in addition to the fact that she had no father, would obviously lead everyone associated with the cult to call her a witch). That being the case, this is what happened:

1) Dark Alessa does not, in fact, take over or possess Sharon. Dark Alessa (the evil side) simply recombines with Sharon (the good side), creating a new and complete "reincarnated" Alessa.

2) Alessa's pact with her evil counterpart not only ensures that she will help her exact her revenge, but that Alessa, after making herself "whole" again, will also be granted a new life with a better mother: Rose.

3) And as for the ending:

Alessa's plan works - Dark Alessa and Sharon recombine, creating a newly "reborn" Alessa, and she ends up with Rose (who either isn't aware or just doesn't care that this little girl isn't her Sharon anymore) as her new mother. Now with Sharon's memories to work with after reuniting her two halves, Alessa can extend her alternate dimension and create a world just like the one Sharon and Rose lived in, where they can stay forever. In other words, Alessa doesn't want to leave her alternate dimension and in her eyes, for good reason. The real world is where Alessa was hurt, abused and humiliated. In the real world, she felt unsafe, unloved and that the people are untrustworthy (especially men, considering that the absence of her father - assuming he even existed - was the source of her torment, in addition to her horrific experience with the school janitor). Alessa wants to live out the rest of her new life with her new loving mommy in her alternate dimension, where she's in control and she feels safe. However, this is also how Dahlia's warning to Rose, "Be careful what you choose," comes to pass. Unfortunately for Rose, this end result means that she is essentially trapped in Alessa's alternate dimension indefinitely.

The movie was good uptil the ending.. ruined it for me.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

The ending actually follows the ending of the first game, I believe. I haven't played it yet so I have no idea. The only difference is that Rose is the 'Harry' of the movie, searching for 'Cheryl' or Sharon. Also, Pyramid Head was not in the first game (which ticks me off since they're making a second one. I was hoping it would be based off of the second game.)
Anyways, looks like Yahoo! has provided you the answers you need. xD

Dorothy..

Do they ever get out?
They're making a sequel but I don't think it has anything to do with Rose or Sharon. I want to know if Rose gets out!!

I might pick up the game and play it.. but I have to get my brother's xbox fixed or buy a ps2 or new xbox.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

I don't think they do ever get out. They were 'lost in Silent Hill' so to speak. At least, the alternative universe that's there.

I don't think the second one has anything to do with them, either. I hope it follows the storyline of the second game. I love that one.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

I think that's what is supposed to make the ending so tragic. Another thing that doesn't follow the first game - Sharon/Cheryl only had one parent.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

Oh yes, I completely forgot that she was adopted in both the film and the movie. I haven't seen the movie in awhile, so I forgot about all of that.

They are fun! Creepy, but fun.
If they're going to do it after the second game, you should check out the synopsis for it. It's a good storyline.

I believe in Harvey Dent.

I believe so. There's a radio that crackles whenever there's an enemy near you, and you only have a light so it's dark most of the time.

Resident Evil 4 still scares me to this day, but I love playing it. It's so much fun.
