The broad river was too much an obstacle, anybody could admit this. Blue eyes stared at it, taking in the deep waters, frothing in places. There didn't seem to be any rocks or logs to make a crossing, as if it was on purpose. Hesitating a moment, Mut reached a paw out, ready to step in.

"And just WHERE are ye goin'?" Stepping away from a bush where he'd been observing the processes of something or other, a gray and brown lion watched Mut. "Ye'll drown in tha river, lass." Moving between her and the river, he tilted his head. "Just wha' were ye tryin' to accomplish, anywhee?"

All that could come to her mind and mouth was a single word. "What...?" She'd barely understood a word he'd said, let alone comprehended the question. "Can you... Repeat that...? I don't think I understood you..." She'd never heard an accent before. At least... Not one like this. It was odd to her.

Letting out a sigh, the male shook his head, brown mane flopping. "Where. Are. Ye. Goin'?" He motioned to the river. "Ye will drown. Go under, never come back up." Sometimes even he had to be frustrated by his own manner of speach. Then again, he couldn't help it.

She followed the motion, listened... Then nodded. "Oh... Okay..." The river was dangerous... Right, not touching it. "I was wondering what pride lives over there, is all..." She paused, ears flicking. "I'm Mut, by the way... Um... You are...?"

Stepping away, the lion gave her a look. "Ah'm Li." He paused. "Moot...?" He'd never heard a name quite like that before. Then again, he wasn't too attentive of those not part of the pride... And this most deffinately wasn't a lion who was. Though she did look like a few... He couldn't place which ONES, though. Pausing, he motioned across the river. "The Kusini'mwezi live o'er there."

"The Kusini'mwezi...?" Following the male, Mut frowned. After a moment, she realized... "It's not Moot, it's Mut. Short on the 'oo'. Like... A sneeze. Short, abrupt." As she moved around him, she eyed him. She didn't recall having seen a lion with brown eyes like that before... Besides... She stopped. "Do you know a lion... Named Mahiri...?"

Not even looking back, he shrugged. "No' really. Ah don' talk ta many lions... Or cheetahs, fer tha' matter. Ah don' socialize ta know." As if that were the end of the discussion, he stepped down the bank towards some rocks. The way the water rushed around them made it dangerous to cross there. With the ease of someone who'd done it before, he jumped from one rock to the next until he was across.

Watching Li cross, Mut considered following him. But the risk of slipping and falling in the river was enough to staunch that urge. Letting out a sigh, she turned and started to walk. Oh, well, there were other places to go. After all, the world was big and she had a lot to learn about life outside the Pridelands.

Pausing as he climbed a rise in the land, Li looked back. Such a strange lioness... Mahiri... Where had he heard that name before...? Maybe it was somebody's son or daughter or something... Or maybe an uncle... He couldn't quite remember. Shrugging it off, he turned and continued on home.
