Sounds like an old Opie and Anthony skit. In fact, it sounds like Opie and Anthony, voices and all. They used to run a thing every Mothers' Day called "Hi Mom". You'd call up your mom and say "Hi mom, I'm... [gay, a porn star, in jail, etc.]" Hi Mom I'm in Jail was one of their best skits of all time, right alongside their 100 Grand skit.
Honestly though, I expected him to say "I've been listening to the radio. Sucks, doesn't it?"
