Nope, I don't agree. You can wear whatever you like, it's not the external that matters, but it's the inside, your faith. I think.

It's haram... I know what I wanna do, and I respect people around me, I wouldn't go around naked, even though it's natural. But I can think my self you see, god/Allah gave me a brain to think with. Maybe god/Allah said it's haram, but I don't see the point, why is it so? Why did he even create us, why? why? are we just toys, what is this? and why did you even say that? Oh this is the goth topic, how you dress, or whatever. Ohh, I'm going crazy, NOTHING in this world makes sense anymore! -_-

My God Zaaki! Nowhere in the Qur'an does it say that "goth" is haram, and it is not a religion, it's a style: like punk or rock or emo or even Lolita. That's just how you dress, and the fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter what you wear on the outside as long as you have true faith in Allah.
I'm not saying that you can walk around naked, but what you do wear should have no effect on your beliefs. Rania there is no reason to be confused, Allah (SWT) is all about logic, if something doesn't make sense, then it's probably either misinterpreted or not explained completely.
Zaaki: you should reallllly stop saying this and that are haram just because it's strange to you. Try and have an open mind, whatever Allah said is, of course, undeniable facts that are there for a reason. I'm 21 and my grandfather (may he rest in peace) was a very prominent Sheik, so I know what I'm talking about. I don't mean to offend you in any way though. mrgreen

But those punk things are also haram! And just because your grandfarther was sheik, it dossen't matter? And it is not wroten, because there was nothing called goth that time. But If you look at other points, you will find it wrong 3nodding And what is goth? Is it a emo? Someone who goes around always sad for nothing? Cause that's haram. Someone who looks weird(there is many here in Denmark) cause that's haram. And if u weared islamic clothes you cannot be goth, right? It's haram.

You are still so young, how on earth do you know what you're talking about? And yes it does matter if your grandfather(may he rest in peace) was a sheik who studied the roots of Islam, who has memorized the Qur'an by heart. He is someone I could go to for questions about anything related to Islam. Cuz there is no way that anyone could know anything about Islam without learning it from someone who knows more about it.
Then what about you, don't you have a sheik you consult on these subjects, or do you just assume everything on your own? cuz that on it's own is a HUGE mistake. You should never say anything is haram or halal without consulting a sheik whom you trust.
I have said this repeatedly, Islam is all about logic, the Qur'an is logical. Once you loose your logic everything becomes haram.

Assalamu Alaikum =)
I won't say I'm knowledgeable at all about whether it is haram or halal to be goth or punk or anything, I really don't think I'm the person to claim either one or the other. However, during my time in university I did research among goths about their identity and lifestyle. We chose to target people in their twenties.
Firstly, goth is not a religion in itself. Many seem to be agnostic, but I've also met plenty of Christians, for example. Furthermore, the goths in our research expressed a mindfulness of death and that this life is only transitory, (which is something that we, as muslims, should also keep in mind constantly) not an obsession with sadness or death. I have furthermore only met kind, upstanding, and respectful people among these goths =) I do agree that much of the outward fasion style doesn't really fit with islamic dresscode, however.
My question to people who believe it is haram is this: I knew a muslim girl who would dress as a goth (rather moderately) in the comfort of her own home. When outside, however, she would dress perfectly correctly. Is this still haram? When someting should not be done or worn in public, that doesn't make it haram necessarily. I'm quite curious ^^
(also I haven't even introduced myself here yet, I'm so sorry .___. promise I'll do this right away!)
