Ok, the story is as follows...
A storm raged behind the frightened sailor's as they raced an unforgiving sky towards land. "We'll never make it!" one anguished sailor shouted to the captain, his face a mask of fright. He was betrothed, and wished to return to his beloved Michelle. The captain held a straight face, as if he hadn't heard. The sailor's shoulders slumped, and he returned to his work lackign the diligence he had before.
"Land ho!" a man shouted, perched high up in the crow's basket, hand covering his eyes to block the bright sun reflecting off the oceans surface. Every sailor's spirits rose, their eyes gleaming with a hope that the captain would change their course till the storm had blown past. A small flicker of some emotion passed over the captain's face, confusion mostly. He had memorized every map of this area and knew they were still several days from their destination, and the nearest land. But torn between the storm and the strange island, he made his decission.
"Hold straight." he commanded, much to the disappointment of the sailors. A hopelessness over took them as they did as told, keeping the ship steady on her current course.
The island became more than just a line on the horizon as the ship drifted closer and closer. "I said hold steady." the captain yelled, annoyance clear on his face. All of the men cowered, but one stepped forward. "We have. It appears we're caught in a current sir." he told the captain sheepishly, keeping his head bent low. The captain opened his mouth to reply, but the softest, sweetest sound drifted past his ears. A song, he realized as his eyes opened in awe. A beautiful melody that held him inthralled, along with his crew, and rushing over to the side of the ship, pushing past the other sailors. THey weren't close enough to see who or what was singing, but they could tell it was from the island. "Make way." the captain commanded, but he didn't need to. Every sailor was already rushing around to their posts, charting a course towards the mysterious sound.
The melody's pull got stronger and stronger as they approached the island, until every man stopped his work to simply listen. The current kept them moving towards the rocky shore, till they could see where the song was coming from. One of the most beautiful maidens stood on the shore, mouth open in song as the melody became sugary sweet. None realized the ship was coming dangerously close to shore until it was to late.
The ship hit the rocks, driven into them again and again by the waves they failed to notice. The maiden was gone, running off down the rocks, her song releasing the sailors from their trance. They could do nothing to stop it though, and their ship sank as they tried desperately to save it and it's cargo. Seventeen men went into the water, but only one came out. Shiprecked on a strange island without food, nor water.
My character would be the siren, yours the sailor. It would progress however we felt like making it progress. If you want me to changesomething, just pm me and I'll be more than willing to change it. =]
Also, this is set in old times, so no cell phones, tvs, ipods, radios, ect. Only a siren, a shipwrecked sailor, and a tropical island.
