Does anyone else think that we are slowly being invaded my America. Not with a war way but how we talk, what we watch, what we eat, what we believe, what we wear, what we know, etc.

Personally I see it everywhere and I think we are looking like a junour America especially around the waist line. What do you think?

I'd comment at length, but I'm tired after my last exam, and drowsy formula anit-histamines.

In a nut-shell, yes. If you're really going to analyse it and dig deep, not that much. I think on the surface we have been very Americanised, because they're culture floods us daily. I remember hearing somewhere, that when children come into advertisement auditions, they perform using an American accent, because it's so prevalent. Looking at a deep value system, I think we're very different. American's are so pushy, and they are always crapping on about their Bill of Rights, being zealous liberals and fighting fervently for what is right, to an extent that it sickens me.

Conclusion: summary of majoy points.

Enjoy.

Well of course we are, but before World War II we were being invaded with the British sensations. Sure we were colonised by them, but that doesn't mean we don't ahve freedom of thought, a national identity.
I think Australia's public is becoming too impressionable. I will openly say that the majority of Australians are gullible and ignorant, just the fact Mr Howard is still in power supports this, either that or that democracy is failing.

Sure we do have alot of influences from the US and it is robbing us of our national identity which we discovered in the mid 20th Century. We may as well be an incorporated state of America. I'd rather live in New Zealand at this rate, at least they don't jump when the bloody Yanks tell them to.

Our speech, our writing, our Television all has American influences, we can't escape it, but jesus people, prove me wrong that we're all not that impressionable.

If we get a different leader, preferably a Labor leader, that Americanisation will decrease. We need a leader that will stick up for what is right for our country, not what's right for the Amercan confederacy.

On that note, if you want a good insight on rampant commercialism and Amercanisation I suggest Max Barry's Jennifer Government. show you what Australia would be like under the rule of mass commercial industry and as an incorporated state of America.

I only hope that after writing this I don't come under permanent house arrest. o_o

And on that note, capitalism also blows majoy chunks in my opinion.

Labour is the only other party which has a chance in gaining governmental power, but I would rather a socialist, communist sort of government. In short, Greens. And another thing, basically, growth is not sustainable, so why do we keep on making such a huge fuss about it?

Culturally, yes.

Socially, not so much.

That's my answer in a nutshell. xd As to whether I think it's a good thing or not... that's probably another 1000 words worth.

And I love your "especially around the waist line" comment... haha. It's so true. It's really worrying.

Ok, you and me start a Socialist party, we're bound to make it into power by the time the children of the 60's die out. We will reign supreme, within reason.

yes yes we are becoming americanised whores. no u's, z'd instead of s's. i have nothing agaist americans, i just hate how they do everything backwards and still use the imperial system and are always "fighting" for rights yet if someone openly speaks against the war on terror, they are flamed neutral i also dislike their shooting style in movies; just randomly firing shots and anything that moves and miss even after 10 000 bullets. i love the english way of shooting, one hit and down 3nodding

in conclusion: bloody americans, late to every war, always doin things backwards, over paid, over drunk and over sexed 3nodding

And over here if I recall. I'm pretty sure that's a common expression Australians used when the Yanks were over here during World War II.

Deal.

Brilliant. Now we just have to wait 40 years until there's enough people with idealistic views to be successful. Hozzah!

Sure, there are tonnes of people with idealistic views, however it only seems you can get a point across without detinating an explosion.

Anyway, it would be great if all the idealistic people could come together and make a change.

If you can get the vast majority, then you don't need to act with violence.
Idealism is run down my a Capitalist democracy, if we eradicate that, we have true freedom of thought.
