A wii ware game that i've been lookin at is sandy beach by konami, suprisingly, its not that bad, it has two modes, freemode and crab battle.

free mode is a castle designer basically explore the functions of all the tools and make some neat castles

crab battle is a tower defense. that actually somewhat like defend you castle, only in 3-d and you get cannons! i've yet to get through the ten wave onslaught but it is definently a challenege. you build walls to try and deter the crabs from getting to your castle heart which is a large tower. you can place cannons on these walls, but if the wall falls, so does the cannon. After each round you can use the metal detector to find a free cannon, at the cost of some time you could use to build your castle walls up. to buy cannons, you simply need build walls and fortify your castle, you get 100 per wall built so build like crazy!

there are also some unlockable things you can put on your castle, i've yet to unlock one, but i have a feeling it has to do with crab battle or it might be over time.

so heres the rundown, and these scores are for both modes.

audio: everything sounds great, the music is pretty laid back, everything makes a decently realistic sound, no complaints here.

Graphic: everything move fluently, though the sand blocks at times seem unnatural, all in all it still looks good.

Gameplay: free mode is for more a player that plays things like animal crossing, thats about its speed. crab battle is definently a challenge, once you hit wave 5 and they get to the heart its over.

multiplayability: i havn't been able to test it out but in free play you can have more than one player. though i am unsure how it works, it couldn't be all that bad.

Control: for some of the other wiiware this could be an issue, it was not here, the only part that takes getting used to is the camera movment, its not hard, just gotta get used to it and then you won't miss place so many sand blocks, or destroy the wrong ones. >_>

overall: its an ok game, worth the 500 points it costs, my only regret is that crab battle wasn't multi, or that there isn't no castle wars mode for multi. who wouldn't want to build elaborate castles, then compromise their structural integrity?

and that is how the game plays.

Crab Battle's got to be a nod at that Metal Gear cartoon. Especially since Konami made it.

I'm surprised though. All of the footage I'd seen of this game was boring castle building. Nobody even mentioned that there was an awesome tower defense mode. This game got kind of ripped off with its advertising.
