Mwenye-Heri Tarishi sat idly by in a shallow swamp pool, simply looking peacefully around her. It seem so strange to be home sometimes, after so long away - where there were savannahs, mountains, even deserts. But it also felt right to be home - where it was wet, humid, and frogs sang no matter the time of day.

Maradufu had scampered away from his littermates and mother again, this time in search of ones of those noisy frogs. They were amazingly fun to chase, with their ridiculously long back legs and unbelievable jumps. Wouldn't it just be awesome to be able to jump like that? If he could, he'd do it all day!
...hey, there was his sister! She had a horribly long name that she'd found outside in the great big world, but luckily Shishi worked just fine.

It was hard to miss the approach of one of her younger siblings - their movements through the swamp still tended to be quite loud, even if they were trying to practice stealth. They were only little things, after all! They'd get the hang of it eventually.
Shishi waited to see which it was, before greeting him with a genuine smile. "Good morning, Maradu."

"Morning, Shishi!" He worked his way over to her, a definite bounce in his step. Although it had been weird to suddenly have one of the many older siblings he'd been told he had to pop up, he'd quickly taken a liking to her. She knew all sorts of cool things!

"And how are you this morning, little brother? Run away from mother again, have we?" Shishi chuckled, dipping her head to nuzzle affectionately at Maradufu. It had been quite a surprise to come home to six new siblings, but she'd grown rather fond of them, even if it could be overwhelming if you were bombarded by them all at once. "What have you done with your twin, hmm?"

"They were sleeping!" Maradufu answered, explaining his reasoning for leaving both his mother and his twin behind. His mother slept quite a lot, actually, especially since the world-shakes. She'd spent a lot of time off by herself, and making sacrifices to the spirits. She'd even had some of the pride kill a crocodile. It had been awesome!
After a bit of a delay, he remembered his manners and asked, "How're you?"

"Sleeping, huh? Well, I guess they deserved to get left behind!" The lioness laughed, ruffling her brother's cub-mane with a dirty paw - not that it mattered, because he was already dirty. It was a near-constant state for most any swamp lion. "And I'm just fine, thank you for asking."

"Yuh-huh!" Maradufu agreed, just before breaking into a humongous cub-yawn. Whoa! Where had that come from? He was only just wondering that when another yawn worked it's way out. Geeze!

"What's this, hmm?" Shishi stifled another laugh. "It looks like maybe you could use a bit more sleep yourself!" So saying, she gently but quickly plucked him up by the scruff of his neck and started off towards the den.

"H-Hey!" Maradu protested, but reflex kicked in, and he dangled from his sister's grip without struggling. Besides, now that she mentioned it, he was feeling kind of sleepy, and a nice warm pile of mother and siblings wouldn't go amiss.
He was asleep even before they arrived, though, and was blissfully oblivious by the time he was deposited next to his twin sister, and Shishi curled up opposite their mother.
