Porerol Sol winced when the sun rose bright that day, making her eyes hurt behind closed lids. The bright cub seemed to glow with the way the sun's rays bounced off her fur. She tried to curl in on herself, hissing when that didn't do anything against the sun. She had no idea where she was, and mewed weakly, lifting her head and perking her ears in a futile attempt at finding someone to help her. Her fur stood on end; the cub was terrified and alone. She cracked an eye carefully, cringing at the brightness that assaulted her vision. Blinking the spots away, Porerol tried to stand up. She wobbled and fell over, instead.

"Hello?" She called quietly, rolling onto her belly and crawling forward quietly. She had to find something to eat; someone to feed her. Where was her mother? Why had she left her out here? Her stomach rumbled and she mewed weakly, closing her eyes. She heard something snap to the side, and tried snarling. It only came out as a weak growl, high pitched and whiny. She glared at a bug as it flew away, and looked around.

"Is anyone there? Hello!" Her voice just echoed around her. There was no one for miles, no food, no shelter against rain or predators... She had been left out here to die. The thought surged energy into her, and she rose unsteadily, taking a few steps before wobbling and sitting down. Frustrated, she flopped down and covered her face. Someone would find her eventually... She couldn't just die out here. Despite that thought, Porerol Sol felt something drop into the pit of her stomach, like a great big rock taking up all the space in her tiny belly. She closed her eyes against tears of frustration and curled in on herself against the sun and the despair.

The thunder of hooves suddenly answered the lone cub's cries as a herd of antelope fled for their lives, a single beast separating and sprinting across the plains with a yellow-maned lion in hot pursuit. Panicked bleats cut the air as it stumbled through a turn and the lion caught it, dragging it down to crash into the dirt near the starving cub. A cloud of dust and debris billowed in the air for a moment before settling once more to reveal a fresh kill and a panting Sil'in Drathir.

Once he was sure the creature was dead, he backed away to catch his breath, claws click-clicking on the stones underfoot as he lay down with a satisfied smirk. Lunch was served.

When the thunder of hooves sounded near Sol, she lifted her head quickly and looked around, eyes wide. What? WHAT? What was that?! She bolted away from the sound, hiding behind a rock and looking around with wide eyes. holycrapwhatwasthat! Those wide eyes fell on the cloud of dust, and she watched it settle away to reveal the yellow-maned Sil'in Drathir.

She sniffed, watching him quietly, and crawled out from behind the rock on her belly, trying to sneak closer without revealing that she was actually there. She tried to hide behind a smaller rock, but her white tail wagged back and forth excitedly, giving away her secret hiding place. What if he was here to rescue her?

Drathir licked his paws a bit and glanced around, surveying the environs before he set out the rituals of eating he'd grown up with. A while passed before he noticed the pale cub, having blooded the creature and begun to feast. And, even when he did, he barely took note of her... simply marked her hiding spot and watched from the corner of his eye as he ate.

What was a cub doing all the way out here? And for that matter, why a white cub? The thing wasn't even anywhere close to being a demon... a slave, perhaps, but what sane mother would drop a baby near the infamous demons? He chuckled, a cruel and vicious mother, that's what.

Eventually, however, he rose and moved over to where he'd last seen her. "Are you going to spy on me all day, little one? That's a dangerous thing to do."

Porerol Sol watched Drathir partake in the strange ritual, frowning quietly as she watched. What was that strange lion doing, anyway? Drinking the blood like that. A part of her urged her to get closer, but she stayed behind her rock, watching Drathir quietly as he ate.

When Drathir finished his meal, she expected him to walk off. He hadn't seen her, right? So she was safe. But instead of walking away, he was coming towards her. She watched him come closer, frozen in place, until he was practically standing over her. Her jaw opened and snapped shut a few times before answering him, and even then, her voice was quiet and shaky.

"N-no?" She looked up at Drathir, sinking onto her belly again and pulling her tail up around her back leg. She was trying to make herself as small as she could, sure this lion was going to be her downfall. "I wasn't spying, I was just... watching." In hindsight, that was likely to be the same thing, but at the time it sounded like a good enough excuse. "I didn't mean to..." She mumbled, looking down at her paws. She hadn't, really. She was just curious.

Drathir eyed the cub a moment before reaching with a paw and nudging her hard enough to topple her into her side, "You're nothing but skin and bones, little one. If you weren't watching, what were you doing? Speak carefully, your life may be on the line..."

She was so small and ragged, hardly an honourable kill and hardly worth the effort. Too young to really know the ones she'd stumbled (or more likely been abandoned to) upon, he doubted she was any tactical threat to the pride. And, really, as he looked upon her he frowned with a mixture of disdain for her obvious lack of a demon and for her condition.

"Do you have a name?"

Porerol slumped over onto her side with a huff, blinking up at Drathir. "I... I was curious." She said after a minute, glancing towards the kill behind Drathir. "Why did you do that?" She frowned a little. "Drink that red stuff?" She wrinkled her nose, frowning deeper. It wasn't as though she'd seen many lions kill and eat something, but it just seemed... odd. Not particularly bad, only...different. Why bother with that when they could eat the meat? She glanced at Drathir again, then looked down. "I'm sorry."

The question of a name made her ears perk, and she frowned, shaking her head. "I don't know, I don't think so. I don't really remember getting a name." She looked up at him. "What's yours?" She smiled a little, but it faltered and she looked down. "I-I mean, do you have a name?" She looked at her paws, fuming a little at herself. This lion was going to kill her, she had no doubt of that.

He blinked at her question, glancing back at the kill for a moment, "The blood? To take in my prey's strength. If I did not, it would leak into the world and be forever lost to me. I aim to always grow stronger. Strong enough to face down the obstacles before me..." Drathir's eyes glittered as he spoke, clearly thinking of things he was not speaking of. "That is a good answer, and an appropriate question, little one."

He was impressed by her instinctive cowering as if she knew she was lesser then he. A ready-made slave then? Someone who's innocence and being spoke to a pleasant servant? The thought was a tempting one - he was in need of a slave. Her scrawny, scraggly appearance could be fixed easily enough... and too young yet to have been weaned from her mother's milk, the Yana'hine would not say no if he gave her to them to feed and instruct.

"What's yours?"

Drathir's attention was drawn back to her as she asked a direct question of him and he lowered his head such that he was face to face with the little lioness, "Sil'in Drathir, Prince of Demons, son of Aran'shale Verge'lian. But," he smiled as he hooked a paw around her backside and scooted her alongside him, "You may call me Master."

Leaving the kill behind, he began to move, taking a few steps away then pausing, "Follow me, slave. From now until I choose, you are mine. Listen to me and you will not suffer unduly." He wrinked his nose, "You need a name..."

As he stood there, regarding her thoughtfully, syllables and sounds were picked and dismissed just as quickly until he settled on a name, "Porerol Sol. That is your name, little one. Come when I call you, understood? You cannot serve well as you are. I will take you to a meal and warmth where you might recover some strength."

The white cub watched him, tilting her head to the side as he explained the strength in the blood. She observed him, watching his eyes, and smiled a little. "Th-thank you." She murmured, looking down again. This time, not in cowering, but to mull over what he'd told her. Was that something every lion did? Or was he a special breed? She glanced up, ears flattening. "You must be very strong." He was older, he must've had a hundred kills under his paw. She wondered how strong he was, although the idea sent a tremble down her spine. However strong he was, he could likely snap her like a twig. Funnily enough, death held no fascination for the cub. No, she'd much rather live.

She mouthed his name and title to herself, nodding a little, and stood up straighter when she was scooted closer to her Master. Sil'in Drathir, prince of Demons. Her Master. She watched him start to walk away, and felt a pit drop into her stomach. Was he leaving her? But he said--

"Yes, Master." She bound after him, stumbling over her paws and catching herself quickly. "Ow." She fumed a little, standing up just beside him. "Sorry, sir." She mumbled, blinking a little. A name? But he called her Slave, wasn't that her name? "Porerol Sol..." It was a pretty name. She smiled quietly, nodding quickly. "I'll always come, I promise." She said, following after him. She'd recover her strength and serve the demon prince as best she could.

No. Better. She was certain her best wasn't good enough.

Drathir nodded approvingly at that, "I expect nothing less, Sol. Behave and your life will be comfortable. Your first task, once we arrive, is to clean yourself and then report to the Yana'hine for your first lessons and a meal. I will show you where to find these things but you will be responsible for your own care after that."

His tail flicked as he glanced over his shoulder at her, "You're a pretty Na'artue, Sol, do not let your appearance falter. And neglecting lessons will not be a wise idea either, should the thought occur to you. You must learn the pride's ways and if you don't I will not stop my kin from toying with you. They are far more cruel then I."

The prince smiled then, a warm expression, "But I doubt I need to worry about things, yes? You'll be an excellent slave."

Porerol followed just behind Drathir, eyes down but ears erect as she listened to him. "Yes, sir." She said, mouthing the order back so she would remember it. Clean up and go to the Yana'hine for food and lessons. "I'll remember." She promised, smiling at him quietly. How hard could it be, finding the Yana'hine?

Sol brightened at the compliment, straightening up a little, and nodded quietly. "I'll learn all I can, Master." She said, looking around to figure out where they were. "And I'll stay clean." Being dirty sent a shiver down her spine; she was too bright for dirt to not be easily seen. She'd have to stay away from mud and dirt if she could, otherwise she'd be getting a bath every day for fear of looking dirty. She caught the Prince's smile, and returned it hesitantly, nodding again. Like a little bobble-head, this one.

"I'll be good." She said, smiling. "I'll go to all of my lessons, and stay clean, and do whatever you ask." That's what a slave did, wasn't it? Whatever her Master required of her. She smiled brightly at Drathir, then looked down at her paws, still grinning but too wary of looking at Drathir directly for long. It just didn't seem right, looking him in the face like that.

"Excellent." He praised her with that single word and for the rest of the trip home Drathir was silent.

Eventually, the rise and fall of the dens could be seen upon the horizon and Drathir kicked into a trot, wanting to show his slave around. On the outskirts of the pridal dens were the slave quarters, where the adult slave would often reside. Stopping there, he nodded in the direction of a few paler individuals, "Once you are old enough, you may reside here, with the other Na'artu but for now, you will stay with in my den."

Continuing on, Sil'in Drathir rounded the corner to where the majority of the demon dens were and again he pointed them out, "These are where the demons reside. You are not to enter them without either expressed permission from the resident or are acting under my orders. My orders come before their demands, however, now and always." He indicated his home as they moved along and then nodded towards the leader's dens.

"Those dens belong to the Aran'shale. Stay away from Iartuupe. He is a violent and impulsive Aran'shale. The other, my father, you may see much of. Do not bother them unless I ask you to." His eyes narrowed and his words grew clipped as he spoke of his father and again, he moved on, heading towards the jungle.

Porerol didn't seem to mind the silence on their journey home, and even if she had, she didn't protest it. She mulled over the things Drathir had told her before as they walked, paying attention in case she got lost again on how to get back home. Her attention perked up when she saw the dens, and she ran after Drathir, careful not to trip over her paws as she chased her Master.

She slowed when he stopped, coming to a halt beside him. She nodded quietly, looking at the individuals with pale fur like her own. Did Drathir consider them pretty, too? She ran a paw across her face as if wiping dirt off, straightening up a little and following after him. "Are they all slaves of other lions, or..." She paused, mulling over the words. "Or everyone's slaves?" She wrinkled her nose, frowning. Were slaves capable of being owned by an entire pride? She was grateful for having only one master; more then that would confuse her.

"Yes, Master." She bobbed her head, glancing towards the demon dens hesitantly before following him along to the leader's dens. "What is your father's name?" She asked quietly, walking beside him and shrinking a little when she noticed his tone. Perhaps that wasn't a good question, but if she was going to see the lion, she thought it better to know his name. She followed him towards the jungle, frowning.

"What lies this way?" She chirped, looking up at Drathir curiously.

He shook his head, a rumbling laugh escaping his lips as he hooked a paw around her rear and scooted her forward so she walked before him, "No. They are the slaves of individual lions. You are mine and mine alone, Porerol Sol, you should not listen to the commands of others and are to tell me if they do so."

The Prince tch'd and shrugged, "Verge'lian. Learn that name well, my little one, for it is to he that I will prove my worth. He will learn his mistake soon enough."

He arched a brow at her, but did not say anything. For a near-dead slave, she was certainly full of questions. "This way is where the sacred hotsprings are. They are steaming pools of water that the priestess will often meditate in and demons bathe in the lower pools. You, however, are not to go there. Your place, little one, is in the jungle proper. There is a stream there that you will bathe in, understood?"

As he spoke, they weaved between trees and he once again lead the way, stopping at last where the ground dipped down to the banks of a stream and he flopped onto his belly. "Go on. Clean up."

"Ohhhh..." She caught up, walking with him, and nodded quickly. "I will." She promised quietly, looking up at Drathir when he spoke again. Verge'lian. She'd remember that name. "Why must you prove your worth, Drathir?" She frowned deeply. Wasn't it obvious he was a strong lion? It certainly seemed that way to her, but she was young. Maybe she just didn't understand.

When he looked at her that way, she cringed and looked down. Was she bugging him with all her questions? She nodded quietly as he spoke, looking around. Never go that way. Right. She nodded again as he spoke, keeping her eyes peeled on their walk to the stream.

When he bid her move, she went right into the water and flopped down, splashing water around her. For a brief moment, she wanted to play in the water, and slapped her paw down at it curiously. She giggled, and dunked her head into the water before lifting it up, looking around. She spotted Drathir, and remembered her task. She was there to clean, not to play. She sunk down into the water again, and tried rubbing off the dust and dirt with her nose and paws where she could reach. She got up a few minutes later, shaking herself off.

"Is this better?" She asked, blinking at Drathir.
