tomayto or tomahto?

There are so many different ways of saying things, it may have to do with reigon and such but I'm just asking.

Tomayto or tomahto?
Potayto or potahto?
Baygel or beggle?

It kind of goes along witht he accent thread a bit ago but I think it's different enough.

Any other words that people have had disputes on how to pronounce before either?


I have a friend that says puutayto. I found that one interesting.

yup yup yup. But then again, I've never heard anyone in britain call it a 'tomaytoe' or 'potahto' so maybe we just don't have it in our accent. *shrugs*

hmmn...sure there's other words like this - like 'scon' vs 'scOne'.

And also what you call your various meals.
eg
me: breakfast-lunch-dinner
my flatmates: breakfast-dinner-tea

I call the meals breakfast-lunch-supper.

interesting. I'm an 'ay' person as well.
And I tend to drop letters too.
Intersting sounds more like 'intersting', accent is more like 'acksen-h'
That also happens to mint.

I'm a breakfast-lunch-dinner person.

I'm also a scOne person.

There's also some other things that I'm thinking while we're on the topic of other words for things.
In certain parts of the east coast they're jimmies rather than sprinkles.
In some parts of the east coast drinking fountains are bubblers too.
And in Wisconsin(if I'm remembering this conversation right) ATM machines are tym machines.

I won't even get started about dropping 't's or skipping out letters/syllables haha

eg I say interesting as genrally "Int'restin'

but that's just laziness XD

for caramel I say 'ka-ra-mel'

I noticed that when I was announcing on a microphone and I realized that I was saying kar-mel instead of car-a-mel.

That and I noticed my sandwiches lack 'd's. I say 'sanwich' instead.
