So Feb. 25th, Scrapper and I had to say goodbye to our longtime pal, Judge. He was having a hard battle with his liver, and we had to have him put to sleep, which was really such a better solution than letting him suffer. They couldn't do anything, and he just.. took a wild turn for the worse. Anyhow, We'll miss him always, but with a 3 year old, it's hard to go from having a dog around to having nothing fuzzy for him to hug and play with.

So on March 14th we adopted a kitty. Scrapper decided he wasn't ready for another dog, and that's completely understandable. For me, I've always been a cat person, and since I work form home, I was the one most effected by the quiet Judge's passing left. So we adopted a lynx point Siamese mix from the local shelter.

We weren't really told much about why he was at the shelter, only that he was a rescue kitty. They had named him Burt because he didn't have a name to begin with, but we were encouraged to rename him. Well a rescue kitty has to be pretty strong to get through whatever ordeal they had to endure, so we went with Natu, a male form of Natusia, meaning stronger than death.

The people from the shelter found it fitting. Again, we don't know what he went through, only that he was a rescue.

Well recently, we has a little ordeal where we thought the three year old had let him outside when the lawn mower was going, and when we couldn't find him, we figured he got scared and bolted. Long story short, a few hours later, we find he'd been closed up in a cabinet asleep the whole time.. but the scare of it had us making sure all his data on petwatch was uptodate.. and I learned a few things.

He wasn't just rescued.. he was seized due to abuse. It made me so sad to think anyone would want to abuse such a sweet little kitty. Still, abuse can take several forms and I really don't know which form this was. It still makes me sad.

Ah.. sorry for rambling. It's late and i'm feeling a little sentimental.

But here, the tl;dr version:
We had to put our Judgie to sleep.

And we adopted Natu.

My dog Cinnamon had to be put to sleep when I was still in high school. I grew up with her, and it was heart wrenching. D:

She was a golden beagle, a golden retriever beagle mix obviously. When I find pictures I'll update this post.

But now I have Trogdor, who is the pet lizard. He is a hypo tiger bearded dragon. (Bright orange) Pictures of him are on my deviant art, which is linked in my siggy.

My dog is Kahu, an 8-year old Weimeraner with identity issues and the attention span of a goldfish. Her favorite hobbies include watching birds, barking, and barking at birds she is watching. She also poops. A lot.

Needless to say, this is no problem, since my job involves me looking after 30 horses of different ages and sizes, but all with an annoying tendency to poop. I have to pick up the poop, but it is not too bad as the horses are rather mellow considering other animals.

My mother has a cute orange Pomeranian of about 10 pounds. When I lived with her, I considered him my own. He's extremely social, loves licking hands and faces, and will come up to you and roll over for belly rubs.

In the last year, we had to euthanize two of our cats in the same month. Spooky was what we called the "miracle" cat. I will tell you that she officially lived all of her nine lives.

Spooky came with the house when we moved in in 1995. She was a black cat with just a little bit of white hairs here and there. She took to my brother and eventually ended up in his room and from then we called her the "Cave" cat because she would sleep in there day and night and would never venture out of it, except on a rare occasion.

Through several occurrences and situations, she ended up with semi-paralyzed hind legs from an attack our other cat, Doormat had done. For 4 years, she kept losing fur on her back and her legs atrophied.

About two years ago, she started having kidney problems and went on a downhill slop. She became severely emaciated and could not eat. It got to the point where she could only drag herself from place to place and would go to the bathroom lying down.

One day, she was lying in the sun and couldn't move. My mom found her a few hours later to find that she was suffering from heatstroke. We Bundled her up in cool towels and my mom ran to the vet and we received LRS for her which we proceeded to give her 3x a day.

Over 5 days, my brother kept refusing to have her put down. On the 6th day, my mom was lying in the grass with Spooky outside and my brother came home. Agaib, we asked if we could take her in and he still said no, that she would pull out of it.

Right then, Doormat brought a mouse and my brother said, "Maybe she would like that." My mom picked up the mouse by its tail and dragged it back and forth in front of her nose. All of a sudden, life came back into Pooky's eyes and she snarked that mouse right up and ate it.

From that day on, she began walking again, the fur grew back over her spine, she ate, her legs built up muscle. I don't know how she did it.

So she lived for another two years and she finally died a natural death in November, 2008.

Doormat was put down that same month. Unfortunately, he had a stomach tumor that ruptured, whcih we did not know about.

I've had 2 horses,, goats, cats, dogs, praying mantises, snakes, lizards, rabbits, frogs, rodents.

I currently have:
1 Arabian horse, 3 goats, 1 rabbit, 1 cat, 3-4 dogs (depending on the year)

Bernard looks like my sister's dog Tucker <3 Though here's hoping (for your sake) that he's smarter than Tucker XD

And what a sad story about Spooky. sad I love black cats, my last kitty before Natu was a black kitty named Beazle. Miracle kitty indeed! What a fighter :3

Bernard, well..all my dogs, are/were being raised and trained for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Bernard is now a working guide for a woman in Southern California.

Hansel, whom was pictured a lot, was career changed for elbow dysplasia which I then trained her in obedience and then did search and rescue with her as an Area Dog until she ruptured her ACL (never certified), had it repaired, then 2 years later, we found she had a massive tumor in her other leg (the size of a cantaloupe) which I had removed and through a series of complications which cost me a lot of money....she is now back to being a pet.

Bismark went all the way through training but he was dropped in phase 10 for fear barking at children, because of a traumatic experience when he was 13 months old that has left him forever scarred. He is now my current Search and Rescue dog in training and doing well.

Pachita went all the way through training but was dropped at phase 10 for urinary incontinence. She is my mom's dog and right now, my mom is just doing agility with her.

Out of the 17 or so puppies that we have raised, 4 have made working guides, 3 to search and rescue, 2 to Dogs for Diabetics, 1 to cancer detection, 1 to narcotics/bomb detection and the rest are pets to loving families

Romeo - Run over by a vehicle
Juliet - Put down due to an infection eating away at her face

Smudge - Alive, kicking and a pest, got him earlier this year

Bobby - His immune system went haywire and he died
Toby - Dominant dog... and small
Charlie - Another golden cocker spaniel but unlike Bobby, his tail wasn't docked

My fiancé certainly does. X3

The only pets I had when I was really young (as in no older than 10) were several fish (a beta and a few supermarket goldfish-- with some crazy stories involved) and two guinea pigs (not at the same time).

When I was in 8th grade, I adopted a dilute tortoiseshell cat from the vet clinic I interned at; she now lives with my fiancé's parents (as we can't have pets in our apartment) along with their cat & 2 dogs. Her name is Sasha (her previous owners gave it to her, and I think it suits her), and as best as we can figure she's about 11 years old.

A selection of pictures (links 'cause they're pretty big):

The shoe next to her in the last picture is my fiancé's. It's a size 14. My cat is fat. X3 ♥
