((OOC note: Totally testing a new dueling sistem. Don't mind us. 1- Miss, 2- Bide, 3- Small hit, 4- Big hit ))

Move: Bide

Technically... she didn't have to be doing this. It wasn't expected of her to be doing any of this, and yet, here she was. Mostly due to the fact large female felt the need to exercise, really. There was also that small part of her that wanted to help the pride, see it prosper... see it grow stronger, though she was mostly denying that, instead using the aforementioned excuse of needing exercise.

It wasn't like her needing exercise was a lie anyhow. She could feel her body slipping and she was more than ready to rectify that. The influx of rogues willing to join the pride was horribly convenient, and Kenna had challenged one of the females she'd found more appealing. Now that she was idly circling the rogue, she was noticing that indeed, her own movements were slipping; she should do this more often. Win or lose wasn't really a big deal so long she got the necessary exercise.

That in mind, her eyes narrowed as she circled on, watching Kianga, as if waiting for her to make the first move; wanting the other female to attack. If she was to be Firekin... she had to find courage to attack. She bared her teeth in an attempt to urge her forth.

Move: Bide

Akamu'Hakan, her father and a pureblooded Firekin himself, had taught her how to fight and to have the courage to. She'd try a hundred times if need be, challenge a Firekin a hundred times to win her right to join. Kian had no fear of fighting at all. It was because of her father she was here now, wishing to join this pride that had intrigued her and once repulsed her but was ultimately a part of her.

But instead she snarled back at the other lioness, circling as she was, and waited. Watching her opponent, trying to gauge what little she could from the way she moved and held herself, looking for an opening or something to exploit....oh Akamu had taught her courage yes but her mother Rahima had taught her strategy and prudence. It was wise to take a moment to observe the battlefield and the foe before rushing blindly in to strike.

Absurdly, she felt like grinning across at Kenna and quipping "nice weather we're having, huh?" but didn't. Not the time, Kian, love, not the time.

Move: Bide

A snarl.

Just a snarl.

Kenna looked disappointed, frowning across the circle they were creating, but remain otherwise silent as she continued moving. It was obvious she'd been hoping to see something, to feel something during the fight, and yet was far from achieving the satisfaction she was looking for, "How dull," she drawled, though her ears did perk forward, her eyes narrowing.

The old ex-queen had hope still, and while she was obviously disappointed, she was still waiting. Had she picked the wrong rogue? She'd picked this one because she'd seemed intelligent and strong - large, even! It seemed to signal the fact Firekin blood ran through her veins! Or at least that what she'd thought. Had she been wrong? "Oh, come on now, child. Give me something. Show me I didn't pick the wrong lioness. Go on!"

It'd never been about winning or losing. Ever. It was about the fight and making it worthwhile.

Move: Bide

"Only fools rush in."

She couldn't help it, she did smile now. She purposefully made the circle they were tracing smaller, as is she were flirting with the idea of attacking. This was Kian's biggest fault. Life to her was a bit of a game. She for one was enjoying the tension and also knew her own strengths. Opening a fight wasn't one of them - she wasn't that quick. She was better at taking a hit and then, using her endurance and size, try to hang on and wear her opponent down.

"And oh no, I insist, ladies first. And you're a lady if I ever saw one." It was true. Kian didn't know if it was something all Firekin were supposed to possess but Kenna seemed proud and regal. Kian would would have to work on that.

Move: Miss

She rolled her eyes.

Honestly, she couldn't help it; in a way, she felt like a petulant child, demanding the other female to attack. However, she couldn't help but feel that she deserved to have a thrilling fight, now that she'd finally walked over to the battling grounds and offered herself, "Perhaps," she drawled out, "But wise lions learn more from fools, than fools from the wise," this said, she finally twisted her body with lightning speed, her paw stretching out towards the rogue.

Her claws whistled through air without hitting her target, and it was unclear if the attack had been a miss on purpose or not, for the lioness narrowed her eyes in silent threat. It was clear that Kenna was not going to keep playing the game much longer.

Move: Small Hit

There. Whether the miss was intentional or not it gave Kian the opening she had wanted, the opportunity. Her own eyes narrowed not with silent treat but because she was enjoying this. Kenna could be disappointed all she liked - Kian loved games. Not liked. Loved.

She took the chance to close the now minimal distance on her own terms, with her not being the one to risk the initial move and "latched" onto her target. By latch she didn't mean actually cling and dig her claws in, though that would have been good so she could have had her weight help tired out her foe. She meant latch as in stick to, she now planned to hinder Kenna's movement with her own body, getting in the way and not let the other female get away again if possible. Like being marked in a game. All up in your space and trying to block your action. With many opponents she'd found this wore them out.

The initial blow she landed wasn't expert but it was a hit that that was good enough.

Move: Big Hit

There it was! This was what she'd been waiting for.

When the hit came, the female didn't even flinch, instead, a half-crazed smile slowly edged across her maw, her eyes alight with fire; she should've come here seeking a fight much, much sooner. Fights were what fueled a firekin's soul. Kenna had always been a firm believer of such a thought, and the feeling of the rogue's claws across her skin only seemed to prove her notions correct.

Now that they were close, Kenna lost no time in twisting expertly around so that her fore legs could grasp the other lioness' frame. Her fangs and claws only touched her for a moment, but the damage she dealt was more than what she'd received. If anything, it was apparent that pain actually fueled the large lioness forward; the sight of blood, the pain, everything seemed to make push her forth.

Now Kenna was having fun.

Move: Small Hit

Kianga gave a short growly laugh in reaction, feeling the pain and taking stock of the damage. That'd been a good hit by Kenna but Kian wasn't going to let it take her down - or stop hounding the other female. Slow and steady, wear them down, was the best way she'd known of fighting so far when she'd met the odd fellow rogue who insisted on fighting. She knew, could tell by the pain she now sought to ignore and work around, that here where the lions were actual fighters by nature she'd need to improve her technique. A lot. This wasn't another ragtag rogue and she'd need to recall Akamu's lessons more, get new instruction too. Still, she could steel herself against the pain and soldier on quite happily.

She just aimed for another steady hit, hoping that her old tactic would hold out and help her in this fight. Improving her tactics could be worked on another time.
