Her side still ached and so did her legs from the strain and the wounds left from the last time. Though as she breathed heavily she grit her teeth and trudged over the dunes to the spot from last time, fire burning in her veins still though her stomach begged her to return to the borders for at least another nights rest. But she refused, she could not keep staying away, she needed to be home, have a home, what would Iroh think if she was not part of this place after this? He was so wise and so young, she offered to train him, who would want to train from another failed attempt?
Though her weakness begged at her limbs she continued to move over the dunes, teh familiar red pelt in view, and those eyes, and she snarled low. She craned her neck backwards and roared out, announcing her challenge once more, and she tore off across the sands, blood beating in her eardrums.
As she got closer, she snarled and leapt towards her adversary again, arm outstretched but she winced and as she felt weightless in the air, she felt her claws touch nothing.

She'd scented the rogue in the wind long before Relik came into sight. Armada knew if she had continued her patrols, surely another guard would have come and responded to her challenge. She was firekin. This was her home. She had no obligation to wait for the lioness. She was nothing. Nothing until she proved herself to the pride.
And yet, Armada found herself waiting.
It didn't take long for the tiger striped female to come into sight, up above the dunes. Even as the cat charged towards her, Armada waited- her strange eyes staring into the other female's. Was there fire in her after all? Claws scraped at nothing but air as she made her lunge.
Perhaps not yet!
"Back again, I see." Armada said bitterly as the other lioness faltered from her failed attack. "You really need to learn to make a better first impression!"

Rellik felt herself touch air and a feeling swept through her that made her feel dizzy. No, why, why, why? She felt a tinge in her shoulder again, near to another wound from the last duel. She snarled and fell onto the sand, her body bounced once with a sickened thud and she coughed sliding to a stop.
"It won't, be like this," not again, she told herself. She pulled herself to stand again, though her body felt weak. Perhaps she should have listened to Iroh and waited longer, but she wanted her home, she couldn't wait so long.
Her stance faltered as she stood, she had half the mind to swipe her paw in the sand to get some in this female's eyes, but that would be a low blow.
"First impressions, matter, but persistence, does too," she lunged again, though her shoulder felt weak as she reached forward, her vision blurred and went double and she reached for the wrong figure and felt nothing again, and snarled in disappointment.

Armada pulled back as Rellik missed again. "Persistence? What's the sense of being persistent if all you do is falter?" Before another counter attack could be mounted, Armada bounced a few steps back, and began to start her own. "That's like repeating the same mistake over and over."
With the hot sands underneath her feet, the bone-marked lioness jumped forward, claws outstretched. "All that matters is getting it right!"
But even as Armada lectured, her own bad luck caught up with her. She stumbled and fell short of her mark, snarling.

"Getting it right?" as she failed, Rellik let a half laugh cough from her mouth, "You can't even strike, so you make mistakes as well, though no matter how long it takes I will not give up!" Rellik shouted, though she felt tired, thirsty, and her throat felt so dry as the sun was hot.
"I came here for a purpose, and I will not fail every single time!" she snarled and lunged again, but her paw twisted as she stepped and as she tried to grab hold of her neck, she missed again and hit the ground, her ribs aching.
She would not give in, no.

"Miss?!" Armada bristled. Rage was flooding through her ears. How dare she! With all the force of anger that Armada could back, she swung her paw to the left and caught Rellik as she stumbled from her latest miss. Even as her paw struck, it did little to soothe the embarrassment she'd suffered from her last pass.
She hissed and didn't follow through on her onslaught- instead, she took a few steps back and seemed to wait on mounting a follow up. She wasn't about to be made a fool of again.
"All fighters make mistakes. You just seem to make a lot of them!" She cursed. "Why would you challenge me when your barely healed from the last match? That's not only foolish, it's embarrassing."

"Its not foolish, its wanting something, its not giving up, its determination!" Rellik spat as she felt her body shudder again and she fell over her footing with a thud and coughed, her tongue tasted of blood. She grit her jaw and forced herself up again, she wobbled off balance and was hesitant, but she wouldn't keep failing, she had to try!
"If I just walk away, its nothing," she wanted to be here, home, she couldn't keep losing, she would find a way, even if this was not her time either.
She lunged with her arm but she felt weak but would not hold herself back, though her paw touched nothing again and her head hung low, breathing hard. "Would you just walk away from something?"

Armada dodged the swing and scrunched up her nose. "No," she lied. "I wouldn't walk away." Not since joining the firekin anyways. But in the past... it was doubtful that there was *anything* Armada didn't run away from. Her mother, her father, her sisters, her lovers, her children... nothing to her. But that person was dead and buried, somewhere out in the sands. "I don't walk away from anything."
She wasn't that lion anymore.
With another swing, Armada jumped forwards- but her swipe missed.

"So you understand then," Rellik said almost coughing, moving away from Armada and then jumping forward again, only to not strike her once more. This was over today, but she was still on guard, silver eyes watching those eyes of this lioness who's name she did not know, but who's face and image would be scalded into her memory forever. Rellik breathed heavily, a wound on her shoulder from their last fight had reopened and stung with sand sticking awkwardly.
"Why I can't just turn away, even now," she breathed trying to catch her breath, eyes half lidded, "this will never be over, until I'm here, until I'm home," and one day this lioness would be the equivalent of a sister.
"Someday, soon I hope we can be side by side, not fighting eachother, but any threat that comes to these lands," she took a side step, watching, moving back but knowing not to believe it was over until she was well out of range.
"This isn't over, not yet, not until I am home."

"Enough of this!" Armada shouted, slamming her paw down into the sand. How could this lioness ever expect to be apart of them? Like this? "If you are so certain you want this as your home... then you are going to need to go a far way to prove it! We are not going to simply take you just because you say this is your home!"
Armada pulled back, her tail whipping behind her. She of all people knew what it meant to claim this land as her home. And when she had- it had quite nearly cost her her life. And now this lioness thought she could get in just on perseverance alone? Armada bared her fangs, and ended the fight with a sidestep.
"I'm not going to go easy on you," She bristled. "Come back and try again when you can land a hit!"
