First time I went to the store, ever.

No I didn't get anything but that didn't mean I did not see anything that I wanted to get!

Saw a S&W Model 29, yes, an actual mod 29, not the newer 'looks like a 29 .44 Magnum.'
I said in my head, "Go ahead, make my day."

This one had the shorter barrel though, but was still blued.

Saw one Mosin, nothing too special, 1941 from the Izhevsk factory.
Trigger guard and barrel bands seemed to match, all izzy marked at least.
Again, wasn't much special so I didn't look into it further for stock repairs or anything.

Then I saw some abomination to all Enfields ever, you know those cheap repros of 'Jungle Carbines' that're being tossed around?
Well, I think I just held one.
Had some type of Chromed or marine finish, a welded on cast vented flash hider, it looked like this but shorter and near the base it was vented and had a mold line through it.

Also held a French MAS 36 which was slightly sporterized and a Turkish Mauser that was HEAVILY sporterized.
Barrel replaced with a 30-06 chambered one and it was drilled and tapped TWICE for a scope.
On top of the receiver and on the side just in front of the bolt release.

Saw a 1917 Enfield and Springfield 1903(A3?), couple of Lugers, an Arisaka, and two Trenchguns (they wanted $5,000 for one of the them and more for the other), and an Inland M1 Carbine for $1,000.
The Inland had the M2 front band and the adjustable rear sight.
Nothing spectacular, probably something from the CMP that someone traded in.
Taurus judges were... drum roll please...
~$650.
eek

I glanced down at one of the Lugers, wanted $1,000 for it as well.

Wow, seriously over priced. Luger is probably fine, not sure about those trenchguns though.
If that's the regular price, ********' 'A'.

Found some .30 Carbine FINALLY, but, alas, Visa bill was 'huge' couldn't buy any.
Even at 14.99 a box of 50.
I told her, I couldn't find it anywhere and it's a fairly decent price but still, NO!
But, apparently a set of planer boards for her friend doesn't make the bill any larger.

I got $1,000 to do whatever I so wish. I am very tempted to buy a gun, but I know if I'm going to get anywhere in life I should save it for college.

Normally I'd agree, but in today's economy...

Best bet is actually the stock market. The whole market is in the tubes right now, but it's more or less guaranteed to get better in the next couple years, soooo... buy low, sell high. Invest in something established that won't disappear overnight.

GM stocks?

Buying a gun has a good return on your investment.
It'll take a while, but if things go right like the gun becoming more rare, or the company going out of business or someone makes a badass movie featuring the gun, it'll go up in price.

Check it, I got a Yugoslavian SKS about 2 years ago for $80. Sold it not too long ago for $235. Bit under what others were selling theirs for.

I suppose stocks are a good thing, and as long as you don't cash them out when they're lower than what you paid for them I suppose you don't lose anything either.
:/

The one rifle to buy that will, IMO, go up in price rather soon is the Swiss k31.
They're already hitting the $300-400 mark.
Used to be available as cheap as a Mosin, perhaps +10 or so.

Go to gun shows, you may find some dealers or private people offloading them because they don't want to pay for commercial ammo.
Surplus ammo is drying up quickly for these and the rifles are as well.
So this is becoming a reloader's rifle.

So get two, one to keep and one to sell, and if you never get into reloading, which you should, and you don't fall in love with the rifle, which you will, you can sell the other one I guess.

If you do get a K31, check under the butt plate, there's possibly a name tag from the person that it was originally issued to.

I'm not buying a gun anytime soon, because I'm still looking at the possibility of obtaining my grandpa's Winchester and shotgun. I'm going to yell at them if they even CONSIDER selling them, even to a collector. Better to let them sit their days out in a closet than be sold for chump change.

Here's the other half of the, 'ok, you're a moron.'
The Cabela's we went to, the closest one to me, is roughly an hour away.
Only reason why we went there was because it was on the way back from the tank show.

She knew that, I told her that I could not find it anywhere else.
In fact, Gander was the only one that the employee actually knew about .30 Carbine, he went to where it was but it was replaced with Wolf .308 and the price tag for .30 Carbine was gone.
So I'm guessing they're not stocking it anymore.

Said it was roughly $20-25 for the box of 50.
