She didn't know why, but she was thinking about that crazy day she had. It seemed a while ago now, though she knew it couldn't have been that long. Maybe she just wanted something like it to happen again, because, relatively, her day to day was really boring.
Sighing, Runya shook her head. She was sitting on a rock, looking up at a cloud as it listlessly rolled across the otherwise clear sky. She didn't know what was so interesting about it. Nothing, really, but it was sadly more activity then she could find in her den, with all her siblings. They were all playing with each other or doing their own things.
Runya wasn't interested in any of it.
Blinking, she wondered what that boy, the one she had been trying so hard to impress, was up to.

Helios was starting to wonder if he had picked the right choice when he picked to be a soldier. He was sure it would be right in the eyes of his father but he couldn't help but wonder if he should be some sort of spy. For he had been doing a rather good job at spying on Runya, not often but often enough. She had intrigued him. Not many girls caught his attention, most were weak and worthless.
He had decided to check on Runya today but today he wasn't going to spy on her but actually talk to her. He had kept her a secret, though he had possibly mentioned her in passing to his brother. Mostly she was a secret of his, one that he rather liked keeping. He could just imagine his sisters teasing if she found out about him being friends with a girl... the teasing would mean he might just have to kill her.
He moved over the desert carefully, always watching for her red pelt. She was rather distinctive and so was easy enough to find. He didn't expect to find her so easily though. He laid himself flat on the sand dune, hoping she wouldn't see him. He liked to watch her, see how she moved. He was sure she would be a good opponent one day. He just had to learn all he could about her so that he would defeat her. Was fair right?

Runya yawned. It was big, unabashed yawn because she thought herself alone, showing the full size of her mouth and her fangs within. She shook her head and chewed on air for a moment, stretching her jaw muscles and letting them relax after the epic yawn. Heaving a profound sigh, she decided she was done being bored.
Nothing was going to happen if she just sat there doing nothing. The proud young lioness moved from the rock, slinking carefully away from her perch and further away from her den. She was soon cantering peacefully, not really watching where she was going but happy to be in motion. The sun felt nice on her fur, and her muscles were responding happily to the activity. She started running, just to see how far her paws could stride.
And then she stopped. Was that red she just passed?
Looking back, she saw a sand dune, but nothing red. Blinking, she could have sworn someone had been there. Feeling a bit creeped out, she wondered if someone was watching her, then wondered why she was being paranoid. Tilting her head, expression stern in concentration, she padded toward the dune carefully.
"If someone's there and planning to pounce on me I'm going to be really annoyed," she said, matter-of-factly.

Helios had to hold back a laugh, she walked straight past him! He was able to move but he knew she was coming closer to him, she could hear him. He didn't move though, he just turned the other way and pretended to be asleep as if he had never noticed she was there, it was obviously the best move to make! After all surely she wouldn't have noticed that he had moved!
He laid waiting, listening to her moving and wondering just how long it would take her to get the guts to look over the dune and find him sunbathing, while being very much 'asleep'. Something he had practiced a lot to avoid trouble with his mother. He was actually rather good at pretending to be asleep so he was curious as to whether Runya would see through it or not.

Runya squinted, spotting Helios soon enough. She growled a bit, though she couldn't help but grin when she recognized the boy. Just who she had wanted to see, after all. It was still a bit annoying, though. She had the feeling he was messing with her. That was, after all, the basic foundation of their relationship.
"You didn't hear me calling you?" She asked, standing at the top of the dune and looking down at him. Sand was rolling down from her paws from her movement, and she noticed it was doing the same after his. If he had been there for a while, why was it still moving? She squinted again.
There was one good way to wake him up, whether he was faking or not. With a big grin and a terrific, albeit youthful and less than scary, roar she leapt on him in a pounce, rolling with him down the short dune.

That was not very clever. He had been doing well with his pretending sleep and he had such a witty come back to what she asked but she pounced on him.
They automatically started rolling down the dune but soon his claws were out slowing his slide down a little.
"Stupid girl what you do that for?" He looked at her, he was clearly not happy about the events that had just taken place. He stood up and shook his fur before turning to look at her. At least he didn't get any sand in his mouth, otherwise she would be in real trouble.

"Oh, what?" Runya laughed, grinning broadly, "don't like it when you get pounced? You look like you're pouting like a little baby! How very male of you." She grinned at him, taunting but friendly, in a very singular and odd way. She didn't feel uncomfortable about mocking him, as if something was telling her she didn't have to worry about him getting so mad he'd stop hanging out with her.
She growled, holding her head up high and looking superior.
"Maybe you just don't like getting tackled by a girl. I bet I could pin you, and you're just worried about getting embarrassed. You deserved it, anyway. You weren't sleeping and I know it! You were waiting there, spying on me probably. Like a creeper."
Eying him suspiciously, she flicked her tail.

Helios laughed.
"Spying on you? I have better things then to waste my time on such things!" As if she could pin him! Well he would show her. He turned to face her and pounced all in one movement. She would regret those words!
"Pfft you can't get me."

Runya laughed and growled as he pounced on her. She had been expecting it, so her feet were spread and her muscles braced. Grinning up at him, she pounced up at him as he leaped at her, meeting him half way and scuffling with him when they both hit the sand.
He was definitely stronger and more adept, but she was still fast and had her wits about her. She was also enjoying herself, treating it more like a game than anything else, and she loved playing.
Somehow she managed to work her way to a good position and used it to her advantage, rolling on top of him and using her paws to push his shoulders into the sand. She was standing on top of him, looking a bit dazed but happy.
"Looks like I did get you!" She laughed victoriously, though she doubted the battle was over.

Helios was unimpressed. How had he managed to get caught by a GIRL! He snorted and pushed her off.
"I let you get me. You wouldn't be able to get me if I actually tried!" He looked at her harshly. He wasn't impressed with her or himself. How could he have let her get him like that? How stupid. His pride had been hit pretty hard though he refused to let it show.
He then pounced her again without giving warning. He had to get her back for that!

"Oh you did not," Runya scoffed, looking at him with a snide, sly expression. She grinned, showing her white teeth, and shook her head, "you're not the kind of guy who'd let a girl win, I know that."
She tilted her head at him, challengingly, flicking her tail in a prideful way. Where his had taken a bit of a hit, hers was swelling. She had a difficult time in her large family being noticed or sticking out, so she wasn't used to a feeling of accomplishment. She definitely liked it.
"You got pinned because I just bested youwhoa-" she braced herself when he leaped at her suddenly, laughing and scuffling with him so he didn't get her pinned right away. She wasn't about to lose her bragging rights now! She worked hard to keep him from victory, while trying to pin him again.
Now that would really be awesome.

That was not going to happen.
He was not going to let her get him more then once and so he started playing rouge, his claws came out. He would get her down no matter what. It might be a bit mean but then his kind of play fighting involved trying to kill each other so this was much more normal for him.
He smirked a little and then tilted his head a little, watching her move. He dodged an attack and went to pin her. He was going to get her, he had to get her... that or he would go into hiding for a while.

Whoa, claws.
Runya reacted with her own claws, though she used them more defensively than anything else. She darted quickly, her playful air turning to more serious focus. She was absolutely dead set on pinning him again. It had to happen. It was going to happen. If she stayed on her toes, she would get him. She just knew it.
Or at least that's what she kept telling herself. She didn't realize he was saying the same thing to himself.
Growling, though grinning, she bounced around his attempt to pin her, literally ducking and scampering. She used her smaller size to her advantage, coming at his side while he was moving forward and attempting to tackle and pin him that way.

She was small and it was annoying him somewhat. How was he suppose to catch her when she could basically roll under him! He snorted a little and jumped around trying to face her again. His back paws slipped on the sand as it moved under him though he jumped again to steady himself.
He watched her carefully before going in again, loosing his footing as he jumped making his jump awkward. He could not have messed this up again! He just couldn't let that happen but he possibly had. She couldn't beat him again, she couldn't do it!

Runya saw it! He was unsteady on his feet for about half a second and she was moving. She was so going to get him, and it was going to be great. She wanted it so bad, and she couldn't fathom why. It wasn't just about beating him now. It was about pride, in some way, and about proving herself. She was still embarrassed from what had happened last time she tried to impress him.
Confident, graceful, and using her size to her advantage, she slipped away as he pounced, noticing he was still off kilter and delighting in it. She pounced him quickly, hoping to get him before he could right himself, tackling him with all her strength and landing on top of him, slightly dazed by her own attack.
She found herself on top of him, though, and she pushed her paws down on him to pin him.
"HAHA!"
