There Rishima sat, high upon a rock formation, starting up at the large full moon. His honey-golden eyes eide and taking in its full grandure. He imagined the winged markings of his back sprouting in to large golden real wings, and flying to the pure surface of that expansive moon. He'd dreamed it, but knew it was impossible. He didn't let it bother him though - there was no since in being bothred by what could not ever be.
No, instead, he had a family here to look after. A life on earth to live to its fullest. While Rishima may not have appeared to be one of the most optomistic, or outgoing of lions, he was not a pesimist, or completely foul of mind, either. He didn't pay much attention to others, and so that was why most would assume him to be otherwise. He chose to mostly concern himself with family and learning.
His lack of interaction with others, however, left Rishima as quite socially awkward. Instead of conversing, he'd choose to remain silent, rather than embarrass himself. Sometimes though, you just didn't have that option,...

Ukene had, on another one of her little adventures, managed to get completely lost. This was something of a feat, considering that she'd been pretty much everywhere that a juvenile lioness could go in the pride's lands, courtesy of an inquisitive mind and a total lack of inhibition. Climbing the rock formation to scout and try to find her mother (or one of her siblings at least, or anyone) had seemed like a good idea. Two slides and one shallow scratch on her paw later, she wasn't quite so sure. But at least she'd made it to the top, right? Except.. there was someone else there. The light of the Great Lion made it easy enough to see that it was a cub, smaller than herself, but not by much. He seemed deep in thought, but that hadn't ever stopped Ukene before: she happily drew closer until she'd properly invaded the personal space of her companion and sighed happily. Someone was here! She wasn't lost! Or well, she was, but not really, really lost, because now there was someone with her! With this happy thought in mind she turned to the younger lion and beamed joyfully: "You're awesome, you know?" It was slightly better than what she'd originally wanted to say ('You're here!'), but not by much.

Rishima's ears caught the noise of the young lioness before she even appeared. He had glanced over his shoulder just in time to watch her approach with a narrowed gaze, which grew wider and wider, and sharper, as she began to invade his personal bubble. Didn't take much to do that, though. At first he wondered just why she looked so.....happy.
"Excuse me?" He asked, after she had proceeded to call him 'awesome'. He was,...quite confused. Rishma began to reguard her more carefully, eyeing her like someone trying to piece together a puzzle. "What is it you want?"
The words were perhaps a bit harsher than intended - his tiny whisper of a voice holding quite an edge to it, but he showed no remorse for being rude.

The young lioness took a while to ponder on this. What did she want? There were lots of options (like a snack, or one of those nifty trinkets she'd seen some of the older lionesses wear, or for her siblings to have more time to play, or..), but in the end it wasn't really about her, was it? There was only one good answer to a question like that:
"World peace. And for people to be happy. Without, you know, hurting anyone. You shouldn't ever hurt anyone 'cause it's bad, and only bad people do bad things, and you're not a bad person, are you?" She turned expectant eyes on the younger, clearly waiting for an affirmative answer to her somewhat rhetorical question, so she could go on with her ramble.

"There's hatred and violence in us all." Was his simple answer, as he turned back to look at the moon. And what was that line from the song he had heared the moon utter in his dream, a few nights ago? "You must be the change you wish to see,..." Rishima said, somewhat off handedly, as he remembered.
And it made since to the cub -- you couldn't just sit by and do nothing, and expect the outcome to be in you favor. Or well, you could, but it wasn't likely. Expecially not with anything like 'world peace'.

Ukene stared. This cub was really, really smart, wasn't he? A lot smarter than her, for sure; but what he'd said did make sense in a way. No one could claim that she was a smart girl, but she wasn't completely lost either, at least.
"I see what you mean." She nodded thoughtfully, quiet for a bit, lost in her own thoughts again. "I think I'm very nice, though, but you can't ever really know, can you?" It didn't sound as good as it had in her head, so the young lioness tried to elaborate: "I mean, you might think you're the smartest, bestest, nicest thing since the Great Lion, but that doesn't really mean you are, does it?"

"You could think you could fly. that doesn't mean you can. Doesn't stop you from thinking it either." He replied, then gave a small shrug. "We're individuals. And in the end, it isn't what we think we can do, but what we've done that really matters." as he said this, he stood, streatching his limbs. He'd been sitting there for a while. "You want peace. You can imagine it. Think you can achieve it but-" another shrug, "-doesn't happen if you don't take the steps to work towards it."
The thought then ran through his mind -- why was he talking about this at all? Why was he wating time shooting the philosophical breeze? In front of the Great Lion's very eye, no less? Did it matter?
"I believe," he continued anyway, "That good is the first inclination of all living things. We're all born good. But the world's evils povert that, and taint us. If one can create a paradise, there still be an evil somewhere in the shadows-" as he said that, an eerie shadow passed over the moon, and his voice lowered to a whisper, "waiting to strike."
His honey eyes glanced at that dreaded cloud, ears folding against his little skull. He didn't like the nights without the moon. He didn't like not being able to see the Great Lion's light.

Ukene had been lost halfway though, but it all sounded very impressive, didn't it? She took some time to mull over his words in her head, absentmindedly watching the cloud that was obscuring the Great Lion with the younger lion.
"But.." she said hesitantly once she was caught up, "Where does evil come from, then? I mean, you said the world, but the world is a lot of things, right? It's not like, the grass or the desert or the sea is evil, is it?" Not that she'd know, having never encountered two thirds of those things.

"Jelousy,...greed,...all those emotions that,...I suppose were born many many many generations before anyone. And since then, has flourished." A dormant infection, waiting to latch on to even the most innocent of creatures.
It seemed fairly easy for Rishima to speak of things that he couldn't be proved wrong or right about.

Ukene nodded thoughtfully, imagining in her mind's eye several giant monsters slowly growing larger and larger until they were ready to jump innocent, unsuspecting creatures and infect. How awful! She'd be sure to watch out for anything of the sort from now on, just in case - she should probably warn Utunzo and Upenzi too, just in case they hadn't heard of the danger. Maybe her mother too. And Alcmene. Hmm, this could take some work..
"Isn't there some way to stop them, then?" Her voice sounded quite worried: "This could be dangerous! There's got to be a way to stop it, right? Because otherwise we're in so much trouble, I mean, if they've been lurking for that long they've got to be smart, right? Or dead. You can't live that long and not be smart! You'd have walked off of a cliff or something. I probably would have, anyway. I mean.." The lioness bit her lip and scanned her surroundings warily. What if they were jumped right now?!

"I don't know all the secrets." Though he did take pride in what knowledge he did have - even if it was speculation. "Smile. I believe,..smiling, scares them away." Rishima had never seen anyone smiling that seemed to be jelosy or greed's puppet. Then again, the young cub had never seen an evil smile. But, at the moment,..it sounded good.
The other's concern though, intrigued him. He was almost curious as to what exactly she thought 'jelousy' and 'greed' were. However, he shook his head, and cast a glance back up to the still-covered moon. A long sigh escaped him.

"Smiling?" That sounded rather.. easy, didn't it? Deceptively easy, she thought in a fit of clear thought. Ohohoho, like in her mother's stories! Okay, okay, got it, smiling she could do. "Awesome."
"How do you know all of this, anyway? No-one's ever told me stuff like this, I mean, even Mom hasn't -- unless I've forgotten, which I guess is possible, 'cause I tend to forget stuff rather often, but I'm kinda a lot sure that I'd have remembered something like this." She thought for a moment and added: "Probably."
[Sorry it took so long to reply! ;_; Feel free to smack me if it happens again, I'm nearly as absentminded as Ukene.]

(( it's okay, I'm only checking every few days or so, anyway. XDD ))
"I have a lot of time to think," He explained, simply, after her little ramble of sorts. Truth was, he didn't know much at all. But it was sort of nice to string someone along, at least for a little while. But, he had to admit, verbalizing his thoughts was harder than he'd imagined. And a little annoying. He could see why people got so annoyed at having to explain the simple things. It would seem he'd now find a new kind of respect for his elders.

"So do I, but I never think of anything like that." There was a slight whine in her voice, but it was gone as quickly as it came. Sometimes she really wished she was a bit smarter - or perhaps more accurately, a bit more focused. She had moments of brilliance, sure, but it was actually more along the lines of 'moments where her thoughts stopped going in every direction at once and actually allowed her to focus on only one subject' and she had the sneaking suspicion that the rarity of those moments made people think she was somewhat.. dumb.
Not that it really mattered, did it? She had Upenzi and Utunzo and Mommy, and they'd never think she was stupid! Or mean it in a bad way, anyway.
Which reminded her, the cavalry should be arriving soon. Through her many misadventures, there was one thing Ukene had come to be entirely sure of: no matter where and when she got lost, one of her family members would always find her within the hour. Two, tops. Well, okay, once it'd been two and a half, but that was just a detail! The cub had often wondered if her family had some sort of telepathic power or something that allowed them to find her at all times (which had conveniently skipped her, of course) or if they really just knew her that well.
Oh! But what about Rishima's family? He might be lost too, and his parents didn't neccessarily have an inbuilt radar.. "Aren't your parents gonna worry soon? I mean, you're even smallerererer-" stopping long words proved occassionally to be somewhat of a problem for Ukene, "-than me, and my Mom worries, even though I think Utunzo might worry more than her, sometimes."
[rofl, OK. XD; Getting close to a wrap-up, you think?]

((Yup ^^ )) "They won't be worried." Rishima said, shaking his head. "I am responsible, and they know that. They know I'll get home in one peice. Sooner or later." Rishima even tacked on the faintest himt of a smile, though it was more of a small smirk.
"What of yours?" Rishima had already profiled her as the type to get frequently lost, and need to be found - no doubt causing her own parents much worry. He mentally sighed, and shook his head. Sometimes he just seemed like such an old doof already, when he thought about it. 'Just a stuffy old doof.'
And it was getting late. Thinking about it now, he could feel the heavyness of his limbs, and eyelids. Yes. It was time to go home.
