Got my deer, first night!

I feel amazing. This was my first year out hunting and slammed the deer.

Its an 8 point, four on each. My brother and I were heading home after the day of nothing and noticed a small herd standing up on the hill in our CRP patch.

We went on up on the hill and my brother said "You see the small one? Get him." Right about that time, a bigger buck came tromping over the hill. My brother turned the Jeep a bit and I hopped out the side. I raised the .243 and realized I was a little ahead of him, so I waited, he came into the scope, I followed him a bit right above his shoulder, then BAM! One shot, and my Hornady 95 grain SST did its work and completely destroyed its shoulder, went through a lung, and hit a bit of its heart.
It ran about 30 or 40 yards and dropped.

If our wonderful admins will let me, I'll put up some pictures. They're a little bloody, but nothing too bad, really. The only bad one is me and my brother hosing it out a bit, and I wasn't planning on putting that one up, anyway.

So, with their permission, I'll get the photos up as soon as possible.

I saw more gore in that sex ed and health classes then I will ever see in a photo of a cleaned deer.

Also, a cleaned deer doesn't make you want to vomit unlike some certain pictures of some certain verruca on some certain parts. As shown in much detail in highschool health classes. Have fun at lunch kids!

Just some X-rays of the corpse and perhaps a pic of the impact.

the guy who got shot with .40 and then some .223 isn't too bad. it's just a guy lying there with a bunch of holes in him. i believe the story is he was shot multiple times with .40, and a significant number of them just flattened themselves against his ribcage and didn't do much damage, then he was hit with .223 a few times and dropped. iirc the .pdf was designed to accompany some kind of internal discussion about their ammo.

If the FBI wasn't so wimpy and would have stayed with 10mm, I'm sure the guy would have been a lot more dead, a lot more faster with a lot less rounds.

Here in Illinois it's considered poaching, with some pretty heavy high consequences. confused
