OO23OO Fresnel OO23OO I tried my hand at an AR which I felt was really long You're, like, the third person who's said this to me. Is it really that long of a rifle? It's not bad. It might have been because my arms were tired, it might be because I like the concept of a smaller rifle. I had a good time shooting it but my arms were shaking like crazy. It's really really accurate, though. The trick is to keep it close to your body and keep your left arm tucked. Your entire upper arm should be touching your chest.

It was my first time so a poor stance probably didn't help me. I think I would have liked it a lot more if I had some sort of rest or bi-pod.

Rommel_Desert_Fox Fresnel OO23OO I tried my hand at an AR which I felt was really long You're, like, the third person who's said this to me. Is it really that long of a rifle? xd That reminds me of choir. In choir one of the girls told me her dad had 2 M1 rifles, bayonets for them, and a mauser.
She said the mauser was a pretty flimsy gun compared to the M1.
M1's stock is a ******** fence post for christs sake. scream
Anyway now I'm interested in meeting her dad and borrowing some guns... though that wont happen. :XP Yeah, I get that feeling when I pick up my dad's M1. "Jesus Christ, this thing's ******** HUGE."

That's what SHE said!
My grandpa tried using the M1 when he was in the army. He said it was so bulky that he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it (from the inside). He wanted to grind down the stock so it would fit him better, but since it was army property they wouldn't let him. The sarge handed him an M1 carbine expecting him to suck horribly, but he did exceptionally well with the carbine because it fit him better.
xd Ok another grandpa story. blaugh So when my grandpa was getting his army training he wanted to get a 3 day pass to see his girl. The sarge said they were going to be learning M1 maintenance so he couldn't go. Being the arrogant guy he was he told the sarge he could do that blind folded... the sarge had a blindfold. xd
Anyway he disassembled and reassembled the rifle blindfolded so he got his pass.
